Dueling pianos is a form of entertainment that involves performance of requests, comedy, and crowd participation. Whether the pianists are playing classics like Piano Man and Bennie and the Jets, or roasting your best friend on the piano for their birthday, you are guaranteed to leave fulfilled with a night of laughter and entertainment. The dueling pianists come from all over the country and all different kinds of backgrounds. They don't necessarily "duel", but rather work as a team accompanying each other and working the crowd. There is no holding back, so be prepared to have the time of your life. Please make reservations early if you would like to have dinner in Club XIX or the Manhattan Room before the event! 4 Upcoming Events January 1 17 Club Closure Manhattan Country Club will be closed until the 17 th of January for cleaning. The fitness center will be open during the posted hours. The Golf Shop and course will be open if there is no snow or frost on the ground and it is above 38 degrees. January 18 Club Re-Opens Manhattan Country Club re-opens with normal hours! January 18 & 25 Friday Afternoon Cocktails Friday Afternoon Cocktails will resume as usual with drink specials and free light hors d oeuvres from 4 to 6pm. The drawing for the pot of club credit will be held at 6 o clock sharp! January 19 Dueling Pianos Ernie Biggs Dueling Piano Bar is coming to MCC! This is sure to be a party you will not want to miss! Our goal is the pack the ballrooms with members and their guests for a great evening of fun and drinks! January 20 Special Membership Meeting All members are encouraged to attend this meeting. More information will be sent out by mail shortly. January 22 Fitness Workshop Join Gwen in the fitness room she goes over how to use ever all of the small pieces of equipment. January 26 Wine Tasting Help us pick out new wines for the 2013 menu! We will have over 20 different wines to try plus cheese and crackers. January 27 Sunday Brunch Sunday Brunch will be available from 10:30am to 2:00pm on the last Sunday of January. Club Closure Reminder MCC will be closed from January 1 st through January 17 th. 5 News & Events Elite Golf & Fitness Workshop Want to hit the ball farther? Want to feel better & prevent injury? Here s your opportunity! The same Fitness program that is used by the world s top players is now available to the membership at Manhattan Country Club! Janine Young of EGF and John Novosel Jr. of Tour Tempo will be here to take you through the TPI and Tour Tempo Protocols. Saturday, February 9 th from 9:20am until 12:00pm, they will be here to offer the Titleist Performance Institute Package which includes: Complete golf fitness physical evaluation & TPI web-based exercise program at Golf warm up routine FMT tubing for exercises Tour tempo swing analysis When you walk away from this workshop you will have a complete program to improve your body and swing! Fitness Corner New Year, New You! Tuesday, January 22 nd at 5:30pm January is full of resolutions. Make your resolution a reality at Manhattan Country Club. Gwen Mikinski will be hosting a 45 minute seminar on how to use the crazy looking equipment in the fitness room. The big green balance balls, the elastic bands, medicine balls and pvc poles can all work for you! Come get an idea of the possibilities for increasing flexibility, strength and balance. She will conclude the seminar with an easy to make protein shake. $5/person, make your reservation through the MCC office or Gwen at gwenwentland@gmail.com. Ladies Golf Yoga Class Kristin Miller, a 200 RYT Certified Yoga Instructor, is offering a ladies golf specific yoga class on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9 to 10am, starting January 22 nd. There will be a full line up of new golf tournaments and leagues this year with something for everyone.

I would like to wish you good health, happiness, and a great golf score for the New Year. Speaking of some great golf scores to finish the 2012 season include Jack McKain who shot his age of 74. We also had a pair of 69 s recently shot, the first was David Anderson who shot one better than his age and the second was Jim Whelan. Congratulations to all of you for playing exceptional golf. I know that it is not easy trying to find time for golf between work and other obligations, but I hope you will take the time this year to enjoy the golf course. There will be a full line up of new golf tournaments and leagues this year with something for everyone. The complete golf schedule will be included in your statement at the beginning of February, so stay tuned and mark your calendar. As a reminder, the Golf Shop will be closed on New Year's Day. The Club will be closed January 1 st - 17 th ; the Golf Shop will be open when the temperature is above 38 degrees without any snow on the ground. During the next few months the golf staff will be going through the entire bag room to check for any repairs that might need to be addressed with your clubs. If you store your clubs with us, you will be receiving a note from the Golf Shop stating the results of your winterization check and letting you know if there are any repairs that need to be done. This is a great time of year to get your equipment in "tip top" condition and ready for spring. Denny Woods Certified PGA Professional Re-gripping Special! For those of you that are sticking around Manhattan, we have a lot of wonderful opportunities for you to come out and use the club during the winter months.

7 General Manager s Message Happy New Year! I hope that everyone had a fantastic Holiday Season! Thank you to those of you that participated in the employee holiday fund. Your generosity was much appreciated by our employees. As a reminder, if you are traveling to the warm parts of the country during these winter months we have the Private Club Network Program available to you. If you have any questions about the benefits of this program please give Denny a call and he ll be happy to help you through the process of securing a tee time at a participating club. For those of you that are sticking around Manhattan, we have a lot of wonderful opportunities for you to come out and use the club during the winter months. January 18 will be our Grand Reopening and we ll resume the Friday Afternoon Cocktails starting with a $600 pot. January 19 is the Dueling Piano event and we would encourage you to bring guests to this fun filled night. January 26 is our Wine Tasting event to help select new wines to be included on the wine menu. In February, Denny has scheduled some golf lesson opportunities to get you in shape for spring. He s also developed an indoor 9-hole fun Putt-Putt event you ll want to take advantage of. The Chef and Tracy are busy working on a February 12 Fat Tuesday event to celebrate Mardi-Gras and a Valentine s menu which will be published soon. In March we will host a wine dinner, a St. Patty s Party and kick off the golf season with the Polar Open. We will resume the ever popular babysitting service on Valentine s night. We will do this several times throughout the year so you can come out and enjoy the club. Your children will be close by in a safe environment having a great time with other club kids. If you have any gently used games or activities that you would like to donate to MCC for use on these events it would be greatly appreciated.
