The Show is held under the Articles of Association and Regulations of the Newark & Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society, which accordingly binds all exhibitors and others attending the Show. Copies of the Articles of Association and Regulations are held in the Society Office. The attention of exhibitors is drawn to the Show Regulations and Information printed in this Schedule and to the conditions from the respective Breed Societies at the start of each section. The Society reserves the right to postpone or cancel the Show, or any particular section or event, if such cancellation, postponement arises out of strikes, lock-outs, trade disputes or labour problems, or any other cause beyond the control of the Society, including, but without limitation, Act of God, Governmental Act Regulation or request, fire, accident, war, riot or inability to obtain adequate labour, materials or sufficient number of entries. 6 The Nottinghamshire County Show IMPORTANT NOTES for Equine Exhibitors Please observe the following for the smooth running of the Show, your safety and enjoyment of all who visit the Show in any capacity Online Entries: Go to website and select ONLINE Entries Postal Entries: Entry forms for the Show can be downloaded from the website. No entry will be accepted unless made on the appropriate form either ONLINE or by post and accompanied by the correct fees. Entry Fees All entry fees are quoted inclusive of 20% (any change in the VAT rate will be applied from the due date). All payments by credit/debit card will incur an additional fee of 50p. All payments by cheque should be made payable to NNAS, (Newark & Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society) MEMBER Stables PER STABLE, PER NIGHT Entry Fees PER ENTRY for all Light Horse and Pony Classes, except RIHS Classes RIHS Classes (include 9.00 Levy) See under relevant section for Heavy Horse, Private Driving, Show Jumping. Closing Date for entries, 2018 NON-MEMBER Light Horse & Heavy Horse Show Jumping Friday 30 March Monday 30 April Entries received after the closing date for entries cannot be accepted. Protective Headgear Any person riding a horse or pony (whether as a competitor or judge anywhere on the showground must wear a hard hat of a standard approved by their appropriate governing body. Head gear must be worn with the chin strap correctly and securely fastened at all times. No horse is to be ridden or led through the showground except on designated horse walks. Owners / handlers All horses and ponies MUST have a competent person in charge. Dress code All exhibitors, grooms and handlers appearing with animals in the judging rings must be of smart appearance and in proper dress code (not jeans), with appropriate headgear. All riders of horses and ponies must wear a hat to the current BSI Standards with the chin strap correctly fitted and securely fastened. Those failing to abide by this rule will face disqualification. The only exception is in Side Saddle classes where members need to abide by the Side Saddle Association rules. Animals are not allowed to display advertising material whilst in the Judging Ring. 6

7 Armbands Exhibitors in In-hand classes are requested to wear an armband. All exhibitors must provide their own armbands to be eligible to compete in special classes. Conduct Once an exhibitor or handler has entered the judging ring with his exhibit he may not leave the ring with his exhibit before the completion of judging of the class except with the permission of the judge or steward. Any exhibitor or handler contravening this rule will be disqualified from competing. Fall of horse, pony or rider Fall of a horse, pony or rider during any class will result in elimination. The rider must not remount in the ring and must be seen by a medically qualified attendant before remounting. Mobile phones The use of mobile phones is not permitted within the collecting and judging rings. Timetable Classes may commence at, or after the published time. The Society will not be held responsible for any loss where an exhibitor has made entries in more than one class and because of a time over run it is not possible for him/her or the horse/pony to compete in one or more later classes. No claim for refund of fees paid or other loss, direct, indirect of consequential will be accepted or paid. Once a class has commenced trotting it is deemed the class is closed and no further exhibitors may enter the ring. Stabling Free stabling is not provided. Stabling required by exhibitors must be booked and paid for. Stabling can be reserved at a cost of 40 (inc. VAT) per stable per night. Reservations for stables