2 NEW DEER AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION ANNUAL SHOW All completed entry forms should be in the hands of the Secretary by WEDNESDAY, 27th JUNE, Tickets bearing your Catalogue numbers, and ADMIT passes will be sent to you before the day of the show It is the responsibility of exhibitors to ensure that all vehicles bearing stock into the showground have been disinfected. There will not be any disinfecting facilities at the showground. All stock must be in the showground by 8.30 a.m. and not to be removed until after 2.30 p.m. No vehicles to be moved until after the Parade. All stock shown at the Exhibitors own risk All stock should be adequately insured. All Cross Cattle will be penned No warble infected cattle allowed All Horses must be in Parade or any prize money will be forfeited Late Horse entries will be taken, however, entrants will not be in catalogue and an additional charge of 10 will be incurred. No Horse entries will be accepted on the day of the Show. No late entries will be taken for sheep, cattle or Fur & Feather. All Trophies to be returned to the Secretary on Show Day or no later than 31st August, 2018 Please read the following Association Rules carefully. HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT New Deer Agricultural Association accepts its responsibility for providing and maintaining, so far as is reasonably practicable, at all times during the setting up and running of the New Deer Show, an environment which is both safe and healthy for all. To this end New Deer Agricultural Association will take all steps within its powers to meet its responsibilities under The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and all other legal requirements for Health and Safety, and actively seeks the full and understanding co-operation of all persons involved in the Show for their commitment to the same. New Deer Agricultural Association will annually review this policy as required by the Health and Safety at Work etc Act NEW DEER AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING will take place on TUESDAY, 6th NOVEMBER, 2018 at 7.30pm in the PUBLIC HALL, NEW DEER ANNUAL REUNION The Presentation of Cups and Trophies to 2018 Winners will take place at New Deer Public Hall on SATURDAY, 10th NOVEMBER

3 ASSOCIATION RULES 1. Membership, Entries from Members Only. A Child under the age of 16 can enter ONE animal ONLY under the Membership of his/her parent or guardian for the entry fee only. (Restricted to one child per household). Late Horse entries will be taken only until Wednesday prior to show, however, entrants will not be in the catalogue and an additional charge of 10 will be incurred. NO OTHER LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED (WHETHER RECEIVED BY LATE MAIL OR TELEPHONE) AFTER THE CATALOGUE DOCUMENTATION AND ENTRIES HAVE BEEN FORWARDED TO THE PRINTERS. Any postal entries so received will be returned to the sender by First- Post. Any cheques returned by our Bank as unpaid will incur an additional charge of 20 to cover administrative costs. 2. Members entering stock MUST INCLUDE THE MEMBERSHIP MONEY WITH THE APPROPRIATE ENTRY FEES. Those wishing to retain their membership but who cannot or will not be at the Show should send their money within 10 days of the Show date to the Secretary. 3. Age of Cattle to be reckoned from Show Date, and to be accounted one year old at the second show following, and so on. One-year-old must not show hard teeth. 4. Cows to be shown must be in Calf or in Milk. Ewes must have had a Lamb between 1st December and date of Show. 5. The Stock must, at date of entry, be bona fide the property of the member in whose name entered. 6. All animals competing in Pure Bred es must be entered or eligible for entry in their respective Herd Books. 7. Competitors are required to see to the placing of their stock before the Judges for the various prizes for which they intend to compete. The Committee will not be responsible if the stock is not so placed at the proper time. No one will be allowed inside the Judging Ring at the time of Judging except the Committee in charge, and those in charge of the animals being shown. 8. A Reserve Animal will be chosen for every Special Prize, so that in the case of Any Prize Animal being found unconforming to the regulations, the next in merit shall take the premier place. 9. All exhibitors entering the Parade with a bull ANY age must adhere to the LEGAL age requirement of exhibitor leading the animal. Leaders must be over 16 and under 65 years of age. All stock must remain on the showground until after the parade. 10. The Annual General Meeting will be held in November where accounts will be examined and officials elected for the next year. 11. Objections must be lodged with the Secretary in writing no later than 1pm on the day of the show. All complaints must include a deposit of 25 which shall be forfeited to the Association if the protest is dismissed. The committee would then meet to consider any protests and have the power to settle all disputes. Their decision will be final against which there will be no appeal. 12. Only Association Prizes will be counted in a Most Successful Competition. 3 for a First, 2 for a Second, 1 for a Third. 13. The Exhibitors, Caterers and Public are at their own risk, the Association undertaking no responsibility for any accident, loss or damage to person or property that may occur at the Show or in transit. 14. Accommodation will be given in the Showyard to merchants for the exhibition or sale of goods approved by the Committee, at a charge to be agreed. 15. No change can be made in these Rules except by regular meeting of Executive Committee. 16. Entry Money for all Stock entered in Catalogue must be paid, regardless of non-appearance at Show. 17. The Association retains the right to split classes if so required. 18. All cattle (including calves) coming to the show must come from a herd that is fully accredited free of BVD or they must all be individually tested free of virus (antigen) whether or not they have been vaccinated, in accordance with CHeCHS rules ( Although the Special Prize List is believed to be in order, those shown in Catalogue will be available for Competition. 2

