1 STAWELL AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY ANNUAL SHOW SATURDAY OCTOBER 28th 2017 HORSE SHOW This Society is affiliated with E.V. and the Show will be conducted strictly under the current E.A rules. A limited number of overnight stables are available for $20.00 each. Boxes must be reserved and paid for at the time of lodging entries. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified if stalls are already allocated. To book boxes telephone Booking will be confirmed on receipt of entries and payment. Competitors using the boxes for overnight accommodation must vacate same and leave them in a clean condition ($10.00 refund on inspection) by 7.30am on the morning of the Show. No un-restrained Dogs. IMPORTANT NOTICES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY FOR ALL HORSE EXHIBITORS All horse, owner and rider/handler details need to be filled in on the entry form. One form per horse/rider combination. A waiver needs to be signed by all participants before competing. All Riders must wear protective head gear to the current Australian, European or American Standard. The retaining harness must be secured and fastened at all times. Riders without approved headgear shall be ineligible to compete until rectified. This rule applies to all events, not just under age competition. Colts and Stallions will only be permitted to compete in show jumping and the horsemanship challenge. They must be bitted and handlers to be over 18 years of age. LUNGING - Lunging of horses may take place in Rings 1, 2, 3 prior to 9.00 am when all lunging must cease. WARMING UP - An area is allocated for riding/leading your horses on the south/west side of the arena. Horses must be WALKED whilst moving between Rings. Competitors must pay Show Gate Admission Fee in addition to Entry Fees. For further explanation of course please go to Facebook STAWELL SHOW All competitors enter at their own risk with no responsibility accepted by the organizing committee for riders, livestock or property. Personal insurance for riders and handlers recommended Random Swabbing and horse registration checks may take place at any time. A $3.00 swabbing fee per horse is to be paid by all entrants. Fees to be held by WASA in a special fund for the continuation of Random Annual Swabbing at all Wimmera Shows. Medication Control of horses may take place with the Equestrian Australia Equine Antidoping and Controlled Medication Regulations (1st edition effective 5th April 2010 and updates) and the Equestrian Australia Medication Control System and Swabbing policy (1st January 2015). 2 Ponies, Galloways and Hacks Entry Fees: All events $5 on day of show Early entry fee of $3 per event (entries in 1 week before show) A $3 swabbing fee applies per horse. A $25 membership allows Gate Entry for two adults and any children under 16. (Gate price Adults $10, Und.16 $5, Pens. $5) All Champions and Reserve Champions will be eligible for Royal Shows, V.A.S.A. Saddle Horse Championship, Show Horse Council of Victoria and Barastoc Horse of the Year Show. Champion and Reserve Sashes will be presented by the Ring Steward at the conclusion of each event. All exhibits to be measured prior to competing and measurement cards must be presented on request R.A.S.V. Cards accepted. NOVICE: Competitors - are those which have not won a first prize at any agricultural show. Winners of Championships in Ring 1 may not compete in Ring 2 in similar events from which they went on to become Champion. Winners of Championships in Ring 2 may not compete in Ring 1 in similar events from which they went on to become Champion. Horses may not compete in both Hack and Hunter classes. Show Hunters have more substance than the modern hack but still maintain quality. They are expected to move freely at all paces, and may be asked by the Judge to gallop. Their turnout is more subdued than for the usual show class, with no coloured browbands, flowers or bright colours on riders. STAWELL REGIONAL HEALTH is sponsoring 2 awards to encourage young riders. Competition includes 2 sections for all classes. Working Pattern Obstacle and Horsemanship Test Ribbons will be awarded to 4th place in both sections and overall. Cash prizes depending on sponsorship and entries. Conditions of Entry Please read general conditions of entry above. The Challenge is open to all horses, all breeds. The Committee reserves the right to alter the program without notice. All competitors are to participate with the spirit of goodwill and the Judge s decision will be final. Discussion of scores or individual s performance is at the judge s discretion. 2

3 To be eligible for the Champion, all sections are to be competed as a combination e.g. 1 horse and 1 rider and an attempt must be made in all sections of the program as set by the committee. Any abuse, including inappropriate language, towards animals or people will result in disqualification and offender will be asked to leave the grounds. No alcohol to be consumed whilst competing or prior to completion of the day s events. Riding under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be tolerated. Any horse showing indications of being unsound will be excused from competition. The handler of any horse considered to be acting in a dangerous manner will be warned by the committee in the first instance and then disqualified if it continues to act in a dangerous manner. Competitors may enter more than one horse, but must enter all horses at the same level of competition. If entries are exceedingly high, a restriction may apply, each additional horse will be charged full entry fee. Second competitor on same horse incurs 5 points penalty. An Open rider is any age and has won a Ladies, Intermediate or Novice Challenge previously. A Novice rider is any age and has not won a Novice or Junior Challenge previously. Riders competing in the Junior section must be 15 years or younger at the start of the competition and may not have won two Junior Challenges previously. Expected dress code for entire program: collared shirt with sleeves, moleskins, jeans or jodhpurs will be accepted. No head checks, tie downs, martingales, running reins, nose bands, bosals, halters or riding whips will be allowed. Snaffle bits only to be used no curb chains. The same saddlery must be used for all sections of the event, leg protection for horses and spurs at rider discretion. CAMPING - Please BYO Horse Yards etc. for camping overnight at the Stawell Show. GOOD HANDS CHALLENGE TROPHY QUALIFYING The VAS Good Hands Challenge Trophy is conducted at the VAS Saddle Horse Championships The VAS Good Hands Challenge Trophy is open to boys and girls aged 10 years and under 15 years on the day of the local show. The competitors shall be judged solely on their riding ability - mount, saddlery or costume will not be taken into account. Special attention will be paid to hands and seat, general management and control of the horse or pony. Competitors must ride using an ordinary snaffle, single jointed in the centre. The mouthpiece must be smooth and made of the same type of metal, with or without a cavesson on the noseband. 9 STAWELL PETSTOCK SHOW JUMPING Starting Time: 9.30am Entry tickets available in Horse Arena from 9.00 am **NB Run under FEI rules (Unofficial). All entrants are required to wear a medical armband while jumping. Each rider will be responsible for their own gear check. It is an expectation each combination will jump appropriate heights according to ability or graded level. Classes may be eliminated on the day at the judge s discretion. Competition 1.
