The ladies stepped up their games and posted some great scores. 10 TENNIS UPDATE Tennis Tip of the Month by Jennifer Sparks Groundstroke Racket Preparation Good shot preparation is the key to having great ground strokes. When hitting ground strokes your shot is made up of two things: footwork and racket preparation. Footwork is very important in tennis and the first step in hitting a good shot! Make sure you split step, pivot on the foot that is in the direction where the ball is heading and get there as soon as possible to set up for your shot. This is important for having a solid foundation for a properly timed backswing! Racket preparation is the key to generating power because it is the source of your racket head speed. Make sure you are not catching the ball late or too early as that can lean to misplacement and losing control of your shot. When you split step take your racket back at the same time as you pivot and move towards the ball. Your racket should be prepared back and below the ball by the time the ball has crossed the net! This should help your ground strokes be more effective when playing! Remember the two keys are footwork and racket preparation

She received a bachelor s degree with honors in Business Management from the University of Houston in May She has worked in customer service since the age of 18, but found her true passion in hospitality when she started working at the Westin Galleria and the Westin Oaks Houston in February When she is not focused on work, she love spending time with her 7-year-old son, Gabriel.
