Dear Exhibitors, The Pennsylvania Saddlebred Horse Association appreciates your participation in this family friendly horse show held at our new location, the Horse Park of New Jersey! To show how much we appreciate our exhibitors, trainers, grooms, volunteers & show staff join us for these free hospitality events: Coffee, tea, and breakfast items on Saturday and Sunday mornings in the hospitality area courtesy of PSHA. 5 RULES & REGULATIONS This show will be guided by USEF Rules where applicable. Management reserves the right to make any changes as deemed necessary. CAMPERS: Camper Hook-ups with water and electric and a central dumping station are available at $40.00 per day. COGGINS/HEALTH CERT: A copy of a current negative Coggins test must accompany entries. No numbers will be assigned without a negative Coggins. All horses from out of state must have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) within 30 days of show date. CONDUCT: Show management reserves the right to bar any animal, exhibitor, owner, or spectator for conduct not in the best interest of the show. Exhibitors are notified that any act of discourtesy or disobedience to the officials by the owner, rider, trainer or groom will disqualify horse or rider and the owner shall forfeit all fees and payments. Horses that exhibit uncontrolled behavior will be asked to leave the ring or grounds. ENTRIES: Entries close 4/23/18. Payment is due when entries close. Post Entries will be accepted but will be charged an additional $10 per entry. If payment is not provided with entries, you WILL be charged a post entry fee. Office Fee $5.00 per horse. NO REFUNDS will be granted without a veterinary certificate. Entry blanks must be signed by owner, agent (trainer), exhibitor(s) over 18 years and/or parent(s) of exhibitors under 18 years. Returned checks will be assessed $ Exhibitors will have 10 days to replace the bad check and pay the returned check fee. Checks not made good will be reported to PSHA and points will not be accumulated. Management reserves the right to decline any entry and to cancel, combine or delay any classes as needed. CHAMPIONSHIP CLASSES: Entries in the Championship Classes must have been shown and judged in their respective qualifying classes. Entries will not be stripped. DIRECTIONS: GPS address is 626 Route 524 Allentown, NJ From NJ Turnpike (I-95): Take exit 7A to 195 East. After 5.5 miles take Exit 11 (Cox s Corner/Imlaystown.) As you exit, keep left. Go to the stop sign and make a right onto Route 524. Go 1.4 miles, Horse Park on the left. From Garden State Pkwy: Take exit 98 to Route 195 and go west to exit 11. As you exit, keep to the right. Go to stop sign and make right onto Route 524. Go 1.4 miles to entrance of the Horse Park on the left. MISCELLANEOUS: Dogs must remain on leashes. Positively NO SMOKING inside any of the barns. Absolutely no lunging of horses in the main ring at any time. MOTORIZED VEHICLES: No unlicensed person may operate a motorized vehicle anywhere on the grounds. SECRETARY S STAND: Open Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 2pm to 8pm and one hour prior to each session on show days. Telephone (after 5/3/2018) STABLING: Indoor stalls are available at $90.00 each. No arrivals before 11am Thursday 5/3. Early arrivals must be cleared with show office two days prior to arrival. There will be a $40 charge per day per horse for early arrivals- NO EXCEPTIONS. Grounds must be vacated within 3 hours of conclusion of the show Sunday 5/6. SHAVINGS/FEED: There will not be hay available for purchase. Shavings can be purchased for $8.50 per bale. 10 ACADEMY DIVISION All Academy classes are to be judged on the ability of the RIDER to control and show their horse to the best advantage. Riders must never have shown before except in leadline, tournament or academy classes. Horses are NOT judged. Horses in the Academy classes must be lesson horses used regularly in a lesson program. These horses must display the characteristics of such. Safety is paramount. Open to all breeds of horses. Horses may be shown in a full bridle, Pelham bridle or snaffle bridle with a martingale. Western riders may use any conventional tack. Academy Equitation classes are judged on BASIC equitation skills with correct diagonals and leads. Riders should convey impression of effective and easy control. Academy Showmanship classes should be judged on the rider s showmanship and ring generalship abilities. The horse is not judged. It should be judged on the rider s ability to control and show their horse. Promptness in finding correct diagonals and leads are important as well as the rider s command of the horse (speed, placement in ring and collectiveness). Academy riders are NOT allowed to dress in full riding suits. No jackets or derbies/hats allowed, but helmets are required. Academy classes are not limited to a specific riding seat. Saddle seat riders should wear a fitted shirt, vest, tie, gloves and jodhpur style pants. Hunt seat riders should wear fitted shirt, gloves and hunt style riding pants. Western seat riders should wear western style shirt, gloves and either riding pants or chaps. Proper riding boots & helmets are required for all Academy riders. Riders competing in First Year must not have shown in anything other than leadline prior to the past twelve months. Riders showing in Leadline may compete in Leadline classes only. They may not cross-enter in classes such as Academy or Walk/Trot. Classes should have no more than 12 entries. Walk Trot 10 & under must have no more than 10 entries in each class. Riders showing in Academy Equitation Pattern classes will enter ring individually to perform pattern. 11 ACADEMY PATTERNS ACADEMY WALK/TROT: 1) Trot down the rail to your right, beginning on the right diagonal. Show two changes of diagonals. 2) Continue trotting to the center of the turn and trot a circle. 3) Continue trotting down the next straightaway and exit the ring. ACADEMY WALK/TROT/CANTER: 1) Trot down the rail to your right showing two changes of diagonal. Halt. 2) Canter on your left lead around the corner. Halt. 3) Trot on the right diagonal down the straightaway and exit the ring.
