However, The South West Arab Horse Group Rules & Regulations are applicable. These classes are open to Pure, Anglo and Part Bred Arabians and those entered in Special Classes NR1 and NR2. DR1. AHS The show is affiliated to the AHS & ECAHO. The rules of both organisations apply to Pure Bred In-Hand classes but ECAHO Rules (2017 Blue Book) take precedence where there could be a clash or conflict. Other classes at the show are outside the jurisdiction of ECAHO and are governed by AHS Rules only (2017 Rules available from Exhibits must be registered in the appropriate Stud Book/Register by closing date of entries (foals that are not registered by the time of the show are covered by AHS Rules only). Exhibits must be registered in the ownership of the Exhibitor or a lease must be lodged with the AHS by the closing date of entries. Copy certificates (Not Passport) are required with completed Entry form and appropriate fees. Please ensure both sides of the Reg. Cert.are sent and the name and address is current. Incomplete entries will be returned. 2. ECAHO This show is affiliated to The European Arab Horse Show Commission as a Class C National Show and will be conducted in accordance with the current Rules for Conduct of Shows 2017 Blue Book (ECAHO website The British method of comparative judging will be used. Details of all ECAHO shows are available from the Arab Horse Society. Tel: and the ECAHO website: ECAHO Championships Rules apply. First and Second placed horses in the Pure Bred Breeding classes must present for their appropriate championship. Failure to take part will mean they will be stripped of their placing and prizes, they will also be disqualified for one year. Yellow/Red Card ruling will be applicable. All handlers in ECAHO affiliated classes at this show must be members of the AHS before entering the ring. Random checks will be made by the AHS and any handler found not to have paid their membership fee before the commencement of the class will be disqualified from taking part. Any awards won by an exhibit later found to be handled by a non-member will pass down to the next eligible exhibit and the result will be publicised. There will be no opportunity to retrospectively pay the fee. 3. LONGINES ROYAL INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW (HICKSTEAD 2018 & 2019) Horses placed in the first three in classes 37 & 38 will be eligible to compete at the Longines RIHS Hickstead in 2018 & BRITISH ARABIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS 2017 This is a qualifying show for the British Arabian Championships to be held 9 th 10 th September, 2017 at Kings Equestrian Centre, All details and Qualifying cards from Mrs. Jayne Armstrong, 6 Watkin Avenue, Hadfield, Glossop, Derbyshire, SK13 1QD. ( ). Please send SAE. Cards 15 each (Payable to The Arab Horse Society) please state horse s name, age and section when applying for a card. BACs has classes for both in hand and ridden Purebred and Anglo & Part bred arabians. Competitors must carry their qualifying cards with them into the ring to be signed by the judge. (BAHPAC) 9 th 10 th September, details 5 CHERIF CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL YEAR This is a qualifying show for the Cherif Championships The final will be held at the Cherif Championship Show, Addington Manor Equestrian Centre on 13 th September, All details and qualifying cards at 25 each (payable to Cherif Championship) from Miss L. Temple, Roedean House, 8, Runnymede Gardens, Trowbridge, Wilts, BA14 0FN.. Please state name and accurate height of horse/pony. SAE please and contact phone number. 148cms & Under. To qualify: One Pink card (up to 138cms) and one Blue card ( cms). Ponies of 148cms & under will not be ridden by the judge at qualifying shows, but will be ridden by a lightweight adult at the Cherif Championship final.two entries may qualify. The highest placed entries within the first four in the class, who have not already qualified, will qualify. Over 148cms. To qualify: One White card and one Green card will be ridden by the judge. Two entries may qualify. The highest placed entries within the first four in the class at (a) up to, and including 153cms,(15.1/4) and (b) over 153cms will qualify. No entry placed lower than fourth may qualify, even if only one height section is covered by the top four in the class. All exhibitors are issued with colour coded qualifying cards, which state the height section of the horse/pony. Competitors must carry their qualifying cards with them in the ring to be signed by the judge. Failure to produce the card for signature means non-qualification. NO CARDS ARE TO BE BROUGHT INTO THE RING ONCE THE CLASS HAS STARTED. 6. UK IN-HAND AWARDS OPEN TO PURE, ANGLO AND PART BRED ARABIANS Non-ECAHO Classes Awards at this show will gain points for the UK In-Hand Awards.. Cards must be signed by the judge in the ring. Full details and points cards are available on the Arab Horse Society Website: UK ANGLO & PART BRED IN-HAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. AMATEUR /HOME PRODUCED: A person who shows Arabs who does not:- (a) Handler or Rider not to have been paid for showing or producing any horse for a third party, this includes any remuneration either as employment, casual showing, or any in-kind benefits whatsoever. (b) Horse not to have resided on a professional yard on show or training livery in current year. DIY and minimal assisted livery is excluded. (c) Horse not to have been shown by a professional handler in current year.

