3 Important notes for competitors Online entry system: If you are a member of the Society, please enter the discount code MEMBER at the checkout to receive your reduced fees. Your information, tickets and passes will be sent to you immediately upon payment, along with a summary for each entry. You do not need to print out the entry summaries, but please have all admission tickets and car passes with you when you arrive. Our entry system does not accommodate entering one animal into multiple classes using the same animal information. Please complete the first entry for one class in full, and any subsequent classes for the same animal please enter the animals name into animal name field. A maximum of 2 tickets per horse will be allocated. Additional tickets can be purchased upon submitting your entries. If you are a member you will get an additional member ticket. One horsebox pass will be allocated per entry form. If you require extra horsebox passes or competitor car passes, please specify this on your entry form. Prizes All prize winners will be awarded a prize voucher by the Steward. This can be either cashed on the day at The Bank (adjacent to the Show Office) or sent to the show office in Bramley. You will be sent a cheque. Alternatively, please write your account details on the back of the voucher and a transfer will be made. 4 Rules and regulations These rules apply equally to competitors and exhibitors, to owners and/or those responsible for a competitor or exhibitor. 1. To be eligible to make entries at members rates an exhibitor must have paid the annual subscription for the current year, All owners and riders should be a member of their respective Breed or showing Society. Horse and pony classes will be judged according to their respective Society, Association or discipline rules. 3. Stallions must be wearing a bridle disc and/or tail ribbons to clearly identify them as a stallion at all times. No member shall allow a stallion for which he/she is responsible as owner, lessee, authorized agent or ride to compete or be prepared to compete in any competition without taking adequate precautions to ensure that other member of the public are not put at risk of injury. 4. Refunds are not permitted unless a veterinary certificate can be provided showing proof of injury or illness for the animal entered. In this instance, refunds will be given for the entry fee minus the RIHS levy of No refunds of entry loss will be made if the show has to be cancelled for any reason beyond the control of the Society. 5. The Society reserves the right to cancel any breed/type section with three or less exhibitors, and to amalgamate or cancel classes where necessary. In the event of a class having to be cancelled, the entry fees will be returned minus the RIHS levy. 6. Any competitor intending to object to any exhibit must notify the Show Secretary in writing within one hour of the class having been judged with a deposit of 25.00, which will be returned if the protest is sustained, but if in the opinion of the Executive Committee the objection is unreasonable, the deposit to be forfeited. The decision of the Executive Committee shall be final and binding to all parties. 7. Ages will be taken as on the date of the show, except where stated otherwise. 8. Please specify where possible whether you/your horse can be categorized as; novice, amateur, home produced or young rider. 9. A judge s decision shall be final. 10. Neither the Society nor any of its officers or servants will be responsible for anything that may happen to exhibitors, their servants or any other Page 4

5 person, or their respective property or animals, or to any exhibit at the show, and it shall be considered a condition of entry that each exhibitor shall hold the Society blameless and that he shall be considered to indemnify the Society against any legal proceedings, claims or demands in respect thereof. 11. Exhibitors acknowledge that they are taking part in a risk sport and agree to having achieved a level of competency. In addition, they agree that they understand it is their responsibility to insure their property, animals and livestock whilst on the Showground and hold full public liability insurance. 12. The use of doping substances and controlled medication substances in equines competing at the Show will not be tolerated. Competitors should refer to the equine anti-doping and controlled medication rules issued by their governing body or society. Equine anti-doping and controlled medication testing may be carried out at the Show. 13. If any member, competitor or exhibitor violates any of the rules or regulations, they will forfeit any prize or prizes to which they may be entitled and, if a member, be subjected to expulsion from the Society. 14. Any dispute or doubt arising on any questions connected with the Society shall be referred to the Show Secretary in the first instance, who may refer the matter to the Society s Chairman of Council or Chairman of the Horse Committee as appropriate. 15. Pregnant equines where 90% or more of the gestation period has elapsed may not be transported to the show. 16. In classes where there is a height restriction, entries may be measured on the ground in shows in which they are to be exhibited, unless an Official Measurement Certificate is produced. 17. All those entering the rings with equines must be properly dressed i.e. wearing suitable hats, jackets and their exhibit number where applicable. 18. Anyone riding an equine on the showground must wear a hat of a standard approved by the governing body of their respective breed society, association or discipline and under whose rules they are exhibiting and competing. 19. All equines should be accompanied by their approved DEFRA passport and will have received either a primary course or booster vaccination for Page 5