must be made on the entry form in the space provided and payment made at the time of entry. Stables will not be allocated to exhibitors for the storage of harness etc. It is recommended that exhibitors store all their equipment, fodder etc securely in their vehicles. Stables must be cleaned out by the exhibitor prior to departure. Failure to do so will result in 50 fine per stable not cleaned. No refunds will be made on temporary stabling. Straw Two bales of straw will only be provided in the Heavy Horse stables. For all other horse exhibitors straw is not provided but will be available to purchase from the Stable Manager s office at a cost of 4.00 per bale. Stallions Stallions are to be stabled in separate accommodation for Health and Safety reasons. Hire/lease A stallion hired for the season will be considered to be the property of the person to whom it is hired. A horse or pony leased for the season will be considered to be the property of the person to whom it is leased only if the lease has been registered with the appropriate authority. Stud book Every horse entered for competition in the breeding classes shall be entered for, or accepted for entry in the Stud Book of its breed in the United Kingdom. Age It is only necessary to state the year of birth in respect of horses except that of foals where details are listed below. 7

8 Foals The exact date of birth of foals must be stated on the entry form. No foal under the age of THREE WEEKS will be allowed on the Showground. All foals must be the offspring of the dam with which they are exhibited and the name of the sire of the foal must be stated on the entry form. Height Height certificates issued by the Joint Measurement Scheme must be available with the horse/ pony ready for inspection. Failure to pass this height test or to comply with the Joint Measurement Scheme Rule Book will disqualify the horse/pony from competition. Eligibility In all classes animals must be practically sound. No veterinary inspection will be required except where it may be considered necessary by the Judges. The owner of an animal rejected for unsoundness may be given a copy of the Veterinary Inspector s Certificate, and if desired may remove the animal from the Showground. Class attendance It is the exhibitor s responsibility to present their exhibit(s) on time for classes. Exhibitors are strongly advised to be available for their class at the beginning of their class section as the organisers cannot be held responsible for entries forward in the start class and subsequent classes. Breeding classes Mares whose foals have died, or who are prevented from being exhibited owing to accident or illness, CANNOT be exhibited. Health and equine influenza It is strongly recommended that all horses and ponies should be vaccinated against Equine Influenza. The Society s Veterinary Surgeons will inspect the horse lines. Stewards, at the direction of the Society s Veterinary Surgeons, are empowered to require any horse or pony showing clinical signs of equine influenza to be immediately removed from the Showground. In the event of a serious outbreak the Society reserves the right to require vaccination certificates to be produced. Certification of Health Horses sent direct from other EU Member States must be accompanied by Certification of Health in accordance with the appropriate Trade Directive for the species, including additional certification granted to the UK under Community provisions. It is the sole responsibility of the exhibitor to ensure that the animals will be eligible to return to their Member State. Farrier A Farrier will be in attendance each day of the Show. Health and Safety Regulations Horse walks are in operation. All horses and ponies, ridden and in-hand MUST keep within these designated routes, and exhibitors, competitors and grooms must comply with any instructions from Officials, Stewards or signage around the Showground. All exhibitors are expected to comply with Horse Passport legislation and bring the appropriate documentation with them to the Show and to be responsible for the documentation at all times. An exercise area is provided. The riding of horses for exercising in a Judging Ring or other public highways is forbidden. The use of Collecting Rings for exercise is strictly limited to the duration of a competition and must not interfere with other prior users of the Collecting Ring. Failure to comply may result in automatic disqualification. The use of any of the rings or any other prohibited area of the Showground for exercising animals is strictly forbidden and all instructions from Stewards or other Showground representatives must be observed. Failure to comply may result in 8

