2 The 2 nd annual College Alumni Invitational Water Polo Tournament will be held on Saturday/ Sunday, February 22-23, 2014 at the Long Center in Clearwater, FL with a golf tournament held in conjunction on Friday, February 21st. The tournament is an invitational so please Nick Gaffey at Ngaffey@usawaterpolo.org if you are interested in bringing a team. We need a rep for the men and women from each team. USA Water Polo Youth Clinic: This year we are also adding a youth clinic after the final games on Sunday in order to promote try and get age group polo going in the area. If you would be interested in participating in the clinic as a coach, or have kids that are interested in participating in the youth clinic, please let me know. TOURNAMENT DETAILS: The concept of this event is to have a tournament down in sunny Southwest Florida with teams comprised of Alumni from the same alma mater. If you are interested in playing please contact your Alumni representative(s). If you would like to be added as a team rep, or want your team included, please Ngaffey@usawaterpolo.org. There will also be a golf outing on Friday and a social on Saturday evening. The pool is located on the beach in downtown St. Petersburg. The nightlife in the area is exciting and the pool is in an amazing location in Clearwater, Florida. AGE GROUP: Men s and Women s open and master s. DATE: Saturday/Sunday, February 22-23, LOCATION: We have decided to move the tournament from Naples to ease travel concerns and cost, however we are keeping it on the west coast of Florida and will be hosting this year s event at The Long Center at 1501 N. Belcher Rd., Clearwater, FL

3 MATCHES: Games will be played in the 50 Meter pool at the Long Center. All matches will be 4 quarters of 6 minutes each with one 30-second time-out, and 1- minute between quarters and half. 5 Entry Fee: Entry fee for this event is $350 per team if registered and paid before January 15, 2014, $450 if paid before January 31 st, and $500 if paid anytime in February. Each team will be assured of 4 games. Team representatives will collect fees from athletes. Registration: Teams can pay with any major credit card by visiting then clicking the events tab, then selecting College Alumni Tournament. Teams can also pay by sending a check to: Southeast Premier WPC 4129 Edgewater Drive Orlando, FL Equipment: Game balls will be provided. Teams need to provide their own caps. They should be numbered 1-18 and should have a red #1 for the goalkeeper. No warm-up balls will be provided. Awards: Team Trophies will be awarded to the teams placing first and second. Tournament champions will have a plaque added to the tournament cup with previous winners. Competition Schedule: Game times will be communicated after all entries have been received. This information will be posted five days prior to the first day of the tournament. All teams should plan to be available to compete from 9:00am on the first day of the tournament through 4:00pm on the final day of the Tournament. Divisions: Depending on how many teams and athletes sign up, different age and gender divisions may be formed. If there is enough interest a women s division will be formed, otherwise teams will be co-ed. Tournament Deadlines: February 1, teams must confirm participation. February 10, Entry fee due. February 15, Rosters are due.

6 Rules and Code of Ethics: All games will be played under USAWP rules. The duration of the game shall be four periods each of six minutes of actual play. The Tournament will follow the USA Water Polo Code of Conduct for athletes, coaches and officials. Roster Information: Team representatives will complete the rosters and make sure everyone has valid USWP memberships. A discounted weekend league membership will be available for the event. Visit to sign up. Each team will be required to have 1 member registered as coach. Players do not have to be registered to the same USWP club to participate. The team representative will select and submit team names. Rosters are due February 15, Players do not have to have graduated from the institution, just played at least 1 season with that team in the past. Golf on February 21, 2014: We have selected a course for the golf outing, and have 10 four some tee times (40 players) reserved starting from 11 am to 12:15 PM, on Friday Feb 21, If you are a golfing water polo player, be enthusiastic because you are going to be playing one of the top five public access courses in Florida and top 100 in the Americas, World Woods Pine Barrens: The green fee/cart rate we have negotiated is $99 per player including warm up range balls. The course is a minute drive north from Clearwater Florida, along the Florida gulf coast. To encourage those of us who like to play a full round with our own ball, the format of this event is two person teams playing best ball, with some gag prizes for the 3 low gross score teams. In this format, everybody plays his or her own ball on every hole, and the best score per two-person team per hole is recorded.
