5 SHOW RULES - NORFOLK HUNT HORSE SHOW 1. Every class offered herein which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current USEF Rules Book will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. 2. Entries Close May 25. They must be made on official forms and signed by each exhibitor, rider, driver, handler and trainer(s), or his/her agent(s). If the owner is less than 21 years old, the entry blank must be signed by a representative who is of age and who by such signature individually assumes responsibility and risk as stated above signature. The entry blank must include the exhibitor s home address and zip code. 3. Refunds of entry fees will not be made unless a vet or doctor s certificate of lameness, injury, or illness is shown. A scratch fee of $30.00 will be charged. 4. Post-entries will be charged a fee of $ There will be an Office Fee of $20.00 charged to each horse showing. 6. The Show Management reserves the right to vary or change show officials or judges, move, cancel, divide or combine classes. 7. Please remember to bring your Pony and Junior Hunter measurement cards and Amateur-Owner certification. Numbers will not be issued without them. ATTENTION ALL ENTRIES: *An open check must be left in the office to obtain your number. THIS REQUIREMENT INCLUDES ALL HORSES AND RIDERS.* 8. Proper attire must be worn by a competitor at all times. All riders must wear protective headgear. 9. A schooling area will be provided. No poling allowed. 10. Dogs MUST be leashed at all times. A $100 fine will be levied automatically on the entry form if a loose dog is found and identified. 11. A trophy and/or cash and eight ribbons will be awarded in all classes unless otherwise stated. Trophies and ribbons will be awarded at ringside during the show at completion of classes. Prize money will be automatically deducted from your entry fees. 12. Current USEF rules relating to drugs and medications will be enforced. Each horse entered must pay $7.00 Drug and Medication Fee plus a $5.00 US Equestrian Federation fee. 13. Proof of Negative Coggins must accompany each horse as it enters the Norfolk Hunt Horse Show grounds. Test must be dated within 6 months for out-of-state horses and 24 months for Massachusetts horses. 14. A $20 fee for all Hunter and Equitation warmups. 15. General Parking: Vans and trailers only will be parked in an area near the rings. Limit of one vehicle may park in upper lot with vans containing 4+ horses. General car parking will be at some distance from there. 16. An EMT will be on the grounds during show hours. 17. All horses will be assessed $1.00 for MHC horse show insurance. 18. Life, senior active, and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at Preliminary Level or above Combined Driving Competitions at the advanced level, Dressage, Reining, and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Riders provided the respective breed/discipline dues or breed/discipline category fee has been paid. A non-member many participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessees, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions, and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $20 nonmember registration fee and a $5 breed/discipline category fee for each breed/discipline. Participants in the following classes are exempt from the requirements of this rule; 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk/trot and academy classes (Academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA endorsed Reining Competitions. Also exempted from this requirement are citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation; 8) USEA beginner novice division, and 9) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes. (See GR of the Federation rules.) 19. All hunter classes will be judged on performance and soundness unless otherwise noted. 20. If in the case of a Cooler or Perpetual trophy class being divided, the highest total points receives the trophy or in the case of a tie, a coin toss decides. 21. All Saturday entries must be settled by end of day at Saturday horse show. 22. Entries are limited to 40 except for low hunters. 23. For jumper classes, the following fence dimensions will define each level: LEVEL 1. Fences 2 9 to 3 0 in height and 3 0 to 3 6 in spread. (Triple bars/liverpools to 4 0 ). LEVEL 2. Fences 3 0 to 3 3 in height and 3 3 to 3 9 in spread. (Triple bars/liverpools to 4 3 ). LEVEL 3. Fences 3 3 to 3 6 in height and 3 6 to 4 0 in spread. (Triple bars/liverpools to 4 6 ). LEVEL 4. Fences 3 6 to 3 9 in height and 3 9 to 4 3 in spread. (Triple bars to 4 9, Water to 8 ). LEVEL 5. Fences 3 9 to 4 0 in height and 4 0 to 4 6 in spread. (Triple bars to 6 0, Water to 9 ). 24. Dimensions of Show Rings and Footing: Jumper Ring x 150 grass, Hunter Ring x 125 grass, Ring x 100 grass 4