Horses and Ponies may be entered in more than one class. However, if an Exhibitor has entered more than one class and both are being judged at the same time, exhibitors must decide which class to enter. No judging will be delayed to enable exhibitors to enter both. All ridden class competitors must wear headgear conforming to EN1384 or above (PAS 015 or ASTM). All passports must be taken to the show to be made available for inspection at any time. All horses awarded prizes 1st to 3rd must attend the Grand Parade, failure to do so may forfeit prize money. CLYDESDALES Judging to commence at 9.00a.m. in Main Ring 1. MARE, with Foal at Foot. 6. GELDING, 3 Years Old and Over. 2. FOAL, Either Sex. 7. BEST HORSE IN DECORATED HARNESS. 3. YEARS ON DAY OF THE SHOW Champion Clydesdale - 30 and Asleid Farmers Trophy Reserve Champion Best Ridden - D. & A. Smith Trophy. Best Horse in Cart Harness - MSD Agvet Shield. A Shield (which will be supplied and engraved by The Clydesdale Horse Society) will be awarded to the best yearling or two year old colt or filly, registered or eligible for registration with the Society, not having won a shield before in its lifetime. The exhibitor must be a current member of the Clydesdale Horse Society. Young Handlers : An engraved medal is presented by the The Clydesdale Horse Society to the best young handler aged 12 to 16 on the day of the show who has not already qualified in the period 1st May 2018 to 30th April The capabilities of the handler are to be assessed, not the animal being led. The qualifier will be eligible to compete in the final at The Royal Highland Show in The Young Handler Scheme and The Young Handler Final are generously sponsored by The James Bennett Fund. 9. PURE OR PART BRED UNDER SADDLE. (To commence at approx. 12 noon in main ring.) Bidwells Blair Castle Ridden Clydesdale Series: This class is a qualifier for the Bidwells Blair Castle Ridden Clydesdale Championships to be held at the Blair Castle International Horse Trials & Country Fair on Sunday 26th August The first two in each class to qualify. Qualification may go down to fourth place, if horses placed 1st and 2nd have previously qualified. Registered Clydesdales and those eligible for registration may qualify and enter for the Championship. All exhibitors in Clydesdale Section will be awarded 15 per horse. 5

IRISH DRAUGHT Judging to commence in the Main Ring after the Sport Horse, Thoroughbred & Hunters Championship The following classes are affiliated to the Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) and only horses registered with or overstamped by the IDHS (GB) and in the correct ownership are eligible for entry. All breeding and in hand exhibits must be EITHER already Graded* or eligible for 1 on the Irish Draught Breed Register. The owners of all Pure-bred Irish Draught horses in both In-hand and ridden classes must be full members of the IDHS(GB). This rule does not apply to owners of Irish Draught Sporthorses. Registration numbers to be stated on the entry form and entries will be sent to the IDHS (GB) prior to the Show to confirm eligibility. *A Graded MARE or FILLY is one that has been inspected or overstamped by the IDHS (GB) and passed into one of the following categories: ID 1, ID 2, RID, AID or the Supplementary Grade Up Register. All 1, 2 and 3 year old COLTS must be bitted and shown by an experienced handler of 18 years of age or over. 16. GRADED* IRISH DRAUGHT MARE, 3 years old and over, with own foal at foot, or 4 years old and over, barren or in foal, OR Mare, 4 years old and over, barren, in foal or with own foal at foot, registered on the ID Sport Horse Registers. 17. FOAL, either sex, the produce of a mare entered or eligible for entry in the above class, eligible for 1 on the Irish Draught Breed Register, OR eligible for the ID Sport Horse Registers. 18. IRISH DRAUGHT AND ID SPORT HORSE YOUNGSTOCK, 1, 2 and 3 YEAR OLD, COLT, FILLY OR GELDING, by an RID (GB), ID 1 or ID 2 sire out of a Graded* dam, or FILLY already Graded*, OR 1, 2 and 3 YEAR OLD, COLT, FILLY OR GELDING, registered on the ID Sport Horse Registers. 