9 automatic disqualification. Amalgamation of classes The Newark & Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society reserves the right to amalgamate classes if there are less than four catalogued entries in a class. In the event of amalgamation there will only be one set of prize money and rosettes. Vouchers not redeemed on the day may be presented to the Society Office for payment from May Show Jumping classes Rosettes will be presented in the Newark Ring and prize money will be sent out by cheque from the Society Office post Show. Cancellation of classes/entries The Newark & Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society reserves the right to refuse or cancel any entry, class or section it deems fit. In these circumstances, entry fees will be refunded. In all other cases entry fees (exclusive of any levy payments) will only be considered for a refund if a Veterinary Certificate is provided to the Society Office, no later than Monday 14 May, 2018 Regulations, Conditions & Information Exhibitors should read carefully the Conditions at the front of each Section and the Show Regulations at the back of this booklet, thank you. Please Note: by making an entry, the exhibitor is making an agreement to comply with all the Newark & Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society Conditions & Regulations. 9

10 Wrist Band / Pass allocation Exhibitors will be issued with one vehicle pass. Please display passes visibly in windscreen. Below is a list of Wrist Band allocation for Exhibitors, depending on the number of individual horses entered. Per individual horse entered Private Driving Entry 3 Exhibitor Wrist Bands Extra admission tickets Exhibitors in all sections may purchase additional admission tickets for the days of the Show at a reduced Exhibitor-rate price if an application for additional tickets and payment thereof is made at the time of making an entry. 12 RIDDEN HUNTER Lightweight, Middleweight, Heavyweight Ride Judge & Conformation Judge: Miss K Sears, Shropshire Please Note: If there are less than 4 catalogued entries in a class, classes may be amalgamated. In the event of amalgamation there will only be one set of prize money and rosettes. Entry Fees: Members Non-Members Classes 1, 2 & (These figures include an 9.00 RIHS Levy) Conditions: It is strongly recommended that competitors aged 18 or over wear correctly secured skull caps/riding hats that meet one of the following current Safety Standards: All PAS 015; VG1; ASTM F a onwards; SNELL E2001; AS/NZS onwards. It is mandatory for competitors under the age of 18 to wear such skull caps or hats. In the jumping phase of Working Hunter classes the aforementioned skull caps/riding hats must be worn. 1. This Show is affiliated to Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain and Classes in this section will be judged in accordance with 2018 SHB (GB) Rules. 2. All animals must be registered with the SHB (GB) and for RIHS Qualifying Classes, registered on the SHB(GB) 2018 Show Hunter Register. The Registration number must be quoted on the Entry Form and the owner and rider must be a member of the SHB (GB). 3. Horses competing in the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain classes at their Affiliated Shows cannot compete in the Hack and Riding Horse classes at the same show. This does not apply to SHB (GB) Working Hunter and Ridden Sport Horse classes. 4. If the Judge considers that an animal to be in the incorrect weight category he/she will transfer it to a higher weight class or advise the competitor if he/she considers it to be in a lower weight category. If a horse is transferred into a different weight class by the Judges on more than one occasion, the owner must inform the Society immediately and the animal s registration will be amended. 5. Judges may be asked to restrict riding to those entries selected for final consideration, having due regard to the judging time available. Qualifiers: a) Royal International Horse Show (RIHS) Qualifying classes Classes 1,2 and 3 are Qualifying Events for the Royal International Horse Show 2018 and only horses registered on the SHB(GB) 2018 Show Hunter Register are eligible to enter. Registration numbers must be quoted on the entry forms and owners and riders must be members of the SHB(GB) The two highest placed horses in each Class will qualify to enter at RIHS. No horse lower than second will qualify. Day Ticket = 30 (this entitles competitors to compete at a maximum of 1 show in the year it covers owner and rider membership together with horse registration for that show). If the class is a qualifying class for RIHS, in order for the qualification to be valid, application for full owner/ rider membership and horse registration must be received in the SHB(GB) office within 14 days. 12

