3 Gaelic Glen Silver Show Rules and Regulations 1. The Gaelic Glen competition is sanctioned as a Silver/Bronze competition member of Equine Canada, 308 Legget Dr., Suite 100, Ottawa K2K 1Y6 (613) , and is governed by the rules of EC. (A602.1 Any horse entered in any class at a competition may be selected for equine medication control testing while at the event location. (A602.5) Per Article A801, every entry at an EC-sanctioned competition shall constitute an agreement by the person responsible that the owner, lessee, trainer, manager, agent, coach, driver or rider and horse shall be subject to the EC Constitution and all rules of EC and any additional rules set by the competition. It is the responsibility of all individuals participating in any capacity in ECsanctioned competitions to be knowledgeable regarding the EC Constitution and the applicable rules of EC and the additional rules, if any, imposed by the competition. Do not participate in this EC-sanctioned competition in any capacity if you do not consent to be bound by the constitution and rules of EC and any additional rules imposed by the competition. (A602.7) 2. All Canadian entries are required to hold both an EC Passport and a valid EC horse license to compete, or if owned by a temporary sport license holder, a Temporary Horse Registration Form must be purchased at each competition entered. Foreign entries must sign an affidavit. (A602.4) Passports are required for all core divisions, including equitation classes, except Hack Division Equine Canada Silver Competitive Sport License, OEF and THJA membership cards are required for all riders (including those under 10 years of age) and owners. If you or the owner of the horse/pony do not have an EC Sport License you will be required to purchase a temporary Silver membership at the show. Your points will not count for this show with a temporary EC Sport License. Adult Amateur riders must have Amateur Status on their Equine Canada membership card. These will be checked. 3. Hors Concours: Not permitted. Rider Falls: Remounting not allowed. 4. Show Committee: Suzanne Tighe, Victoria Angus 5. Program Changes: Every class offered herein is covered by the Rules and Specifications of the current rules of EC and will be held and judged in accordance with the EC Rule Book (A602.2). Gaelic Glen Stables reserves the right to make changes to classes, change the order of classes, to cancel, reschedule, or combine any division they may deem advisable. Competitors on the EC Not In Good Standing List or the EC Medical Suspension list (Article 101 Section A, General Regulations)will be refused entries to the show. 6. Helmets: Anyone mounted on a horse on the competition grounds, including foreign competitors, must wear approved helmets, with safety harness correctly fastened, at all times. 7. Abuse Abuse of the horse is strictly forbidden. Excessive use of the whip a horse should never be hit more than three times for any one incident. EC rule. 8. NSF cheques will be assessed a $50 surcharge. Cancelled entries and any refunds will be assessed a $30 plus administration fee. No shows $50 plus admin. If you withdraw your horse from competition once the show has commenced there will be no refund of entry fees. 9. Entries: Post entries add $30, no exceptions. All entries received by the secretary following the closing date will be deemed a post entry. If you substitute one horse for another there will be no additional cost. 10. All prize monies will be applied to your entry fees prior to checkout. 11. All competition numbers must be worn and be visible at all times during the competition. 12. Entries - All trainers/coaches must carry the memberships and sports license equivalent to the level of competition where they are training/coaching. 13. A horse/pony is limited to one round per class including equitation and medal classes. 14. Rider Falls: Remounting not allowed. 15. Draw Reins not permissible in Hunter and Jumper Classes. (A602.5) 16. Food and Refreshments - available on the grounds.

