1 The WRCC Golf Committee Newsletter WE WANT TO MAKE THIS THE GOLF COURSE, WHERE PEOPLE DESIRE TO PLAY Our Golf Course The Greens Committee has come and gone and the course is giving a huge round of applause for the rain which it received. The trench on the 13th hole has been marked as GUR so please use Rule 25 as made provision for under die R&A Rules of Golf 2016/2017. The course is putting a huge demand on the staff and we request members to be patient if all is not up to scratch. However if you as member do see something that is just not getting any attention, please contact the club to report this, so that the matter can be addressed. **** Our Clubhouse The veranda was painted and all the lights were repaired. I have to say it makes a huge difference to the appearance. We need to replace our chairs on the veranda (and only on the veranda) and therefore we have put up a list for those who would be interested in sponsoring a chair. The cost is R200 per chair and a name plaque will be placed on the chair if you should require this. We would like this done by the end of October so please all of you who could assist, register now. We have had another 2 successful functions, being BMW Prize Giving & Dinner and another school reunion from Rob Ferreira. In both instances the members and visitors had a great time. Please contact Dalton if you would like to use the area, so we can cater to your needs. **** Announcements & Requests For us to give our members & visitors a better golfing experience, we need to raise funds outside our normal membership fees, 100 club & R10 draws. So what do we need to do? I m sure all of you, reading this, have a hat full of ideas. What WRCC is looking for is a Fundraising coordinator/organiser/champion to take the fundraising role by the scruff of the neck and make it work. If any of you are interested in being this individual, please contact any of the WRCC Management Committee members. I urge you again to place your half-way order before you tee-off as this will enable a quicker service and not create delays at the half-way point of your round. If you did not place your order before the round started, you could call them to place an order ( Option 5) before you tee-off on your last hole before your half-way. I thank you for your assistance regarding this matter and look forward to seeing you all ordering a meal after/during your round of golf. ****

Rounds are staying an issue and Dalton & I are planning a marketing drive. We will give more detail about this soonest possible. How could you help? It is simple we need to promote our club to the foreign traveller. This will mean that we need to create an attractive package for them to come and support our club during their visit. If you have any contacts for us, we would appreciate it. Membership This is an up and down number as we are getting in members and at the same time we have members relocating. Please see the notice board for the names of the new members and make them feel welcome at WRCC. Do you have a friend who might want to become a member? Please contact the club for our affordable membership options. Accounts For those members who have not paid their annual subs or have not made any arrangements with the WRCC Management will, according to the constitution, not be able to use any of the facilities of WRCC. Please contact Ilonja; accounts@whiterivercountryclub.co.za or ; if you have any doubts about your account and I am sure she will gladly assist to get the matter resolved. Handicap If you are seeing, on the handicap system, that the opening of a round and the actual capturing of rounds are not 100%, it means that you are not opening a round when you play. Please ensure that the Pro-Shop opens a round for you whenever you play. By doing this your % should become better aligned. Talking about the Pro-Shop, please make sure that you always get a receipt for what you have purchased. It is a control function and also good practice. Further it has come to our attention that members are not all handing in their score cards. We require all score cards to be handed in so we can verify that you have captured your score correctly. Your cooperation regarding this will be appreciated.
