5 Old Business Tom Dolby asked about the timing of the PGA Professional Championship being early in spring and close to the Senior PGA and the PPC. He also asked why there are no scholarships or aid available for people entering the PGA through the traditional apprentice program. New Business Submitted by John Wallrich - Couple ideas for this fall and possibly new business at our fall meeting: 1. Tournament Calendar: Possibility of getting our Majors into the summer season of our calendar when operations have full staff. For many operations, college and high school staff are gone by 3 rd and 4 th week of August /don t arrive until 4 th week of May. I have always felt it very important for assistants to play in these tournaments when possible or eligible and it seems more assistants are now PGA Members than years ago, therefore spring and fall operations get a little complicated. i. WPGA Match Play ii. WPGA Championship iii. Wisc. State Senior Open b. Having the WPGA Assistants Championship coincide with the WPGA Senior or any major is also a consideration to avoid. Very important for our assistants to play in their championship. c. WPGA/WGCSA Super-Pro possible to move back to early years date which was end of May. Superintendents have early season golf course preparations that effect their participation. i. Important industry event. 2. Could we set up a program along with an announcement for our assistants to get connected for travel this winter to Florida for Winter Tournament Series and other winter tournaments? i. My thinking here is to connect our assistants to travel south for some winter tournaments/play & practice, etc. as they could share expenses and build some wonderful camaraderie. Might be a good project for a group of assistants to coordinate with direction of the office as our office has the data base and contact info. Open Forum Joe Stadler mentioned that he was remiss not to thank a few sponsors including the PGA Tour, Vince Suter and Suter Group, National Car Rental. On the Foundation side he mentioned their top sponsors including the Balance & Believe Foundation, American Family Insurance, Tour Edge, LPGA Classic at Thornberry Creek, Nicolet Bank. Bob Burns thanked everyone for their support of his fundraising efforts to support our military personnel. He also mentioned that he would be submitting Gary D Amato s name for consideration of honorary membership with the WPGA. Bill Graham thanked the staff and asked for a timeline for volunteers for the 2020 Ryder Cup. Mr. Stadler mentioned that he believed we would start recruiting volunteers in fall of The plan is to provide a shift to those that volunteered for the 2015 PGA Championship. Evan Hewes mentioned that Mee-Kwon is looking for a new food/beverage company. There is an RFP due right before Thanksgiving. He encouraged anyone interested to investigate. Meeting adjourned at 2:06p.m.

15 2019 Tournament Policy Board Report Spring Meeting, March 4, 2019 Thank You and Welcome. Thanks to Bryan Brotchie, Geneva National, Eric Gitter, Taylor Made Golf, and Erik Stenseth, University Ridge for their input and service to the TPB. Their terms have expired and we welcome Matt Taken, Tuckaway, Kyle Kunash, Grand Geneva, John Freeman, Edgewood and Evan Wartgow, Koskonong Mounds to the board. Thank you also to Bob Neumann for his multiple tenures on the board and his support of our events. We ask for your help in promoting the expanded field for the 2019 Vince Suter Group Morgan Stanley Wisconsin State Open at Geneva National (Palmer and Trevino Courses). As most of you know, we will have a 204 player field for the 2019 edition of the State Open. The additional 48 spots will come directly from Qualifiers running from July 11 th to our newly added last chance qualifier on August 13 th at Morningstar Golfers Club. To make the event a success, we ask for your help in promoting the larger field and increased qualifying opportunities. Please reach out to your members and guests and let them know, if they have ever desired to play in Wisconsin s marquee event, this is the year to give it a shot, as their chances are greatly increased. The State Open Residency requirement will now include any graduate from a Wisconsin high school or secondary school. Please reach out to anyone you know who may now meet the residency requirement and let them know they are now eligible to attempt to qualify. Big News for the Section Championship!!! After over 15 years of discussion and a few years of dwindling participation, the 2019 Wisconsin Section Championship will be 36 holes over two days at LaCrosse CC on September 9th and 10th. We have seen participation numbers drop in OUR championship over the past 5 years. The latest numbers have decreased the amount of monetary contribution from the PGA Tour, which benefits the Section at large. With the lowering of time commitment and cost, we hope that many more of you can make your way to LaCrosse to play in this event that helps every member of the Section. USGA Rule Changes for 2019: As I am sure you have all heard, the USGA is making some changes to the rules. You can find the rules at USGA.ORG/Rules. They also have an AP available at Apple Store or Google Play. Rules workshop registration is available for March 18 th at Westmoor CC and March 25 th at Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells. For the benefit of yourself and your golfers, we encourage all members to familiarize themselves with the 2019 rules of golf changes. Vegas Baby!!!!: Wow, the 2019 Vegas Pro Am sold out in 12 days. We were overwhelmed with the demand and did add two more teams for the event. We will continue to work on satisfying the demand as best we can in the future, however this event is met with a huge logistical challenge that Chris Hoel and Joe Stadler have done a wonderful job of negotiating through the years. We appreciate their help and will do all we can to continue to make this event the best Section Destination Pro Am in the country. Fall Destination Pro Am on the move. Beginning this fall, the popular Fall Destination Pro Am will rotate from Florida to a high end destination and then back to Scottsdale. We look forward to offering and organizing a fantastic golf trip for you and your Ams to some new parts of the country and possibly the world. Some things change, some stay the same will see some changes: In addition to changes stated above, music will be allowed at Pro Ams and Pro Pros, shorts will be allowed in State Open Qualifiers, the final Pro Pro will be a scramble, the Racine CC, Irish Course, Beloit CC and Oconomowoc Pro Ams will be capped at 28 teams, and the Pro Ladies entry will be $460. Remaining intact will be the format for the Section Match Play and after a well-received inaugural year, the Senior Match Play. TagMarshal may be utilized in some capacity for 2019 and as always, Chris and Joe have put together a fantastic tournament schedule. We hope to see you frequently this year. A Big Thank You: We owe the host staffs and facilities, sponsors, supporters and volunteers a large debt of gratitude for all they offer and provide. Between the WPGA, WAGPA, and Junior Golf events, we utilize over 110 facilities. Potential Sponsors: We are always looking for sponsors for our events and overall tournament schedule. If you have anyone who may be interested, even if they are not a golf company, please reach out to Chris Hoel or Joe Stadler as they have multiple sponsorship agreements. Respectively Submitted: Mark Voeller, TPB Chair. vols@pga.com
