4 1. Summary of the Study on the LNG terminal location potentials Core message 1. Germany is the largest European natural gas market 2. Germany needs LNG imports in order to cover and guarantee the security of supply of natural gas supply in a 10 year perspective 3. The price advantage for pipeline-bound natural gas will disappear in the next few years 4. LNG-fueled vessels will continue to expand and the demand for low cost LNG marine fuel will increase 5. A low-cost LNG terminal must be designed, planned and invested in accordance with European regulatory practice

LNG-Terminal in Wilhelmshaven Wilhelmshaven is an excellent location and offers very favorable conditions for all terminal scenarios to: Geographical location Connection to the European pipeline network Available free space Available cavern capacities in the immediate vicinity Nautical conditions Etzel Cavern Storage Capacity: Number of caverns: 75 In detail: 51 Gas, 24 Oil Total storage volume: Gas = 4.3 Billion m 3 Oil > 10 Mio. m³ Planning: Another 24 caverns can be build by solution mining

LNG-Terminal in Wilhelmshaven Advantages in detail: No limitations for "Q-max -vessels (345 m LOA) An additional extension of the deep water fairway is not necessary An LNG terminal can be reached with a Q-max tanker at any time independent of the tide and does not require an additional maritime police permit on the river jade Terminal approach is only about 23 nm (10 kn = abt. 2 h) The river Jade offers enough space to accommodate additional LNG traffic without any major restrictions to be expected

LNG-Terminal in Wilhelmshaven Umschlaganlage Voslapper Groden (DFTG/Uniper) Source: Potenzialanalyse LNG-Infrastruktur an der deutschen Nordseeküste unter Betrachtung besonders geeigneter Standorte Present plans go for a FSRU unit Existing Jetty has to be extended The Deutsche Flüssigerdgas Terminal Gesellschaft (DFTG) and Uniper has already been considering this for several years with the aim of upgrading and expanding the existing facility The jetty would be located in the deep water area, but still about 800 m outside the fairway