5 (d) (e) Horse not to have received regular training from a professional in current year All children aged 14 and under on January 1 st 2017 will be eligible for amateur status regardless of points 8a to d). 9. NOVICE: A Novice horse is one that has not been placed 1 st in three ridden classes at novice or open level at affiliated shows prior to 1 st January of the current season and/or has never qualified for HOYS. Horses that have been ridden in open classes abroad are not eligible to enter pre-novice and novice classes in the UK. 10. PRE-NOVICE. Pre-Novice horses must be 4 yrs old and over and will be judged as a riding horse. The judge WILL NOT ride. A short individual show will be required. 4 yr olds to wear ordinary snaffle bridle and bit (as BD Rules). A pre-novice horse is one that has not been placed first more than two times at an affiliated show. Horses entered in Pre-novice classes may not enter Open classes at the same show. Pre-novice classes are not qualifiers for any championships. Being placed first in a Pre-novice class does not change the Novice status of a horse under Rule 33 of the AHS Rules for Showing. RASS classes are not taken into consideration 11. P30 (POTENTIAL RIDDEN STAR). Class 32. A mixed sex in-hand class for Arab Horse Society members with 1/2/3 year old AHS registered Arabians, with classes being judged on the horses potential as a future ridden horse. This class is open to all members of the AHS. The top two horses will qualify for the class finals to be held at UKIAHS 25 th 27 th August, The finals class will include prize money, rosettes, sashes and many more prizes from our generous sponsors. Eligibility for P30 class. Handlers must be a member of the AHS (Bronze level minimum). Classes will be judged on the horses potential as a future ridden horse. Judged on a comparative system at shows, however will be judged on points at the final. Horses may wear in-hand bridle or a snaffle ridden bridle with plain/velvet browband and a more relaxed stand up pose will be sought. No bagging/rattling is allowed, but applause is welcome and encouraged. Horses should trot a figure of 8 for their individual show to show paces, and a good walk and balanced trot is desired. Three year old colts MUST be bitted. The class is NOT a UKIAHS qualifier. Horses wishing to qualify for UKIAHS classes must qualify through qualifying classes. Each horse wishing to qualify entering the class must have a RASS card which must be signed by the judge in the ring. Cards may not be brought into the ring after the commencement of the class. Cards cost 20 and can be purchased from Ms Louise Maryon, Blaenffos, Bwlchgroes, Llandysul, SA44 5JY. Please make cheques payable to Ridden Arabian Star Series. Please send SAE if paying by cheque. Cards must be purchased a minimum of 7 days before competing in a RASS qualifier. Horses must be registered in the name of the owner with the AHS. Exhibitor and Handler must be members of the AHS. It is the responsibility of exhibitors to check full details and rules available at Qualified exhibitors must return the signed card to RASS committee within 10 days of qualification as indicated on the card if they wish to participate in the Championship Class. 12. ALL STARS, Class 30 & 31. A new series of in-hand qualifying classes for 4 year old and over Purebred Arabian horses, open to all exhibitors. To qualify for the final at UKIAHS 25 th 27 th August, 2017, horses must have purchased a qualifying card from the RASS Committee. Horses not wishing to qualify for the Finals CAN still enter the classes, they just CANNOT qualify for the Finals without a qualifying card. How to qualify : Horses placed 1 st or 2 nd at ANY Royal or County Show in the in-hand Arab classes (four years old and over) can qualify for the finals by having their card signed (Mares/stallion/gelding or mixed purebred classes). Or placing 1 st to 3 rd at a C or Group show in the ALL STARS in-hand male and female classes. Stallions and geldings to be shown together. Classes may be split into sex or age divisions if sufficient horses are entered in any one section. The rules of the classes:- Horses should be shown in a more relaxed manner than is accepted for ECAHO classes and display a softer stand up than the Continental pose. No bagging is allowed in the collecting ring or during the class. However clapping and cheering is appreciated and encouraged. Classes are to be judged on the current Arab breed class format and may be judged by single judge comparative system or points whichever the hosting show is using. Handlers should make every effort to be as smartly attired as possible, with men wearing shirts and ties in classes and ladies avoiding sleeveless, backless and short tops. Please read County and Royal schedules closely as they may state compulsory attire. The Finals at Addington will be judged on points. The champions can be of any of the Top 5 horses brought forward. 