6 equine influenza. 20. No animals, other than that named and described in the catalogue can be exhibited at the Show, and substitutions can only be taken up to Wednesday 23 rd May 2018, with notification in writing to the Show Office. This is with exception of the show jumping classes where special rules apply. 21. The Society reserves the right to alter the timetable of classes publicised at short notice if deemed necessary. 22. The Surrey County Agricultural Society shall have power to interpret these rules and the regulations above mentioned if there should be any ambiguity or difference of opinion concerning the purport or intention of any rule or regulation. The Society shall have power to deal with any matter not provided for in these rules. A full copy of the articles of association of the society may be obtained from the secretary on request. 23. The Surrey County Agricultural Society has taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present at the show. Animals, however, can sometimes be unpredictable. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid or prevent accidents occurring and must act upon the instructions of officials and stewards. 24. Privacy. Surrey County Agricultural Society will require you to provide certain personal information. We will store this information in an encrypted database and use it to notify you of future events and membership renewals. Your name will also be published in the Show Guide for the Surrey County Show and personal details will be passed on to your relevant Breed Society to notify them of results. Should you not wish us to use your information in this way, please secretary@surreycountyshow.co.uk stating exactly which element(s) you wish to opt out of. Page 6

Registration numbers should be quoted on entry forms and owners and riders must be full members of Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain. Day ticket = 35 (this entitles competitors to compete at a maximum of two shows in the year - it covers owner and rider membership together with horse registration for that show). If the class is a qualifying class for RIHS, in order for the qualification to be valid, application for full owner/rider membership and horse registration must be received in the SHB(GB) office within 14 days. The TWO highest placed horses in each class will qualify. Entries must be registered in the weight class in which they are catalogued, unless an application to change weight class has been received by the SHB (GB) office in time for the office to notify this Show of any change. Only one weight change per season is permitted SHB(GB) Hat Ruling: It is strongly recommended that competitors aged 18 or over wear correctly secured Skull Caps / Riding Hats that meet one of the following current safety standards: All PAS 015; ASTM F a onwards; SNELL E2001; AS/ NZS onwards. It is mandatory for competitors under the age of 18 to wear such skull caps or hats. Classes: 2-4 (Ridden hunters). BSHA rules: Horses must be registered with the Association and all Owners, Exhibitors and Riders must be Association Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form. Classes Page 8

