2 2015 World FF Isabelle is shown loaded, and leaving Frankfurt, Germany, for her flight to Canada and the 2015 WCS Clydesdale Show: Officially An International Event Far Forest Isabelle has arrived in Canada from Germany, and will spend a little quiet time recovering from the long flight in quarantine before attending the show. I t has long been a dream of the 2015 World Clydesdale Show Committee to reach beyond the Canadian and American Clydesdale registries with an entry that would make the show a truly international event. And now, thanks to Dr. Benjamin Arnold and Family, of Far Forest Clydesdales in Fernwald, Germany, the dream has been realized. Far Forest Isabelle recently arrived in Canada, after a long flight from Frankfurt, Germany, and is entered in the Sr. Yearling Filly Class at the 2015 World Clydesdale Show. Many North American Clydesdale breeders and enthusiasts will have had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Ben Arnold at shows and sales in the United States and Canada. The family purchased Isabelle s dam, 2S Barnaby s Illustrious Belle, (Bogton Barnaby x 2S Grandeur s Lady Katherine), during a visit to Pat and Charles McMahen s, in Schulenburg, Texas, in On that same trip Dr. Arnold purchased Isabelle s sire, Cedarlane Thunder (SBH Phoenix x Maplewood Beauty) from Gerald, Richard and Ronald Wismer, Amherstburg, Ontario, at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto. 3 Germany Born and Raised, UK Passport, American Dam, Canadian Sire: Far Forest Isabelle Set To Make Her International Debut in London Continued from Page 2 LOADING IN GERMANY: Ben Arnold and his father lead their yearling filly Far Forest Isabelle on to the trailer for the 45 minute ride to the Lufthansa hanger in Frankfurt, Germany. The yearling has since arrived in Canada and is the lone 2015 World Clydesdale Show entry from a non-canadian or American exhibitor. The mare and stallion arrived in Germany in 2010, and were the first Clydesdale additions to the, until then, primarily Shire breeding operation. Isabelle is Belle s second foal, and the favourite of the 2014 season. According to Dr. Arnold, showing at the 2015 World Clydesdale Show has been something he has been considering since he attended the 2011 show in Madison, Wisconsin. After some second thought about buying a horse (in North America) to exhibit at the 2015 World Clydesdale Show, he said, I felt that it would be much more fun to show our own breeding, and have a Far Forest horse at the Show. Dr. Arnold has recently moved permanently to Glendale, California, where he and his new husband Matthew have launched two new businesses, the iphone app CineScout that helps film makers and photographers find locations for shoots, and Heirloomology, a company that preserves analog photos, videos, and slides, etc., in digital form. Dr. Arnold plans to continue breeding Clydesdales here in North America, and called the 2015 World Clydesdale Show the perfect opportunity for Far Forest to make their North American debut. Dr. Arnold and his father have reduced the herd size in Germany since his departure for California, but with two Clydesdale mares and a Shire in Germany, he would like to keep back the foals from this year and perhaps consider bringing them over to join Isabelle at some point. Far Forest Isabelle arrived safely in Toronto, Ontario, on August 21 st, and has since completed her brief quarantine with flying colours. She is being stabled at Gregglea Clydesdales until the show. The 2015 World Clydesdale Show Committee is thrilled with the entry of Far Forest Isabelle, which has made the show a truly international event. 4 Jaw-Dropping Entry Numbers W hen planning an attendance based event over four-years, Who Will Come? is the big unknown, and an ever present concern. So imagine the stunned delight of the 2015 World Clydesdale Show Committee when, after entries closed on July 15 th, they realized that 569 horses would be arriving in a matter of weeks to compete in London. It is the largest number of Clydesdales ever at a Canadian show, and according to some pundits, it could be a North American single breed draft horse record! When you add in all the tack and equipment, another 10 Clydesdales for the Budweiser 8-Horse-Hitch, and a Dalmation, it totals a staggering number of horse and tack stalls in need of accommodation. The 2015 World Clydesdale Show is being held at the Western Fair District (WFD) in London, Ontario. The newly renovated facility has a large barn attached to the show ring that will accommodate several hundred stalls. Conveniently, the venue is also the site of live harness racing, and has a second paddock barn onsite that will also be filled to capacity by the large number of entries. With the record breaking numbers exceeding the available space, the committee has had to rent stalls and tents to accommodate everyone. The tents will be located near the paddock barn, and will have water, electricity and sidewalls if needed. Those stabled in the tents will have the option of early release if requested. The facility will be busy and full, but the 2015 World Clydesdale Show Committee is committed to accommodating everyone, and confident that being part of this incredible, record breaking, once in a lifetime event, will be a tremendous and memorable experience for both exhibitors and spectators alike. 5 Advanced Tickets REQUIRED Ticket Sales to End September 21st... T ickets to the 2015 World Clydesdale Show banquet have been in high demand, with hundreds already sold, but they won t be available much longer. With an advanced count needed for the caterer, tickets for the Thursday, October 1st, 2015, event will be on sale UNTIL MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, You can order you tickets on the website at where you will find a direct link for ticket orders on the main page. From there is as easy as selecting the number of tickets, and paying with your credit card online. Adult tickets are $35.00 each, Kids 5-12 are $15.00 and there is no charge for children under 5 years. Once ordered, your tickets will be available for pickup at the show, or at the door the night of the banquet. 6 FEED AND BEDDING ORDERS: Call Ahead for Delivery T he 2015 World Clydesdale Show Committee has arranged for a London area feed mill to be onsite with hay, straw and shavings for exhibitors. Avon Feedmill Inc., in nearby Springfield, Ontario, will sell and deliver, hay, straw, shavings for bedding, fine sawdust for legs, double cleaned oats, 14% sweet feed, bran and beet pulp. Exhibitors can phone or fax orders directly to the mill, and the their orders will be at the Western Fair District when they arrive on Monday, September 28 th, You can fill out the supplied feed form on Page Seven of this newsletter and pre-order your arrival needs, and state your requirements for delivery during the rest of the week. For more information about the program contact Avon Feedmill Inc., at , or by fax at EXHIBITOR INFORMATION: Watch Your Mailbox W ith just 27 short days to go until the Opening Ceremonies of the 2015 World Clydesdale Show, exhibitors should watch their inbox, or post office box, for information about the show. Show passes, class information, banquet tickets and other important information will be ready for your pick-up at the show office when you arrive in London. In the meantime, watch for information about directions to the Western Fair District, entrance to the grounds and procedures upon arrival. The barns will be available for set up starting at noon on Sunday, September 27 th, however NO HORSES will be allowed in the barn until 6:00 a.m. on Monday September 28 th. For information about layovers consult page 19 of the Entry Book (found online), or contact Steve Gregg at for more information. Exhibitors are asked to take Highbury Avenue from the 401 to the fairgrounds, and a comprehensive map will be distributed to all exhibitors in the coming days. If you have not submitted a copy of your $2 million liability insurance coverage, please do not leave home without it. You will not be able to remain on the grounds or show without proof of liability insurance. Likewise you will be required to produce clean Coggins papers for all horses in attendance, and registration papers for all horses competing in registered classes. Horses must be registered to the exhibitor or else a lease agreement must be in effect and registered with either the Canadian Livestock Registry or the Clydesdale Breeders of the USA.