4 17. Dogs: Please refrain from bringing dogs. If a must, please keep on leash. There will be a fine for loose dogs. N.B. This show has Paramedic Services on the grounds throughout the two days. In the event medical help is required, contact the nearest radio equipped show staff person. EC Accidents & Return to Play Rule Equestrian Canada s concussion related Accidents & Return-to-Play Rule cane into effect Jan. 1/2018 for all EC sanctioned competitions in Canada. The full rule can be found in the EC Rules, Section A, General Regulations, Article 101. Key components of the rule include the following: In the event of a fall/accident where a concussion can be reasonably suspected, the competitors must receive medical clearance by qualified medical personnel onsite before continuing to compete. The competitor is solely responsible for ensuring the onsite medical assessment takes place. Should a competitor refuse to be evaluated, they will be disqualified from the competition. If onsite qualified medical personnel suspect a concussion or believe the competitor may be at risk of concussion due to the nature of the fall or impact, the competitor will be suspended from competition and placed on a Medical Suspension List until medically released. Competitors will remain on the EC Medical Suspension List until they submit an EC Return-to-Play Form, signed by a licensed physician, to EC. No competitor shall compete at EC sanctioned competitions while on the EC Medical Suspension List and competition organizers may refuse entry to anyone currently on the list. Classes Available BRONZE SHOW BRONZE SHORT STIRRUP Maximum jump height of 18. Open to riders under 12 years as of Jan. 1, 2017 on horses or ponies. Riders may only cross enter into the Open 2 0, Pre-novice/Novice at 2 0 or the Intro Hunter division, as long as they meet division qualifications. The walk/trot class will be judged as an equitation class and the other three classes in this division will be judged as a hunter division. (Walk/trot class points not to be included in division championship calculation nor towards overall short stirrup year-end awards; however, walk/trot will have its own annual award). Horses/ponies permitted to trot their lead changes. INTRO HUNTER - Same specifications as Short Stirrups, no age limit. Open to beginner riders only in their first or second year of showing. May cross enter into Open 2 0, Pre-novice/Novice at 2 0, or Short Stirrups as long as they qualify. The walk/trot class will be judged as an equitation class and the other three classes in this division will be judged as a hunter division. (Walk/trot class points not to be included in division championship calculation nor towards overall short stirrup yearend awards; however, walk/trot will have its own annual award). Horses/ponies permitted to trot their lead changes. PRE NOVICE RIDER Max height 2'0" is intended for riders in their first year of showing (with the exception of the short stirrup, intro or beginner divisions). To be judged as a hunter division. *Riders may reapply for eligibility at the discretion of the executive committee. Riders may cross enter into Short Stirrup, Intro Hunter, or Open 2'0" as long as they qualify. If not competing in Short Stirrup or Intro Hunter these riders may cross enter into Novice Rider or Child/Adult 2'3". They are also eligible for Pre Novice/Novice Equitation. NOVICE RIDER Max height 2 3. Open to riders who have not won three first place ribbons over fences in a recognized, Trillium or OVPSC show, excluding ribbons won in Short Stirrups, Pre Novice and/or Intro. To be judged as a hunter division. *Riders returning to the show ring after a prolonged absence may reapply for status at the discretion of the executive committee. Riders may cross enter into any division for which they qualify except Short Stirrup and Intro Hunter. BRONZE EQUITATION ON THE FLAT and OVER FENCES- Max height 2'0" Open to riders entered in Novice, Pre- Novice or School Horse divisions and eligible riders in the Open Hunter 2'0" or Bronze Hunter jumping 2'3".. GREEN HUNTER Max 2 3. Open to horses and ponies in their first or second year of showing. Distances will not be adjusted.