9 10-12 and are qualifiers for the Royal International Horse Show. The first prize winner will qualify to compete at the final. If already qualified the second will qualify, if the first and second are already qualified then the third will go forward. Horses competing at the RIHS and qualifying shows in Hunter sections of The Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain at their Affiliated Shows cannot compete in Hack, Cobs and Riding Horse classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa. The three highest placed prize winners in each Open Affiliated class will qualify to compete in the BSHA Classic Supreme classes at the National Championship Show September The BSHA offer a Novice, Young Rider and Amateur rosette in each Open class and a Champion rosette for each section. The Association will also award Amateur Home Produced rosettes in each affiliated Open Cob (Lightweight and Heavyweight) classes. Their rosettes have been kindly sponsored by TSG, Mr L Turley. The awards will go down the line; there is no limit on how many of these rosettes can be claimed in a year. Classes: (Ridden cobs), (Riding horse). BPSA rules: These classes are affiliated to the BSPA and are qualifiers for the RIHS, Tuesday 24 th July Classes judged under BSPA rules (www. bspaonline.com). All horses/ponies must be registered and all owners and riders BSPA members prior to the Show. Rider age taken from 1st January. Membership and qualification cards must be carried in the ring by competitors and produced as required for inspection or signature. Failure to do so will mean disqualification. Spurs may not be worn in any pony classes. Ponies 153cm or under (Shetlands exempt) must possess a current JMB height certificate. Competitors qualifying at this show for the RIHS must submit their entries by recorded delivery post with full payment within 48 hours of qualifying to the Showing Secretary, All England Jumping Course, Hickstead, West Sussex, RH17 5NU. Schedules and entry forms at www. hickstead.co.uk. All stallions must be graded and licensed by BSPA or hold a BSPA Showing Permit for 2018 and have a BSPA stallion ID card and wear BSPA Stallion ID Disc. No rider under 14 may exhibit a stallion in any class. No competitor/owner/horse may compete in this class or enter the ring without current 2018 membership of BSPA and a RIHS qualification card. 1st place and the next unqualified competitor standing 2nd or 3rd qualify from each class. Highest placed amateur and highest placed junior in Page 9

10 each class qualify for Amateur and Junior Supreme Championship Finals to be held at BSPA World of Colour Championships Show 2018 at the College EC, Keysoe, Bedfordshire. Cards to be shown and qualification card signed. All Champion and Reserve Champion winners qualify for BSPA Star Championships at the World of Colour Championships. Classes: (Ridden skewbald and piebald) Qualifiers: other Blue Chip and Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) 2,000 Challenge. The highest placed horse (not already qualified) from each of the following classes 1-4 (hunters), (cobs) and (riding horse) that is registered or eligible for registration on the Irish Draught or Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers, i.e. with a minimum of 25% proven Irish Draught breeding, will qualify for the Final of the Blue Chip & IDHS(GB) 2000 challenge which will be held at the IDHS(GB) Annual Breed Show on 18th - 19th August 2018 at Arena UK, Allington, Grantham, Lincolnshire, NG32 2EF. Horses need not be registered with the Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) to qualify but must be on the IDHS (GB) Registers by the time of the Championship NB: A horse may only qualify for the Final once, regardless of the type or number of classes won, placed in or entered. Each qualifier will receive a card and a 10 voucher from Blue Chip. In the Final, the Champion will be awarded 1,000 prize money, a trophy and a Blue Chip rug. The Reserve Champion will be awarded 500 and 3rd to 7th inclusive will be awarded 100 each. In addition, the highest placed Pure Bred Irish Draught will receive a trophy and 100, the highest placed 158cm (15.2hh) and under will receive a trophy and 50, the highest placed Sport Horse will receive a trophy and 50 and the highest placed Amateur Produced and Ridden Horse will receive 50, a silver salver and a rug. Classes: 1-4 (Ridden hunters), (Ridden cobs), (Riding horse). The Showing Register Riders and In-hand Showing Finals. This show is a qualifier for the 2018 TSR Showing Finals. Qualify and enter ANY of the Finals Central, E Anglia, N West, N East, S East, South, Wales and S West or Scottish. You do not have to be a TSR member to qualify or enter a final. The Rider/ Handler qualifies and can enter any horse/pony in any number of finals. TSR Rider Finals 1 st and 2 nd riders qualify and will receive a qualification Page 10

