10 Course News March is here! Our Spring is Here prediction may have been a little off, but that doesn t mean we aren t preparing for when the season does start. When the weather breaks, we will hit the ground running with our spring maintenance procedures. Weather permitting; we have continued to work on the course with tree and brush work. The excessive snowfall this season has made it difficult to get onto the course in a safe and timely manner, however, the projects are near completion. As always, please be patient on the morning frost delays during this spring season. We are just as anxious as you are to get out on the course and get the season started! As always, please contact us with any questions, comments, or concerns. Mark McKain Golf Course Superintendent Here is Kate Vilkanskas experiencing her first sleigh ride! She had a blast at our First Slip N Sled event! Attention Members!!! To round out our Social Committee, we are seeking two more men interested in sharing their ideas for social events & entertainment. The Social Committee meets once a month for an hour. Please contact Dave Kelley for more details! Did You Know 1. Pickle Ball is the fastest growing sport in America? 2. Chances are your friends, children or grandchildren are learning this fun new sport! 3. Manhattan Country Club has the only Pickle Ball court in town?!? 4. It s a wonderful sport for aging baby boomers and anyone who wants to have fun and get or stay fit! We encourage you to come out to try your hand at it! Many of our Members have played and are looking to additional players this season. If you are interested in learning, Dudley and Judy McCaw are willing to teach all interested players! The equipment for Pickle Ball is located in the Pro Shop, so stop by and try your hand at it!
11 A Letter from Our Golf Pro Greetings, Manhattan Country Club Members! I hope that this message finds you all doing well. Last month, I stated that I was hopeful that we would see some golf in the month of February. As you all know, that has not been the case in the city of Manhattan. That being said, I believe that spring is upon us and we should have some opportunities to play golf in the near future. The month of March does bring a couple of events that I would like to put on your radar. On Thursday, March 20 th we will be holding our annual Men s League Meeting at 5:30pm and on Saturday, March 22 nd (weather permitting) we will kick off the season with the 2014 Polar Open. Should you have any questions on these events or if you d like to sign up for the Polar Open, please call the Golf Shop. Thanks for your time. I look forward to seeing you all very soon. Regards, Blake Graham PGA Head Professional