5 TRAINING HUNTER - 2'3"/2 6 Open to all riders, horses and ponies. Distances will not be adjusted for ponies. Competitors may choose to jump 2'3" or 2'6" but must jump all three classes of the division at that height, however they may change heights from show to show. Two OF classes will run in Ring 1 before the Silver Open Hunter and the 3rd OF, plus u/s saddle will run in Ring 2 before the Child/Adult Hunter. BRONZE HUNTER 2'3"/2'6"Open to junior and amateur riders. Ponies allowed. Competitors may choose to jump 2'3" or 2'6" but must jump all three classes of the division at that height, however they may change heights from show to show. Competitors may cross-enter into other divisions for which they are eligible. BRONZE JUMPER Consists of 3 classes. Two Table A 0.75m class with a jump off, and a second Table A 0.85m class with a jump off. A Bronze Jumper award at year end will be presented. BRONZE JUMPER EQUITATION Jump height 0.85m. This class will follow the Bronze Jumper classes where offered. Not open to professional riders. A year end award will be presented. May call back the top 5 for a flat phase, time permitting. SHORT STIRRUP: Fences not to exceed 21 SILVER SHOW Open to C riders. Fences will not exceed 21 inches and the course will be comprised of a maximum of eight fences. Course to consist of verticals only, no oxers. Short stirrup riders may not enter any other classes except for C Equitation on the flat and My First Medal. Open to both horses and ponies, but lines (distances) will not be adjusted. SMALL PONY HUNTER DIVISION: Fences 2 3 Open to ponies not exceeding 12.2hh. Small pony riders must be 14 years of age and under as of January 1 st of the competition year. MEDIUM PONY HUNTER DIVISION: Fences 2 6 Open to ponies exceeding 12.2hh, but not exceeding 13.2hh. Medium pony riders must be 14 years of age and under as of January 1 st of the competition year. LARGE PONY HUNTER DIVISION: Fences 2 9 Open to ponies exceeding 13.2hh, but not exceeding 14.2hh. Large pony riders must be under 18 years of age as of January 1 st of the competition year. 1.0M JUMPER DIVISION Open to all horses, and to ponies who are ridden by Juniors. Adults are not permitted to ride ponies in this division. Maximum height of fences 1 meter. DEVELOPMENT LO/HI HUNTER DIVISION 2 6/2 9 This division is open to all horses. No ponies permitted. Horse and rider combinations may only cross enter to the 2 6 Children s or 2 6 Amateur Hunter Divisions, the Hack Division and their age appropriate equitation on the flat. Competitors may move both up and down in heights between shows, but competitors may not change heights once the division has started. Effective 2017, riders in the Modified Children s/adult Hunter 2 9 may compete in this division. 2 6 CHILDREN S/ADULT AMATEUR HUNTER No ponies are permitted. Open to Junior and Adult Amateur riders riding horses. Riders are not eligible to compete in any division with a height over 2 6, except for the Development Hunter Division. Horse and rider combinations are permitted to also show in the Hack Division and age appropriate equitation on the flat. Will be separated at the Championship show. **PLEASE NOTE: If our 2 6 Children s/amateur Hunter is combined remember a junior may not show a horse to collect points for an adult to compete at the Championship show. If entries warrant, the division will be spilt. MODIFIED CHILD/ADULT HUNTER DIVISION: Fences 2 9 A horse/rider combination may not enter any other class or division at the show except for the hack division and their age appropriate equitation on the flat class. The rider may enter in any other division or class at that show on another horse or pony. The horse may be shown in another class/division with another rider. Riders that are not Juniors in this division must hold a current Amateur card.

6 CHILDREN S HUNTER: Fences 3 0 Open to horses ridden by a junior. As per Equine Canada Rules Article G307. LOW HUNTER: Fences 3 Open to all horses. ADULT AMATEUR HUNTER: Fences 3 All adults competing in amateur classes at EC-sanctioned competitions must possess a current EC amateur card, which is purchased annually at the price listed in the EC Schedule of Fees. Adult Amateur riders may enter the Low Option of the Trillium Hunter Division and compete at 3 3. TRILLIUM HUNTER LOW/HIGH: Fences 3 3 and 3 6 The low option of this division is open to all riders. The high option of this division is not open to Children s or Adult Amateur Division riders. HACK DIVISION Horses showing in the hack division may be of any breed or combination of breeds. Ponies are not permitted in this division. The division shall consist of Road, Show and Pleasure Hack. Additional requirement for the Road Hack class will be the demonstration of a strong trot. Additional requirements