6 EQUITATION DIVISIONS SHORT STIRRUP EQUITATION DIVISION - Rated AA NEHC, MHC, SEHA Open to riders 12 years of age or under. Not to compete in any other equitation class at any show and has not competed in a jumping class exceeding 18 in height. To be judged at a walk, trot and canter with only 8 riders to canter at one time. Snowy River Championship Trophy and Ribbons. 2 Short Stirrup Equitation Flat Entry Fee $25 3 Short Stirrup Equitation over Fences Entry Fee $25 4 Short Stirrup Equitation Championship Entry Fee $25 4x. Short Stirrup Division LEADLINE DIVISION 5 Leadline Entry Fee $15 Open to riders 8 years of age and under, who are not competing in any other division. To be shown collectively at the walk, and individually at the trot. To be judged with emphasis on equitation; also suitability and manners of mount to be considered. To be lead on foot and leader must be at least 14 years of age. May not compete in any other class except Leadline Championship. 6 Leadline Championship Entry Fee $15 Same specifications as class 5. Entry must have been entered, shown and judged in class #5 in order to compete in this class. WALK TROT DIVISION - Rated AA NEHC, MHC, SEHA Open to riders 10 years of age or under. To be shown at a walk and trot only. Open to horses or ponies. Riders must not have been judged in a class at a show that required a canter or lope. No child entered may compete in any other class requiring entries to canter or lope. (USEF current tests 1-5). To fill a class at least 4 competitors must complete the course. Contestants may not cross-enter into the USET or the ASPCA Horsemanship classes at any show during the year. 23 Charles Owen Children s Medal Entry Fee $35 Horse 3, Pony (Management determines). Open to Junior riders who are not competing at the same show in any hunter or equitation class in which the fences exceed 3 3. To be shown over a minimum of 8 fences the required height including a combination and at least two changes of direction after the first fence. Two or more tests of the top 4 competitors are required. The same horse must be used in all phases. Only one rider per horse. To fill the class, 3 riders must complete the course. The rider must be a member in order for points to count toward qualifying for the finals. If entries warrant, this class may be divided by horses and ponies. (Finals fence heights: Horses 3, Ponies Sm/Med 2 and Lrg. 2 6 ) CLASS DESCRIPTIONS 5 25 MHC Mini Medal Entry Free $30 Open to Junior Members of Massachusetts Horseman s Council (MHC) who have not reached their 15th birthday and have not competed in classes where the entry is required to jump 3. All contestants are to compete over a course not exceeding 8 fences and not less than 6 fences, excluding combination fences, at a height not to exceed 2 6. One or more individual tests may be requested at the judge's discretion. (USEF current tests 1-5). To fill a class at least 4 competitors must complete the course. Once a contestant has qualified, they are no longer eligible to compete in that class for the remainder of that show season. 27 Show Circuit Magazine National Children s Medal Entry Fee $35 Open to Junior Members of USEF and CEF who have never competed in a national equitation final with fences at 3 (i.e., USEF Medal, ASPCA Maclay, USET, CET or CEF Finals, WIHS Capital Cup.) To be shown over a minimum of 8 fences 2 9 to 3 in height, spread not to exceed fence height. The course may be either a Jumper or Hunter type course and must include at least two changes of direction and a combination. Water obstacles (i.e., water jump, liverpool) are not permitted. The top four riders, or 20% of the first round competitors, which ever is greater, are required to perform at least two individual tests from USEF tests An open numerical scoring system must be used in the first round, with each rider's score announced at the completion of their round. 29 HBO Junior Medal Entry Fee $35 Open to Junior riders. To be shown over a minimum of 8 fences at 3 6 including a combination and at least two changes of direction after the first fence. Two or more tests of the top 4 competitors are required. The same horse must be used in all phases. Only one rider per horse. To fill the class, 3 riders must complete the course. The rider must be a member in order for points to count toward qualifying for the Finals. 30 MHC Junior Hunt Seat Medal Entry Fee $30 Open to Junior Members of the Massachusetts Horseman s Council who have not reached their 18th birthday. All contestants are required to perform over a course of at least 8 fences not exceeding 3. One or more tests of the top contestants may be requested at the judge s discretion. (USEF tests 1-18). To fill a class, 4 competitors must complete the course. Once a contestant has qualified, they are no longer eligible to compete in that class for the remainder of that show season. 31 SEHA Junior Hunt Seat Medal Entry Fee $30 Open to Junior Members of SEHA who have not reached their 18th birthday. All contestants are to compete over a course not exceeding 8 fences with height not exceeding 3. One or more individual tests may be requested at the judge's discretion. (USEF current test 1-5). To fill a class at least 4 competitors must complete the course. 32 NEHC Junior Hunt Seat Medal Entry Fee $30 Open to Junior Members of the New England Horseman s Council who have not reached their 18th birthday. All contestants are required to perform over a course of at least 8 fences not exceeding 3 3. One or more tests of the top contestants may be requested at the judge's discretion. (USEF tests 1-18). One win required to qualify for the finals. To fill a class, 4 competitors must complete the course. 33 Pessoa/USEF Hunt Seat Medal Entry Fee $35 Open to Junior Members of USEF who have not yet reached their 18th birthday. Affiliate members are not eligible. Application for membership may be made directly to the USEF office or the exhibitor may join prior to the class through the Steward. USEF current tests NHSAA/ASPCA Maclay Entry Fee $35 Open to Junior riders who have not reached their 18th birthday. No participant will be allowed in a class unless they are a Junior Patron, and must show their ASPCA number on the entry blank. Annual contribution shall be $ Application for membership may be made directly to the Horsemanship Department of ASPCA, 441 East 92nd Street, New York, NY All contestants are required to perform over at least 8 fences not exceeding 3 6 with or without wings.

