Spano May 15, 2017 Dear Fellow Llanerch Members: One of golf s great rewards is the opportunity to help caddies afford a college education. As a Llanerch member and a trustee of the J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship Trust, I am reaching out to my fellow members in an effort to increase the total annual LCC contribution to the Trust. Back in 1958, The Golf Association of Philadelphia (GAP) and Mr. J. Wood Platt conceived the Scholarship Trust that today is one of the premier regional caddie scholarship programs in America, distributing $1.1 million annually to qualified caddies enabling them to study at the college or university of their choice. We at Llanerch are very fortunate to have an excellent caddie program. Since the Trust s inception, over 100 Llanerch caddies have received some sort of financial aid from the Trust. This deserves our continued support. Today, seven of Llanerch s finest caddies are enrolled in universities with the help of the Trust. The maximum award is currently $10,000 per year and all grants are based upon the financial need of the applicant and their family. Since the Trust s inception in 1958, Llanerch caddies have received almost $600,000 in financial aid. One other outstanding program offered by the Trust to caddies is the Platt-Evans Caddie Scholarship. This is a joint program with the Western Golf Association which operates the BMW Championship and the Evans Scholars Foundation. The program sends the brightest and highest achieving caddies with a need to Penn State, University Park or Miami OH University, for a full, four year housing and tuition scholarship. There are currently seven recipients of this honor in the entire Golf Association of Philadelphia and I am pleased to share that four of our caddies at Llanerch have received this highest honor. Christian Smith, the first Platt-Evans recipient, will be graduating with honors from Miami OH and has already secured a job in Chicago. His brother Jared will be a junior at Penn State University, Vincent Lucchesi just completed his freshman year at PSU and Austin Farinella will be starting at PSU this fall. This is life changing for these young individuals and their families. As a Trustee, I am asking each of my fellow Llanerch members to consider supporting our caddies through this Trust. Since 2010, we continue to be a Top 20 Giving Club in the GAP with our average giving around $28,000 per year. I am proud to share that in 2016, Llanerch set a record for giving over $31,000 to the Trust!

Emeno, Jr. Our current program assesses $35 annually to member accounts and some of our members have contributed at higher levels in the past through Dawn to Dusk. The Trust is deeply grateful for the past generosity of all Llanerch members. The Par Club is an excellent way of continuing your support of the Trust and specifically Llanerch caddies. In 1978, the Par Club was created to provide a means for the more generous supporters of the Trust to be recognized. By donating a minimum of $250 you can become a Par Club member. The giving club has also grown to include a Birdie Level of $500, Eagle Level of $750, Double Eagle of $1,000 and Lifetime of $10,000 (broken down into 4 contributions of $2,500). Please join other Llanerch members and the more than 4,000 other donors throughout GAP that have supported the Trust over the last 5 years. Today, there are 191 caddies of 51 member clubs in GAP that are receiving some sort of financial aid from the Trust. Unfortunately, there is still $1.4 million of additional tuition expenses for these caddies that is not met by the Trust. If each member at each club in the GAP does their part, I am confident that we can help shrink the unmet tuition needs for our caddies. There is no better feeling than knowing you are helping a young man or woman further their education. The J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship Trust is working hard to achieve important results for the game of golf in this area. They need our support! On behalf of the Trust and the caddies who receive this aid, I want to thank all of those who have been so generous in the past and in advance thank those who will become Par Club members this year and beyond. 4 CADDIE SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS Austin Farinella - Penn State University Platt-Evans Scholar I am honored to have this scholarship as it is an opportunity of a lifetime. Discipline, dedication, and hard work while caddying at Llanerch has taught me many life lessons to reach my future endeavor. Shane Dougherty - West Chester University J. Wood Platt Scholar The caddie scholarship has been tremendous for me and my family. The contributions from the J. Wood Platt organization have allowed me to attend college with fewer student loans, and therefore graduate with less student debt. I have also had the ability to meet other caddies with similar interests as mine through J. Wood events such as the annual brunch. It is a terrific program and hopefully it keeps on growing and growing. Vincent Lucchesi, Penn State University Platt-Evans Scholar Receiving the J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship has changed my life. Without the scholarship it would have been difficult to afford higher education. The J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship has given me the opportunity to receive a good education. The education I am receiving will allow me to be successful in my future career. Jared A. Smith - Penn State University Platt-Evans Scholar The Platt-Evans Scholarship has given me the opportunity to expand my network, helped me get closer to being financially independent, and become friends with other caddies that have been given the opportunity to reach for the same goals.

Wood Scholarship takes some financial pressure off mine and my parents shoulders, and all I have to do is send them my grades every semester. Also, it s a great conversation starter while on the course caddying. Christian Smith, Graduate of Miami, OH First Platt-Evans Scholar The Platt-Evans Scholarship changed my life drastically. The scholarship not only allowed me to attend Miami University on a full ride, which has set me on a path towards financial stability, but it also provided me with a network of friends and mentors that have been instrumental in my success in college which will continue into the future. 11 In the academic year, we are awarding $1.15 million in scholarships to 191 Platt Caddie-Scholars. Since the inception of the Trust, more than $20 million has been awarded to 3,450 caddies. Your support is necessary for us to continue our mission of supporting the financial needs of our caddie-scholars in their educational pursuits. Contributions to the Par, Birdie, Eagle, and Double Eagle levels will receive an engraved bag tag and a listing in our Year in Review. Those giving at the Birdie level or higher will also receive an invitation to play in the J. Wood Platt Cup. Lifetime Contributors will receive an engraved pewter bag tag, an annual invitation to the J. Wood Platt Cup and Caddie Brunch, as well as a lifetime listing in the Year in Review. Funds generated from the Lifetime Program will be automatically deposited into a permanent endowment to preserve the future stability of the Trust. Those who have completed a Lifetime contribution and would like to continue their support on a yearly basis may consider the Sustaining Lifetime donation level. In contrast to the Lifetime donations above, Sustaining Lifetime funds go directly toward funding caddie-scholar grants for the year given.
