2 QUEANBEYAN GOLF CLUBNEWSLETTER Issue31 2 TIP FROM THE TOUR The Captain s Desk From Match Committee Congratulations Mat and Emma! Mat and his wife Emma are excited about the arrival of Maddison Maree Rainsford two weeks ago. Mat would like to thank all the members for their congratulations and well wishes over the past few weeks. Both Maddison and Emma are doing well. Jake, Mat and the Boys If your game needs a tune up, see Matt or Jake in the pro shop. Pennant The 2017 Pennant season is only a couple of weeks away from finals with the hopes of bringing home a pennant. Masters Scratch - will need two strong wins over teams ahead of them on the ladder to make sure they remain in the top four. Masters Handicap - are behind on the ladder but still have a chance but are needing very strong wins in final two rounds. A Grade - The ladder is tight and the team is in third place but on equal points with second placed Federal. Wins over Gungahlin Lakes and Federal will be needed to play in finals. A good win over Yowani last Sunday saw them move into third place. A Reserve - A shorter season for this grade and unfortunately the team did not have the results required to play in the finals. Thank you to all team members and hopefully in 2018 we will be stronger. Handicap - With just one round to play it is not possible for this team to move far enough up the ladder for finals. Thank you to George Mason and his team for participating in season 2017 and with the hope that 2018 will see better result. Juniors - Our Junior team sits in fourth place and will have a home game against Yowani this coming Sunday and then the last round will be against Gold Creek. Team Manager Jerry Smith and players are wished success over the next two rounds and we all look forward to seeing the team in finals. 4BBB Matchplay Championship - The qualifying round for this popular event will be held on Saturday 18 March. Players hoping to play in the matchplay rounds are asked to pay an extra $3 on qualifying day so they are identified and the draw can be done for the 1st round of matchplay on Saturday 25 March. New Brighton visit - On the weekend of 1 and 2 April we will welcome the players from New Brighton and hopefully our team will again be victorious. The NBN connection to the club is now complete and online bookings and the speed of processing scores should be trouble free.

4 QUEANBEYAN GOLF CLUBNEWSLETTER Issue31 4 GM s Update From David Doyle Firstly, I would like to thank all our members that are using the clubhouse facilities more and more. We are lucky to have a strong group of local regulars that are here 3 or 4 days a week having lunch, bringing family in for dinner or socialising with other regulars. They choose to come to this club rather than another club or pub in the area, a big thank you to them, you know who you are. Our function facilities are being booked more and more lately, with several booking here after attending a function previously. As I do most of the booking and organisation for functions I have been very happy to hear many people say they book here because the food is great as is the price. The atmosphere in the club is welcoming and the staff both bar and catering do a great job. I believe as members of this club we should all be out there telling others about our facilities and talking up the club to others. We know we have a great golf course but we also have a great facility in our bar and catering and our deck overlooking the 18th green is a priceless asset, let s get that message to our friends, family and workmates. I would like to thank all our volunteers for helping on the course and in the office with a special thanks to Paul Morshead and Des Byrne, they are continually in the club or on the course helping myself and staff. I know I do it all the time and I am going to do it again, please think of using our sponsors, they are many and varied, they supply services from financial to physiotherapy, kitchen cabinets to alarm systems, if you are in the market for something they supply speak to a sponsor and get a quote.