13 b) This show is a qualifier for the BLUE CHIP & IRISH DRAUGHT HORSE SOCIETY (GB) 2,000 CHALLENGE. The highest placed horse (not already qualified) from each of Classes 1-3 that is registered or eligible for registration on the irish Draught or Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers ie with a minumum of 25% proven Irish Draught breeding will qualify for the Final of the Blue Chip & IDHS (GB) 2,000 Challenge. Horses need not be registered with the irish Draught Horse Society (GB) to qualify but must be on the IDHS (GB) Registers by the time of the Championship which will be held at the IDHS (GB) Annual Breed Show on 18th 19thAugust at Arena UK, Allington, Grantham, Lincolnshire. NG32 2EF N.B: A horse may only qualify for the Final once, regardless of the type or number of classes won, placed in or entered. Each qualifier will receive a card and a 10 voucher from Blue Chip. Qualifiers are required to complete an online form at to inform the IDHS (GB) that they have qualified for the Final. In the Final, the Champion will be awarded 1,000 prize money, a trophy and a Blue Chip rug. The Reserve Champion will be awarded 500 and 3rd to 7th inclusive will be awarded 100 each. In addition, the highest placed Pure Bred Irish Draught will receive a trophy and 100, the highest placed 158cm (15.2hh) and under will receive a trophy and 50 the highest placed Sport Horse will receive a trophy and 50, and the highest placed *Amateur Produced and Ridden Horse will receive a silver salver and a rug. c) The Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) will award Special Incentive Cards to the highest placed Irish Draught Pure Bred or Irish Draught Sport Horse in Classes 1-3. To be eligible, exhibits must be registered with or overstamped by the IDHS (GB) on either their Irish Draught Breed Registers or Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers. Registration numbers to be stated on the entry form. 1 Lightweight Hunter, mare or gelding 4 years old or over, capable of carrying up to 79.5kgs (12stone 7Ibs) The Newark Advertiser Perpetual Challenge Cup 2 Middleweight Hunter, mare or gelding 4 years old or over, capable of carrying 79.5kgs (12stone 7Ibs) and not exceeding 89kgs (14 stone) The T H Sheldon Perpetual Memorial Cup 3 Heavyweight Hunter, mare or gelding 4 years old or over, capable of carrying over 89kgs (14 stone) The Robert Hanson Perpetual Challenge Trophy s4 Champion Champion: The Society s Perpetual Challenge Cup Reserve Champion: The Barbara Elizabeth Allatt Perpetual Rose Bowl To be competed for by the 1st & 2nd prize winners from Classes 1, 2 & 3 Exhibitors must parade for the Championship, or forfeit their prize money RIDDEN HUNTER Ladies Hunter, Novice Hunter, Small Hunter Judge: Miss K Sears, Shropshire Please Note: If there are less than 4 catalogued entries in a class, classes may be amalgamated. SHB(GB) require all exhibits in the Hunter classes to be registered on their Basic Identity Record or Stud Book and in the case of RIHS Qualifying Classes, all owners and riders must be full members of the SHB (GB) and all entries must be registered on the SHB(GB) 2018 Show Hunter Register. The Registration number must be quoted on the Entry Form. 3. Horses competing in the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain classes at their Affiliated Shows cannot compete in the Hack and Riding Horse classes at the same show. This does not apply to SHB (GB) Working Hunter and Ridden Sport Horse classes. The Tom Forman Hardy Challenge Cup s6 Highest Placed Member of Side-Saddle Association from Class 5 Special Rosette from the Side-Saddle Association Exhibitors eligible to present membership card 7 Novice Hunters mare or gelding 4 years old and over. May be shown in a snaffle bridle To be run under SHB(GB) 2018 rules: Not having won a prize of 60 or a total of 200 (or equivalent values) in prize money in any SHB (GB) affiliated Ridden Hunter Classes at home or abroad, before 1st January in the current year, excepting all prize money awarded as a 4 year old. The Arthur Wood Perpetual Challenge Cup The Polly Coles 4 & 5 Year Old Ridden Hunter Championship The top three horses from every SHB(GB) 4 year old ridden hunter class and the top three 4 or 5 year olds in any SHB(GB) Novice Ridden Hunter Class, held at shows prior to the 2018 Hunter Show will qualify. Qualification will not pass down the line. Please Note: Maximum height of fences 1.07m ( 3 6 ) Working Hunters may