11 card in the ring. TSR In Hand Finals The two highest placed handlers with a TSR in hand card will qualify in any in hand class. Handlers MUST have their cards signed in the ring by the judge/steward. Cards are available FREE from the TSR website. Full details at TSR Medal Awards TSR members can collect qualification cards and signatures and redeem for a TSR Medal. See TSR website for details. World Championship of Colour Summer Championships 2018 (BSPA). All stallions 4 years and over must be graded, licensed and registered with BSPA in order to compete, and must carry into the ring their BSPA showing ID card and BSPA bridle disc 2018 is to be worn. In order to qualify all owners and handlers must be members of the BSPA and all horses/ponies registered with BSPA prior to the show. BSPA qualification cards must be produced in the ring and be signed by the judge, otherwise qualification is invalid. The highest placed amateur and highest placed junior in each class qualify for amateur and junior Supreme Championship finals to be held at BSPA World of Colour Championship Show 2018, The College EC, Keysoe, Beds. Cards to be shown and qualification card signed. Qualifications 1 st to 3 rd in all classes, or 1 st - 4 th for classes exceeding 10 forward. Classes: (in-hand skewbald and piebald) Ponies (UK) Winter Classic and Supreme Championship qualifiers. The Ponies (UK) Open Final. Classes 2-4 (Ridden hunters). The Ponies (UK) Amateur Rider Riding Horse/Hunter/Cob Final. Classes 1 4 (Ridden hunters), (Ridden cob) and (Riding horse). The Ponies (UK) Ridden Cob Final. Classes (Ridden cobs). The Ponies (UK) Ridden Piebald/Skewbald Horse/Pony Final. Classes (Ridden skewbald and piebald). The Ponies (UK) Amateur Riders Ridden Coloured horse/pony Final. Classes (M & M in-hand). The 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd placed competitors will qualify for the 2019 P(UK) Winter Classic, Equifest and BSPA No membership is required to enter or compete in any Championship Final. NPS Qualifying Rounds. These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain and Moorland Stud Books. Part breds are not eligible for Mountain and Moorland Classes. To compete in Show Pony and Show Hunter Pony classes ponies must be registered in the NPS British Riding Pony Stud Book, Register, Appendix, International or Sports Pony section of the BRPSB, the GSB, the AHSB, the AASB or in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part-Breds are not eligible unless entered in the NPS British Riding Pony Stud Book, Register, Appendix, International or Sports Pony section of the BRPSB. Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members but only ponies owned by adult NPS Qualifying or Life members are eligible to qualify for the final of the competition at the NPS Summer Championship Show at Malvern from 31 st July 2 nd August The highest placed pony, if owned by an NPS member, in each class will qualify for the final. Qualification may pass down to third place if the first and second ponies are already qualified. NPS/ Rosettes Direct Home Produced Ridden Championship - Riders of Home Produced ponies (see definition in the NPS Rules Book) can wear a white arm band in classes where this is indicated. These ponies, if owned by NPS members, are then eligible to qualify for the final at the NPS Summer Championship Show. The Owner s Membership cards MUST be produced in the ring when requested or the qualification will be forfeit. Classes (Riding pony breeding), (M & M open ridden), (M & M in-hand). Page 12

13 NPS Silver Medal Rosette Championships. These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. NPS Silver Medal Rosettes are only awarded when the owner of the champion pony is a Qualifying or Life member of the NPS. A valid membership card must be in the rider s/handler s possession on entering the ring and be produced immediately on request by either the judge or the steward. If the owner of the Champion pony is not a member, or the owner s membership card is not immediately produced, the rosette may be awarded to the Reserve Champion provided they have the required membership card. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the qualification card goes to the Reserve Champion pony, provided the owner of that pony is a member of the NPS. The Silver Medal Rosette and the qualification card can be awarded no lower than first Reserve (third). Foals are not eligible for Silver Medal Championships. Classes (Riding pony breeding), (M & M open ridden), (M & M in-hand). National Welsh Brightwells Section A, B, C and D In-Hand Championships. Held at the National Welsh Championship Show at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern on the 5 th August Both the champion and reserve champion Sections A, B, C and D will qualify for this Championship. In the event of either having previously qualified, then the qualification will pass to the 2 nd reserve in the Championship. These are also qualifying classes for the National Welsh Sarum Investment Gelding Championship. Qualifying cards will go to the highest placed gelding in each class. Classes and (Welsh in-hand). The National Welsh Brynseion Stud Ridden Section A, B, C & D Championships. To be held at the National Welsh Championship Show at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern on the 5 th August The two highest placed ridden Welsh Section A, B, C & D ponies will qualify for this Championship. If either pony has previously qualified, then it can be awarded to the next eligible pony. Classes (M & M open ridden). Exmoor Pony of The Year. The Exmoor Pony Society will award two pony of the year qualifiers - one to the highest placed adult and one to the highest Page 13