7 CLASS DESCRIPTIONS continued 35 USET Jumping Talent Search Entry Fee $30 Open to Junior/Young Riders who are members of the USET and USEF who have not reached their 21st birthday under USEF Rules. 36 SEHA Adult Amateur Hunt Seat Medal Entry Fee $30 Open to Adult Amateur Members of SEHA. All contestants are required to perform over at least 8 fences not to exceed 3. One or more individual tests of the top 4 contestants may be requested at the judge's discretion. (USEF test 1-17). To fill a class, at least 4 competitors must complete the course. 37 Charles Owen Adult Hunt Seat Medal Entry Fee $35 Open to Adult Amateur riders. To be shown over a minimum of 8 fences at 3 including a combination and at least two changes of direction after the first fence. Two or more tests of the top 4 competitors are required. The same horse must be used in all phases. Only one rider per horse. To fill the class, 3 riders must complete the course. The rider must be a member in order for points to count toward qualifying for the Finals. 39 MHC Adult Amateur Hunt Seat Medal Entry Fee $30 Open to Adult Members of MHC. All contestants are required to perform over at least 8 fences 2 6 to 2 9, with at least 1 change of direction. One or more individual tests of the top 4 contestants may be requested at the judge s discretion. (USEF tests 1-17). To fill a class at least 4 competitors must complete the course 40 NEHC Adult Amateur Hunt Seat Medal Entry Fee $30 Open to Adult Amateur Members of the NEHC. All contestants are required to perform over at least 8 fences not to exceed 3. One or more individual tests of the top 4 contestants may be requested at the judge s discretion. (USEF tests 1-17). To fill a class, at least 4 competitors must complete the course. 41 Ariat National Adult Hunt Seat Medal Entry Fee $30 Open to all Amateur Members of USEF or CEF who are eligible to compete in the Adult Amateur Hunter section at the show where the qualifying class is held. The top 4 riders, or 20% for the first round competitors, whichever is greater, are required to perform at least two individual tests from USEF Tests An open numerical scoring system must be used in the first round, with each rider s score announced at the completion of the round. MODIFIED ADULT EQUITATION DIVISION - Rated A MHC, Rated SEHA Open to horses and ponies to be ridden by amateur adults. Fences not to exceed 2 6. Division Fee $75 or $30 per class 42 Modified Adult Equitation Flat 43 Modified Adult Equitation Fences Modified Adult Equitation Fences x Modified Adult Equitation Division HUNTER DIVISIONS SHORT STIRRUP HUNTER DIVISION - Rated AA NEHC, MHC, SEHA Open to riders 12 years of age or under. To be shown over a course of 4 to 8 fences at a height of 18. The fences shall be cross rails or verticals with no combination. Rider is not to compete in any other class that requires jumping fences any higher than 18. Farnley Bow Bell Championship Trophy and Ribbons. Division Fee $100 or $30 per class 100 Short Stirrup Hunter This is the first round for the SS Hunter Class and also is the first round of Short Stirrup Classic 101 Short Stirrup Hunter Stake 102 Short Stirrup Hunter Under Saddle To be shown at walk, trot and canter with only 8 horses or ponies to canter at one time. 102x Short Stirrup Hunter Division SHORT STIRRUP CLASSIC Entry Fee $ Short Stirrup Classic Riders qualify for this class in Class 100 Short Stirrup Hunter. This is the second round for the SS Classic. The first round of the SS Hunter Class is the first round for the SS Classic. SPECIAL JUNIOR HUNTER DIVISION, Rated SEHA Open to horses and ponies to be ridden by juniors. Rider and horse/pony combination may not enter any other USEF, MHJ or NEHC hunter division. Fences not to exceed 2 3. Gladys Hoyt Memorial Championship Trophy and Ribbons Division Fee $75 or $30 per class 111 Special Junior Hunter 112 Special Junior Hunter Stake 113 Special Junior Hunter Stake U/S JUNIOR HUNTER DIVISION Rated B USEF - Rated B NEHC, MHC, SEHA Fences 3 6. 12 USEF ENTRY AGREEMENT By entering a Federation-licensed Competition and signing this entry blank as the Owner, Lessee, Trainer, Manager, Agent, Coach, Driver, Rider, Handler, Vaulter or Longeur and on behalf of myself and my principles, representative, employees and agents, I agree that I am subject to the Bylaws and Rules of the United States Equestrian Federation, Inc. (the Federation ) and the local rules of the competition. I agree to be bound by the Bylaws and Rules of the Federation and of the competition. I will accept as final the decision of the Hearing Committee on any question arising under the Rules, and agree to release and hold harmless the competition, the Federation, their officials, director and employees for any action taken under the Rules.
