On Monday, May 12, from 12-4 PM we will be hosting poolside grilling with Cheeseburger, Grilled Chicken Breast Sandwiches, Hot Dogs and $5 Drink Specials! RSVP at ! Cinco de Mayo Celebrate Cinco de Mayo from 11 AM-6 PM with $4 drink specials and $5 Fish or Chicken tacos at the Treviso Bay Grille! Resort Pool Use The resort and lap pools are amenities which are shared as common areas with all other owners or residents. If food or drinks are brought to the pool or purchased a the restaurant, please clean up any food or drink spills before leaving the pool area. Please remember food and beverages are prohibited in the pool and on the pool deck area, animals are not permitted in the fenced pool area at all, glass containers are not permitted within the fenced pool area as per Florida Administration Code 64E Attention All Tennis Players If you would like to be on the list for tennis events and notices, please send your name, address and level of play (if you know it to: shedrick@theiconteam.com. 6 PAGE 6 Note from our Golf Course Dear TPC Treviso Bay Member: Attached is the 2014 Summer Reciprocal List and Reciprocal Request Form. The Reciprocal List gives you specific information regarding which local clubs with whom we have agreements, pricing and closed days. All reciprocal requests must be made by the Golf Shop. Members are asked to refrain from calling reciprocal clubs directly. The Reciprocal Request Form may be turned in to the Golf Shop up to 7 days in advance. The staff at TPC Treviso Bay will attempt to secure your requested tee times 2 days in advance (for example: A Wednesday request would be called on Monday). Members are reminded to be specific and flexible with your requested clubs and time-frames. We are not able to book a tee time outside your range nor choose secondary courses for you to play. Please keep in mind that members from each of the nearly 200 clubs in our area will be taking advantage of reciprocal season and will be vying for similar tee times. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions regarding the Reciprocal Program. 7 PAGE 7 Treviso Bay Tennis Calling all tennis players As summer months approach, tennis will be growing stronger. I have added Treviso Bay to a reciprocal list that will bring Round Robin play here starting in May. Please make sure to contact the Tennis Pro Shop for details on the different days, start times, and levels. Treviso Bay held its First Annual Horse and Free-throw competition in April. Though many tried, no one could take down the skillful and accurate shooting of Mr. John Hockstra. His skillful game winning HORSE shot was a classic behind the basket nothing but net swish! The Free-Throw competition came down to an exciting sudden death Shot for Shot match. After the competitors were tied in their best of 10 Free-Throws it came down to Mr. Hockstra making one more than his opponent. Mr. Hockstra now has bragging rights until next year s competition! Please keep your eyes and ears open for all sporting activities here at Treviso Bay. All activities are open for any member who wishes to participate! All ages and skill levels are welcome to participate for any and all sport activities. Join us for Bocce, Tennis or Basketball. 8 PAGE 8 Treviso Bay Fitness TRADE SLOW CARDIO FOR INTERVAL TRAINING The road to a leaner body isn't a long slow march. It's bursts of high intensity effort (anaerobic exercise) paired with less-intense slower recovery efforts. Fifteen to 20 minutes of interval training can burn as many calories as an hour of traditional steady-state cardio. Unlike the slow stuff, intervals can keep your body burning long after the workout ends. 5 REASONS TO TRY INTERVAL TRAINING 1. Interval training burns more calories in less time than continuous cardio. 1 hour verses 20 minutes... I'll take the 20 minutes! 2. Interval training burns more fat. Doing shorts burst of higher intensity exercises encourages the body to burn fat as fuel. Higher post-workout metabolic rate. 3. Interval training works for all fitness levels. Beginners can use interval training to slowly work their way up to higher-intensity exercise, such as walk-jog intervals which can help one work up to a continuous run. Advanced exercisers can use high-intensity intervals to improve speed, power and sport-specific performance. 4. Interval training can boost your fitness level. Research studies found that subjects who preformed interval training improved their cardiovascular fitness by 13%. While the control group that did traditional steady-state cardio, showed no improvement to their endurance. 5. Interval training can combat boredom. Rather than drudging away at the same boring intensity, intervals keep your mind engaged and helps your workout go faster by breaking down one long workout into smaller, more manageable chunks of time.