14 placed youngstock. Owner to be members of the Exmoor Pony Society. Class 37 (Exmoor in-hand). The Tam O'Shanter Championship. Held at the British Connemara Pony Society (BCPS) Annual Breed Show on Saturday 14 th July 2018 at Home Farm, Hothorpe, Theddingworth, Leicestershire, LE17 6QX. Qualifying cards and rosettes will be awarded to the highest placed Connemara yearling, two-yearold and three-year-old. If already qualified, cards may go down to sixth place. Class 46 (Connemara in-hand). Dales Pony Society Premium Stallion Show. Stallion Premiums are awarded on the basis of the success of the progeny of stallions in the show ring. This means that the stallions will be awarded premiums by adding up the points won by their foals. Shows will be used to allocate points towards premiums for the sires of ponies which win 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd places in Dales only classes, provided there are 3 or more entries in the class. Points will be allocated for the whole season, and premiums will be announced in the autumn, and scores published in the newsletter each year. The title of Premium Stallion will be given to the top ten stallions each year, and will then be a title for the life of the pony. Points are allocated as follows, and the highest placing for each pony will only count once in the year. 1 st = 3 points, 2 nd = 2 points, 3 rd = 1 point. Reserve Champion = 4 points, Champion = 5 points. Points will only be taken from in-hand classes where there are three or more entries. Class 35 (Dales in hand). Donkey rules and regulations 1. No person may deliberately enter or show a donkey under a Judge who is known to have either owned, bred, leased, sold, produced or prepared that donkey. No donkey should be entered or shown under a judge who has owned, bred or leased the sire of that animal. The breeder is the mare owner. 2. Entering one donkey and exhibiting another is not permitted. Once judging has commenced, a donkey may not be led or ridden in or out of the ring without the permission of the Judge. 3. No nomination entries are permitted. 4. DBS Members must carry their DBS membership cards at all times when showing for production on request in order to receive DBS rosettes. Page 14

15 5. A Judge will ask a competitor to leave the ring if either they or their donkey act in an improper manner. 6. Stallions and entire colts must be properly dressed in bridle and bit with the leading rein correctly attached to the bit. No person under the age of 17 may handle an entire donkey (foals excepted). No entire male donkey is allowed to compete in any children s classes. 7. Ridden classes: Donkeys entered must be four years old and over and must have a correctly fitting bridle and saddle. A child of 8 years and under may compete on a leading rein in any riding class. When a child competes on a leading rein, the donkey must be led by a competent adult (18yrs and over) and leading reins must be attached to the noseband. All riders must wear an approved correctly fitting hard hat to conform to the current BSI standards. 8. Young handlers classes: To be judged on the ability of the Young Handler and not on the conformation of the donkey. A Young Handler is one who has not attained their 16 th birthday on the day of the Show. 9. Championships: The 1 st and 2 nd prize winners from each class to parade in the ring wearing the appropriate rosettes they have already won. Please note, Class 60 (Best condition and turnout) does not qualify for the Championships. 10. Classes will start at 1pm. 11. Rosettes are offered to 6th place. Exhibitors will be supplied with a green vehicle label and admission passes by . No-one may enter the showground without an admission pass. Please display the vehicle label in your windscreen. Only vehicles towing trailers and horseboxes may enter the donkey parking area. Additional cars should park in the White car park and you can apply for these white car labels on your entry form (please note that this is a ten minute walk from the Donkey ring). Page 15
