4 Club Notices Youth World Cup Congratulations to local rider Josh Robins, who was selected to be part of the AQHA-NZ team to compete at this years Youth World Cup. This is to be held in Kreuth, Germany on 21 st 29 th July. Good Luck!!!! Ribbons Day BBQ Our next ribbons day is to be held on the 25 th of March at the Stratford A&P Grounds, to start at 9am. The programme is included in this issue. We will be having a BBQ/potluck lunch (Gold Coin donation) in order to use up the donated meat from the A&P show. Please bring a salad or something to share for this meal. Also, if we could please have some volunteers to help in cooking this meal, it would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!! Volunteers We desperately require stewards, announcers and helpers for our shows (next is Ribbons day, 25 th March). We as a club have a large member base and it would be great if we could see more of you getting involved and helping out. Please contact Lisa Knowles if you can assist at our next show. Rule Books Please note that some of the reining patterns have been changed. To get a new updated rule book, contact the NZ Western Riding Federation secretary, or if you are an AQHA member, new rule books can be obtained online via the AQHA website. Raffles The Painting raffle is to be drawn at the ribbons day. Please bring all outstanding tickets and sold books to the show, or give to some one who is if you are not. We are missing numbers 0-20, 21-40, if you have these books, please ensure they are returned by the show so the raffle can be drawn and no-one misses out! Newsletter Please note that your newsletters can be ed to you. Not only do you get your newsletter sooner and in colour, it helps the club to save money. If you would like to receive your newsletter by , please contact Lisa Knowles or Jodi Cartwright. Club Days Please note that club days are not clinics. Members will offer assistance on the day if necessary, however, for more structured instruction, please attend a clinic. Guess Who! 6 AQHA-NZ QUARTER HORSE AMATEUR CLINIC ( open to Amateur/Rookie/Novice riders ) To be held at MANFEILD INTERNATIONAL INDOOR STADIUM Manfeild Park, KawaKawa Road Feilding On 2 nd & 3 rd June 2012 ( Queens Birthday weekend ) Riding will be from 9 4 both days with top Australian trainer / rider, Dawn Marshall ( coach to the Australian Amateur Trans Tasman Team ) along with some of our best NZ trainers. Riders will be grouped by ability and all groups will rotate around and work with all the trainers over the two days. A variety of skills and riding styles will be covered with a focus on improving communication between horse and rider, rider position and precision of manoeuvres. Come and experience one of the best internationally recognised indoor facilities in the southern hemisphere, have a great ride with great friends and hopefully make some new ones! Also find out about the AQHA-NZ Amateur programme and what it has to offer you. Cost is $120 for the weekend per rider*or $25 on the rail per day anyone may watch *you must ride a Quarter Horse but you do not have to own it **Remember if you have already attended one of our clinics as a non AQHA-NZ rider then you must become an AQHA-NZ member to attend this clinic. (Membership forms can be found on the AQHA-NZ website.) Come along and have a go and see what the AQHA-NZ Amateur Programme is all about. BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL!!!