13. RASS (RIDDEN ARABIAN STAR SERIES) Class 39 & 40. The two previously unqualified horses from within the first four in each RASS class will qualify to enter the Championship to be held at UKIAHS 25 th 28 th August, Open to Pure Bred Arabs registered in the Arab Horse Society Stud Book. No qualification for the Series will be passed down in the event of a qualified exhibit withdrawing for any reason. Judges WILL NOT ride the exhibits! Instead they will set a show for the exhibits to perform. In the event of a marks tie, highest RIDE mark will decide the winner. If the ride mark is a draw the highest TYPE mark will decide. If all marks are a draw the judges must pull the horses out head to head and decide on the higher placed animal. Each horse entering the class must have a RASS card which must be signed in the ring. Cards may not be brought into the ring after the commencement of the class. Horses must be registered in the name of the owner with the AHS. Exhibitor and Rider must be members of the AHS. It is the responsibility of exhibitors to check full details and rules available at Qualified exhibitors must return the signed card to the RASS committee within 10 days of qualification if they wish to enter the Finals class. The Finals entry form is available on the website to download. 14. MIDLAND ARAB GROUP NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FOR YOUNG RIDERS. This show is a qualifier for Open to Pure, Anglo or Part Bred horses or ponies suitable for and to be ridden by a rider up to 21 years of age on 1 st January in the current year. To be judged as a riding horse/pony. Horses & ponies will not be ridden by the judge: each will give a short individual show and may be stripped. No spurs are allowed in these classes and whips must not exceed 30ins/75cms. The highest two previously unqualified will qualify in each young rider s class. Qualifying cards will be presented in the ring and a rosette will be sent to the successful competitor when the card is filled in and sent to Andrea Boyle, Little Ling, Newnham, Henley-in-Arden, Warks. B95 6DT. Tel: or ablittleling@live.co.uk. NOTE : The horse/pony is being judged NOT the rider. 15. CRABBET. Conditions of entry Class 33 & 34. To qualify for entry into these classes the exhibitor must send in a copy of a Heritage Certificate which shows 75% or above Crabbet breeding and issued by the Crabbet Organisation or a letter from Caroline Sussex (Secretary) confirming that the horses entered have 75%+ Crabbet. If the Certificate states that the horse is under 75% Crabbet breeding or there is no letter the entry should be refused and returned to the exhibitor. (Any queries should be directed to Caroline Sussex by fax or Binleystud@aol.com) Rules for Showing Class 33 & 34. All horses MUST be shown in a natural manner. The pose must be natural, i.e. forefeet together and one hind leg slightly behind the other. The head should be held with the neck showing natural arch and curve of throat line, muzzle would be in line with a point around six-eight inches below the wither. The horse should be trained to stand quietly in this position with expression of interest in the handler. Any unnatural posing, flicking with a whip or circling when being run out, will result in the horse being judged as though no presentation or display has been possible and therefore penalised accordingly. 6 SWAHG RULES & REGULATIONS. 1. The committee does not accept liability for any accident, illness or injury to horses, owners, riders or spectators or any other persons property. It is a requirement that all participants in horse events must carry their own Accident and Public Liability Insurance and are held responsible for the consequences of their own actions and that of their horses whilst engaged at this event.. 2 The committee reserves the right to refuse any entry without giving a reason. 3. The committee reserves the right to further divide or amalgamate classes according to entries 4. In all cases the decision of the judge is final and he/she may withhold any rosette if there is not sufficient merit. 5. Any objections must be made in writing and lodged with the DC within 30 minutes of the incident occurring together with a deposit of 30, which will be refunded if the protest is upheld. THE DECISION OF THE DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE IS FINAL. 6. Classes will not commence before the stated time unless all exhibits are present. Exhibits, which appear late, (missing the first walk round) will be excluded from the class. Exhibitors in Pure Bred Arab Classes must present at least 10 minutes before their class commences to ensure examination of their horse by the DC is carried out. 7. No horse/rider/handler may enter the ring late or leave the ring early without obtaining permission from the Judge via the Ring Steward. 8. Hard hats to the appropriate BSI approved standard MUST BE WORN in all ridden classes and at all times on the show ground.
