3 WELCOME What a year it has been in the cattle business. We are in uncharted waters in both the purebred seed stock and commercial markets. The impressive part is, I believe we have only scratched the surface and the best is yet to come. Thank you to the 2013 attendees and buyers. We appreciated the response from the industry for our first sale. Following last year s successful event, there was an overwhelming response from others to be involved. This year, The Maternal Option Females are sure to please. We have dug into the hearts of these operations to bring you the very best and we want to continue adding depth and breadth to the offering. The sale guest s track record for raising and showing great stock speak for themselves. We are grateful to have the opportunity to work with some of the best people in the industry. In the Open Heifer selection I feel confident there are show heifers that can compete in any breed at a national level. These females are backed by extremely powerful genetics that are sure to become leading donors prospects in many operations. The Bred Female offering is exciting with the market as strong as it is. 6 JG CATTLE CO. Dr. J and I have had the joint mission to build a maternal set of cows consisting of mostly registered Angus and SimAngus. They lay the foundation to generate breds and elite show cattle alike. We envision that base growing drastically over the next few years through our extensive ET program. After last year s sale, we had the opportunity to bring Dustin Bedel, and his new wife Tatia, on to join the team. His expertise on the cow side and handling day-to-day activities as well as contributing to the vision of the ranch has proven to be extremely valuable to the entire operation. From J and myself, we appreciate your hard work and efforts to make everything turn. THE MATERNAL OPTION SALE GUESTS Ochs Cattle Co Dan and Jacquie are great people and have been close friends of ours for a long time. They have a great reputation for their ability to pump out some of the leading club calves that compete from coast to coast. Recently, they have added another side to their operation by putting much focus on building maternal cattle that can raise that next generation of breeding heifer prospects and club calf mommas. All of the Ochs heifers are safe to Brilliance with heifer calves. We re excited to have them offer their very best spring bred heifers. Huston Cattle Co Mike s operation is set on a powerful genetic foundation for building bred heifers. After Mike had decided not to have a sale this year, we discussed incorporating the top cut of his spring breds and he fully committed to being apart of The Maternal Option. The females from Mike are mostly Simmental and Maine influence and they fit the stout, moderate mold while maintaining a maternal look from the profile. These are bred to the most popular AI bulls and are sure to raise both great show heifers and club calves alike.

7 Bushy Park Farm Bushy Park Farms has assembled this set specifically for the Maternal Option Female Sale consisting of an elite set of open show and donor prospects that represent the best genetics in their program along with a jaw dropping set of bred heifers. The founder and owner of Bushy Park Farm, Steve Robinson, grew to love and appreciate the cattle business by working with his grandfather on their family farm in Bokchito, Oklahoma. In , Steve served as the State Vice President of the Oklahoma FFA association. After graduating from college in 1986, Steve left the family farm and moved to Maryland to pursue a business career. He built a successful business utilizing cutting edge technology and using the skills that he learned growing up on the farm like, hard work, honesty and a 'never give up' attitude. He had always heard the saying you can take the boy out of the country, but you can never take the country out of the boy. Well this is certainly true with Steve. His passion for raising cattle and owning a farm remained. That led to his acquisition of the entire DeRouchey herd as the foundation of the Bushy Park program. Since that time, Steve, Cory, and the BPF crew have continued to add elite donors and herd sires from multiple breeds with a goal of producing cattle that will compete in the show ring and pasture alike. Cory Thomsen heads the BPF operation in Mitchell, SD where all of their core and donor females reside. Tommy Duke is our farm manager in Knoxville, Maryland, where they farm approximately 1000 acres of corn, soybean and wheat in addition to 900 acres of pasture and several hundred acres of hay. J Rafter J Rafter J Cattle Company is a family owned and operated ranch located in Abilene, Texas with a satellite herd at the H2 Ranch facility where The Maternal Option Female Sale is held. Larry Johnson, his son Colt Johnson and their family have been in the business of breeding and raising cattle for more than 50 years. They run approximately 60 composite club calf producing cows and 60 registered Herefords as the base of their herd and continually strive to improve their genetics through an AI and embryo program, focusing on quality and performance. Rafter J Cattle includes high powered genetics that they have carefully selected from top breeders nationwide including Star Lake, Barber, Churchill and Kris Black. They are offering genetics with the proven pedigrees and outstanding phenotype needed to improve any herd. Oklahoma Bovine Genetics We are pleased to have Oklahoma Bovine Genetics join The Maternal Option Female Sale. OBG is the product of a breeding program designed by Bill Jackson on his family ranch in Miami, OK. Since dispersing their herd of registered Angus cattle in the mid 1990 s, Bill has assembled one of the country s most elite herds of purebred and composite Charolais. OBG The core of his herd is the Nancy and Elvira cow families and he is sharing those genetics in this sale.
