3 a letter from our membership director Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and that you re ready to ring in 2017 here at your Club! We will be temporarily closed this month from January 1st thru January 19th, with the fitness center open Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. We reopen on Friday, January 20th with our regular service hours. Check out the ad in this issue for more information about our Grand Reopening party on Saturday, January 21st. For those of you who might have missed the last Fore & More, Christina Hodges left the Manhattan Country Club to spend some time back home in Texas while her husband is deployed before their baby comes. I ve taken over her position and am thankful for all the time she spent training me over the last few weeks that she was here. Most of you probably know me from the restaurant; I ve worked here at Manhattan Country Club for three years, serving in banquets, Club XIX, and out on the beverage cart. For the last year and a half I ve been Chelsea s assistant and I was sad to see her leave, but excited for her new career opportunity with the K-State Foundation. There s a lot of change happening, but Dave and I will be here if you have any questions. While we might be temporarily closed for the month, if you have any potential members who might be interested in joining, let me know. I would love to give them a tour of the Club and, if they join, you ll both receive an amenity package to start your new year off right. The whole food and beverage staff would like to thank all the members for their support and participation at the club. We have enjoyed our daily interactions with members and look forward to another year. Coming up January 21st is the Grand Reopening Party; be sure to make your reservations early. Take a minute and reflect on some of your favorite moments from 2016! The Centennial Ball was a blast, Member Guest was impressive, and all the other events throughout the year were a huge hit. Thanks to everyone that participated and enjoyed your club! With golf on our minds and winter weather actually setting in, time to start thinking about your future plans for golf. While we have some down time in the Pro-Shop, new grips and spikes are easy fixes to help your golf game out this coming Spring. Also be on the lookout for new equipment being released! See you soon! 8 a letter from our grounds superintendent The new year is here and we are looking forward to a new season here on the golf course at Manhattan Country Club. On the course, the staff has been busy cutting down the pines that have died this past year and spraying for broadleaf weeds. We have also been keeping the course playable during the few nice days we have had for golf. I hope that during the nice weather you will be able to get out and play! Dan, our mechanic, has also been busy working on our equipment and getting it ready for the upcoming season. We hope everyone had a great time over the holidays and hope to see you on the course soon! As always, for this time of year, your patience waiting for frost is greatly appreciated. We have three sets of tiles, enough for twelve ladies, but we highly encourage more to come and others to bring sets of their own! 10 General Manager s Message The holiday season is behind us now and it s time to focus on the year ahead. Due to our annual cleaning and shut down period, all dining operations will be closed from January 1st thru January 19th. The fitness center will be open starting January 4th from 8 AM until 4 PM daily. The office will remain open and Jessica will be in Monday-Friday from 8-4 to answer any billing questions. The Golf Shop will be open from Tuesday Sunday 8-4 as weather permits during this time. We are anxious to start the year off our new Food & Beverage Assistant, Stephanie Bowles. Stephanie, a K-State grad, has several years of experience in ala-carte dining, bartending, and staff training. Please help me welcome her to our team and introduce yourself as you see her throughout the club. Private Stock, the band that played for the Centennial Celebration, will be returning for our Grand Reopening event on Saturday, January 21st. Chef has created a great buffet menu for that evening only so please round up your friends and fellow members and make a reservation today. Based on the popularity of the band from the previous show, I m betting this will be a full house. In closing, please encourage your friends and associates to become part of our club family. We have many different categories of membership available to choose from that are sure to please and no dues until March 1st. Please contact Jessica or I for details.