for the Show Hack class will be collected and extended gaits. Both Road and Show hack classes may be required to Hand Gallop (never more than 8 horses at one time). Pleasure hack will never be required to Hand Gallop. Martingales, breastplates, boots of any kind and/or bandages are not permitted. Drop and flash nose bands are prohibited. Brow bands shall be leather of any description but not solid white, colored or sequined. Whips are not permitted in any hack class. In the event of a tie for Champion or Reserve Champion, horses shall be shown in hand and judged on conformation. MODIFIED PONY HUNTER Open to all ponies. Ponies will jump 3 below their regular pony hunter division height and distances will be adjusted according to pony size as per EC Rules G306.6.A. Age restrictions as per EC Rules G Pony/rider combinations may not cross enter into any other classes or divisions requiring them to jump. Small Not to exceed 2 Medium Not to exceed 2 3 Large Not to exceed 2 6 My First Trillium Medal Class - Short Stirrup: Fences 21 Trillium Medal Class - Modified Children's Hunter: Fences 2'9" Trillium Medal Class - Modified Adult Amateur Hunter: Fences 2'9" Trillium Medal Class - Children's Hunter: Fences 3' Junior A a rider who is 15, 16, 17 on January 1 st. Junior B a rider who is 12, 13, 14 on January 1 st. Junior C a rider who is under 12 on January 1 st. Junior A Riders may not ride B or C ponies. Junior B Riders may ride A, B, or C ponies. Junior C Riders may ride A, B, or C ponies. For show purposes, ponies are to be divided as follows: A ponies over 13.2 hands, but not to exceed 14.2 hands B ponies over 12.2 hands, but not to exceed 13.2 hands C ponies do not exceed 12.2 hands Trillium A Equitation Over Fences Open to Large Pony Division riders with fences at 2 9 ; Children s Division riders with fences at 3 ; and Trillium Low/High division riders with fences at 3 3. Adult Equitation Adult Equitation Riders must be Amateurs.

7 A horse or pony ridden in an Equitation Class Over Fences, or in the Jumper Medal Class may only be ridden in that class by one rider. In the event that a rider competes in two different divisions requiring them to jump different heights, it will be their choice which height they will jump for the equitation over fences class 0.90M TRAINING JUMPER DIVISON Open to all horses and ponies. Maximum height of fences.90m. 1.0M JUMPER DIVISION- Open to all horses, and to ponies who are ridden by juniors. Adults are not permitted to ride ponies in this division. Maximum height of fences 1.0m. 1.10M. TRILLIUM JUMPER DIVISION Open to all. Standing Martingales, German martingales and draw reins are not allowed for any competitor in this division. Junior/Amateurs may cross enter into this division. TRILLIUM JUMPER MEDAL CLASS: Fences not to exceed Originally created on the image of the CET Medal, the Trillium Jumper Medal has evolved into a specialty class unique to the Trillium Circuit. These specifications supersede those of the Equine Canada CET medal. The class will have both a jumping phase and a flat phase. This class is open to Junior and Amateur riders only. It is judged as an equitation class with both a jumping and flat phase. Jumping phase to be ridden first. EQUINE CANADA STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLE Equine Canada (EC), the national equestrian federation of Canada, supports adherence to the humane treatment of horses in all activities under its jurisdiction. EC is committed to: Upholding the welfare of all horses, regardless of value, as a primary consideration in all activities. Requiring that horses be treated with kindness, respect and the compassion, and that they never be subjected to mistreatment. Ensuring that owners, trainers and exhibitors or their agents, use responsible care in the handling, treatment and transportation of their own horses as well as horses placed in their care for any purpose. Providing for the continuous well-being of horses by encouraging routine inspection and consultation with health care professionals and competition officials to achieve the highest possible standards of nutrition, health, comfort, and safety as a matter of standard operating procedure. Continuing to support scientific studies on equine health and welfare. Requiring owners, trainers and exhibitors to know and follow their sanctioning organization s rules, and to work within industry regulations in all equestrian competition. Reviewing, revising and developing competition rules and regulations that protect the welfare of the horses The standard by which conduct or treatment will be measured is that which a reasonable person, informed and experienced in generally accepted equine training and exhibition procedures, would determine to be neither cruel, abusive nor inhumane.