compete Hors Concours in Restricted Open Working Hunter classes in the jumping phase only at the discretion of the Show Secretary but the horse cannot compete in any other Working Hunter Classes for the duration of that Show. 68 Working Hunter A mare, gelding or stallion (competing stallions must have a red, white and blue ribbon displayed in their tail) four years and over exceeding 148cm (14.2hh approx) to be judged in accordance with the rules herein set out. Grade A Show Jumpers and Advanced Event Horses are not eligible to compete in these classes. Any horse which has qualified as a Grade A Show Jumper or Advanced Event Horse as at 1st January in the current year is not eligible to compete in Working Hunter classes To be judged. The maximum total points available is 100. This is made up of: Jumping points = Max 40 points; Style & presence whilst Jumping = Max 20 points; Ride/ Manners = Max 20 points; Conformation = Max 20 points. Fences to be a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 12 in number and a maximum height of 1.41m (3 9 ) at the discretion of the Judges. Fences should have a natural appearance and not be easily dislodged. No un-numbered obstacle can be included in the course. The manner of going taken into account. No change of rider or tack will be allowed (unless a horse is ridden under side-saddle, in which case, in order to allow the judge to ride, the saddle may be changed for the riding phase only). A rider can ride up to 2 horses in the jumping phase but then must select only one horse to take forward into the ride and conformation section if so required (no change of rider is allowed). A skull cap or hat and safety harness according to the current approved BSI or European Standard must be worn by ALL competitors in the jumping phase of Working Hunter Classes. Skull caps must have a navy blue or black cover. No hind boots or bandages of any description are allowed in the collecting ring, warm up or in the actual class. Horses with minus scores may not be required for the second phase of the class at the discretion of the judge. Under no circumstances should a horse with a minus score be in a qualifying position. On completion of the jumping phase ALL CLEAR ROUNDS and any other horses the judge may require should be asked to return to the ring. 29

30 If a horse positively stops, ceases to go forward at any time during its jumping round, turns its quarters to a fence, or has a complete turnaround, these constitute refusals. If a horse jumps the incorrect fence out of a pen or lane it will be eliminated. Horses displaying continued disobedience, or horses leaving the ring whether mounted or dismounted will be eliminated. 40 points are awarded for Ride/Manners and Conformation. If there are two judges, Judge A awards a maximum score of 20 for Ride/Manners, Judge B awards a maximum of 20 for Conformation. Registration numbers to be stated on the entry form and entries will be sent to the IDHS (GB) prior to the Show to confirm eligibility. 2. All breeding and in hand exhibits must be EITHER already Graded* or eligible for Class 1 on the Irish Draught Breed Register OR registered on the Irish Draught Sport Horse Register. 3. A Member may only qualify once per season between one National Show and the next, and if the Judge s first choice has already qualified, the Rosette will be awarded to the next eligible competitor. 153 Classical Ladies Horse Side Saddle Qualifier The Rough Diamond Trophy Open to SSA Adult Members and Non-members, aged 18 and over on January 1st of the current year, riding side saddle, on horses exceeding 148cm (14.2hh). To be judged 25% conformation and action, 25% manners & way of going, 25% rider, and 25% turnout of horse & rider, by a SHBGB, BSHA, BSPS, P(UK) or SSA Panel Judge. Judges may request a short show, but will not ride exhibits; horses will not be stripped. Traditional habits must be worn. Fancy Dress and Period Costumes NOT permitted. NB Silk hats are permitted to be worn in this class AT ANY TIME OF THE DAY. Judges are requested to use the mark sheet provided. The highest placed horse/rider combination qualifies for the Final to be held at the National Side Saddle Show. In the event of previous qualification, this may be passed down to fourth place. Special rosettes are offered by Mrs T Mitchell to the winner and if the winner has already qualified, a second rosette is awarded with the Qualification Card. Qualifying combinations are required to become Full Members of the SSA 21 days prior to the National Side Saddle Show or as soon as possible if qualified after that date to be eligible to be eligible to compete at the Final.
