Welcome to the 2018 Carrie Kirkpatrick Memorial Golf Tournament where we remember one of the first female African American golfers in this area.

We once again welcome you to Tradition Golf Club who has been fabulous hosts for many years.

We appreciate the support we receive each and every year from you, the golfers, who come out and participate in this event. We thank you for being here and taking part in this day.

3 Welcome to the 2018 Carrie Kirkpatrick Memorial Golf Tournament where we remember one of the first female African American golfers in this area. We also raise funds to support the food pantry hosted at Our Lady of Consolation Church which feeds many of the hungry in the area. We once again welcome you to Tradition Golf Club who has been fabulous hosts for many years. They work hard to make this facility top notch and the Carrie Kirkpatrick tournament has made this club, our tradition. We appreciate the support we receive each and every year from you, the golfers, who come out and participate in this event. We thank you for being here and taking part in this day. We enjoy seeing you and welcome the many connections and friendships we make here year after year. We hope you find that the competition is fun, that the food is good and that the winners are many. But mostly we want you to realize that you are helping us make a difference in people s lives, and for that we are truly grateful. Enjoy your day and we look forward to seeing you again next year. 4 CARRIE KIRKPATRICK Carrie Alexander Kirkpatrick, a native of Charlotte, North Carolina and OLC parishioner, is known as the First Lady and Senior Statesman for female African American golfers in the Metrolina Area having played in many senior games, receiving numerous trophies and awards, including a silver medal in the 2006 Charlotte Mecklenburg Senior Games. In 2007, she celebrated 68 years as a golfer and was honored as a pioneer in integrating golf in Mecklenburg County. ST. MARTIN de PORRES FOOD PANTRY The Carrie Kirkpatrick Golf Tournament will raise money for Our Lady of Consolation s (OLC s) St. Martin de Porres ministry which operates a food pantry for families in need in the Statesville Avenue area. The food pantry is run by approximately volunteers from Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church. In addition to distributing food boxes, the volunteers collect donations, stock shelves, pack boxes and pick up donations. The panty is funded through parishioner donations, grants, donations from other churches in the Charlotte Diocese, and the proceeds from this tournament go directly to the ministry. We are very grateful for your continued support!

FR. CARL DEL GIUDICE, HONORARY CHAIR Fr. Carl Del Giudice, a Diocesan priest, assumed the duties of pastor of Our Lady Consolation Church in July of 2012. Fr. Carl had served Our Lady of Consolation more than 30 years earlier as a seminarian and deacon.

He was ordained a priest of the Charlotte Diocese in 1981. Upon his arrival back to OLC as Pastor, Fr.

5 FR. CARL DEL GIUDICE, HONORARY CHAIR Fr. Carl Del Giudice, a Diocesan priest, assumed the duties of pastor of Our Lady Consolation Church in July of Fr. Carl had served Our Lady of Consolation more than 30 years earlier as a seminarian and deacon. Fr. Carl is a native of New Jersey and southern California where he received a Catholic school education. While attending Appalachian State University, he was called to serve. He was ordained a priest of the Charlotte Diocese in Upon his arrival back to OLC as Pastor, Fr. Carl did not hesitate to continue the support of the annual Golf Tournament as Honorary Chair and has become a regular hole-sponsor at the tournament. HUMPY WHEELER, HONORARY CHAIR Howard "Humpy" Wheeler, Jr, is the former President and General Manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway. He was called the greatest promoter in auto racing history by the late Chris Eccnomacki, publisher of National Speed Sport News. His reign as president of both Charlotte Motor Speedway and Speedway Motorsports lasted 35 years and earned him a spot in 14 Halls of Fame including the International Motorsports. Humpy has won 20 national awards and been honored by four governors of North Carolina for his role in helping establish the racing industry as well as travel and tourism. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina where he lettered in football and was a Golden Gloves champion. Humpy is a long time parishioner of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church.