8 The two highest placed Pure Breds from each age group that have not already qualified in 18 - yearlings, two year olds and three year olds - eligible for 1 on the Irish Draught Breed Register by an RID (GB), ID 1 or ID 2 sire out of a Graded* dam and also two and three year old fillies already Graded* will qualify to go forward to the Final which will be held at the IDHS (GB) Annual Breed Show on 18th and 19th August 2018 at Arena UK, Allington, Grantham, Lincolnshire. NG32 2EF. Each qualifier will receive a card. Qualifiers are required to complete an online form at to inform the IDHS (GB) that they have qualified for the Final. In the Final, there will be three preliminary classes with the two highest placed semi-finalists from each class going forward to the Championship where the Champion will receive 500 and the Reserve Champion IRISH DRAUGHT AND ID SPORT HORSE MATURITY IN HAND, 4 YEARS OLD AND OVER. GRADED* MARE (ID 1, ID 2, RID, AID or on the Supplementary Grade Up Register) or GELDING registered in the main studbook, OR MARE or GELDING registered on the ID Sport Horse Registers, or SID. 10 COLOURED HORSES & PONIES Judging to commence at 8.30am in Show Jumping Field This show is affiliated to The Coloured Horse & Pony Society (UK). Affiliation No Both owner and the rider/exhibitor need not be a member of CHAPS (UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS (UK) to compete. However in order to Qualify both Owner and Rider/Exhibitor need to be a current showing member and present their valid Qualifier card IN THE RING for signing by the judge. Members to apply in writing to CHAPS (UK) for appropriate qualifier card. The CHAPS (UK) Championship Show will be held on 30th August-1st September Shows held on or after the Postal Entry closing date of Championship Show will count as 2019 qualifiers. The following classes are CHAPS (UK) Qualifiers [Show Secretary to insert class numbers]. For full rulings and information on competition/qualification, please refer to the CHAPS (UK) Members Handbook; or visit for rulings. All stallions, 4 years old and over entering these classes must be graded with CHAPS (UK). All stallions must wear Stallion ID Discs in the ring without exception. 33. POTENTIAL RIDE AND DRIVE Horse or Pony, 4 years old or over Stallion, Mare or Gelding not to exceed 14.2 h.h. 46. POTENTIAL RIDE AND DRIVE Horse or Pony, 4 years old or over Stallion, Mare or Gelding 14.2h.h. or over. 47. POTENTIAL RIDE AND DRIVE Horse or Pony, 1 to 3 years old. Any height. 48. FRIESIAN HORSES Only Potential Ride & Drive, Horse or Pony, 1 year old and over. Stallion, Mare or Gelding - If sufficient entries received class may be split according to age. N.B. - Entries in 46 excluded from entering previous two classes. Champion 30 and The Smith Family Trophy. Reserve Champion 15. Rosette for Best Friesian in 46. Best in 46 - Hillside Friesian Trophy. VETERAN HORSES & PONIES Judging will commence after Coloured Section in Show Jumping Field Veteran Horse Society QUALIFIER This is a qualifier for the Veteran Horse Society Supreme Final: SCOTTISH VETERAN HORSE OF THE YEAR 2018 Kindly Sponsored by Allen & Page. Each VHS affiliation in Scotland now holds a PRE-QUAL Supreme Final qualification Open to members and non-members. However, only Members may go forward to the Championship of the day. VHS Membership to be applied for no later than 1 week prior to this show, to avoid disappointment. VHS Scottish Supreme (Pre-Judging) Final qualification. ONLY MEMBERS placed 1st to 2nd in each age category will go to the Veteran Championship of the Day. In all classes - if competitors placed1st or 2nd are not Members qualification will be given to 3rd & 4th providing they are Members. Qualification will not go lower than 4th place. If the Champion or Reserve has qualified then 2nd or 3rd reserve may take qualification. All competitors and grooms must adhere to VHS 2018 Rule Book in all circumstances. Failure to do so may result in immediate disqualification. Champions and Reserve both In-hand and Ridden must have their showing card signed by the judge in the ring as proof of qualification. This will qualify through the pre-judging of the Supreme. Competitors to present their Show Card to the judge for qualification. Should the Championship be combined the top 2 ridden and top 2 in-hand go forward. 10

12 Combined and Specialist es Champion and reserves from both In-hand and Ridden Championships will receive a Scottish Supreme Entry for Pre-judging the day before the Supreme Final. Mountain & Moorland The highest placed Mountain and Moorland in each class will receive entry to the pre-judging of the Mountain & Moorland Supreme Final. Providing they are Members. This maybe carried down to 4th place. To be registered with a Breed Society holding a currently Breed Society passport. Young Rider Championship qualification. A Young Rider qualification will be awarded to the young rider of the Judge s choice, entitling them to enter the Young Rider Championship prior to the Supreme Final. This award is given at the Judge s discretion. Non Members to receive an orange card. One qualification per ridden age category. Members to have their show card signed. CLASS 1F VETERAN IN-HAND, COMBINED AGE CLASS (15 years and over). To be run as one class but judged as separate age categories: Diamond Veteran (25 years and over), Veteran (20 24 years) & Pre-Veteran (15 19 years). Open to horses and ponies of any breed and height. 1st and 2nd from each age category will go forward to the Championship of the day. (or will be offered to 3rd-4th if they are Members) CHAMPIONSHIP - Reserve and Champion to qualify to the Pre-Qual Supreme CLASS 2F VETERAN RIDDEN, COMBINED AGE CLASS (15 years and over). To be run as one class but judged as separate age categories: Diamond Veteran (25 years and over), Veteran (20 24 years) & Pre-Veteran (15 19 years). Open to horses and ponies of any breed and height. 1st and 2nd from each age category will go forward to the Championship CHAMPIONSHIP - Reserve and Champion to qualify to the Pre-Qual Supreme CLASS 7M MOUNTAIN & MOORLAND IN-HAND (15 years and over). Open to large and small breeds.
