ARTICLES OF ASSOCIATION, BY-LAWS AND REGULATIONS: (a) The organisation of the Festival of Hunting is under the control of a Council, which consists of representatives of the participating Agricultural Societies. (b) The Show is held under the Articles of Association, By-laws and Regulations of the East of England Agricultural Society, which accordingly bind all exhibitors, members of the participating Agricultural Societies and all others attending the Show. (c) COMPLIANCE WITH GOVERNMENT AND LOCAL AUTHORITY REGULATIONS AND ALL CODES OF PRACTICE: All Shows, Exhibitions and Events organised by the Society on the Showground or elsewhere are subject to any relevant Orders issued by Government Departments and Local Authorities, and all Codes of Practice with which all exhibitors and other attending such Shows, Exhibitions or Events must comply. (d) Exhibitor s attention is also drawn to the breed regulations and competition conditions printed in this Prize List. (e) Copies of the Articles of Associations, By-laws and Regulations can be obtained on request to the Secretary of the Society. 2) PRIZE MONEY will be awarded depending on the number of CATALOGUED entries received: 1-3 catalogued entries: 1 st prize money only will be awarded 4-6 catalogued entries: 1 st and 2 nd prize money will be awarded 7-8 catalogued entries: 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd prize money will be awarded 3) SOCIETY S TROPHIES: Exhibitors are reminded that without exception the Society s Trophies are for Perpetual Competition. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to return all trophies to the showground at least 30 days prior to the date of the Show. 4) OBJECTIONS. Any exhibitor at the Show feeling himself aggrieved must make his protest in writing within one hour of the completion of the judging of the class and pay a deposit to the Secretary of (or other higher sum as determined by any organisation to which this Society is affiliated or acts under the rule of). Objections will not be entertained from any person or organisation not exhibiting in the same class as the animal to which the objection is raised. An Appeals Tribunal will consider objections, (excepting those handled by other appropriate organisations) at a time and place to be fixed by them and the person making the objection must be available to attend or, be presented by his authorised agent at the appointed time and place. The decision of the Appeals Tribunal shall be final, and if the protest be not substantiated the deposit may be forfeited. The animal to which the objection is raised must remain on the showground until permission to leave has been obtained from the Secretary in writing. The Society reserves to itself the right to refer an objection to any authority or organisation to adjudicate, wholly or in part, in respect of an objection, on behalf of a Society. 5) INSURANCE (a) It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to insure all property and livestock on the Showground or elsewhere which is his own, or for which he is responsible. (b) The Society requires exhibitors to effect Employers Liability insurance where this is required by statute. (c) The Society also requires to exhibitors effect Public Liability and Products Liability insurance with a minimum indemnity of 1,000,000 to protect their liability. 2

3 EXTRACT FROM EAST OF ENGLAND BY-LAWS REGULATIONS SPECIFIC TO EQUINE EVENTS 1. All Classes are open unless otherwise stated. Entries are made at the fees stated in the Schedule. All stock exhibited for prizes shall be bona fide in the legal ownership of the exhibitor at the time of entry and the Event or for such a period as shall be set out in the Schedule under the conditions of the particular class concerned. 2. The Judge s decision is final. 3. Horses must have proper halters when on the Showground. 4. Animals sent for exhibition may at any time on the instructions of the Judges, Stewards or other Officials of the Society be inspected by the Vet. The Vet may order the removal from the Showground of any animal which, in their opinion, is affected by any disease likely to prove harmful to other animals or is in any way unfit for exhibition. The Vet shall hand a certificate recording their findings to the person in charge of any rejected animal. 5. It is strongly recommended that all horses, other than foals, receive a full course of Equine Influenza Vaccination as recommended by the British Equine Association within the 12 months prior to exhibition at an Event. Passports must accompany animals to the Event. The vaccination of foals is left to the discretion of the owner and his Vet. 6. The age of horses to be calculated from 1st January in the year of their birth. 7. Brood Mares must have their own foals at foot. 8. Concealing exhibits during Events: during the time an Event is open to the public no sheeting or other material may be affixed to any part of the livestock accommodation in such a way that any animal is concealed from public view. 9. HARD HATS. It is a regulation of the East of England Agricultural Showground that all riders (including Ride Judges) wear correctly fitting protective headgear which complies with the latest British Standard with a CE Mark at all times whilst mounted. The Company and Organiser accept no responsibility for any injury arising from a failure to comply with this regulation. 10. All Entrants are asked to be aware of animals on the Showground and ensure that all exhibits are fit and well. If any Entrant has reason to believe that an animal is unfit he should report this to the Equine Office. 11. Cancellation and / or alteration to classes: The Council reserves the right to cancel, divide or amalgamate or otherwise change any class or to limit entries in any class or section from the entrant. The Chairman and Vice Chairman of Council and Senior Steward or the appropriate section are given executive powers 12.!!! ENTRIES & VEHICLE PASSES PLEASE READ!!! Entries received by the close of entries will be acknowledged and numbers / vehicle passes and competitor information will be sent out. ENTRIES MADE AT THE SHOW ALL HORSE BOXES / TRAILERS ARRIVING AT THE EQUINE GATE WITHOUT A VALID VEHICLE PASS WILL BE CHARGED A 10 FEE. THIS WILL BE FULLY REFUNDABLE PROVIDING ENTRIES ARE MADE AT THE SHOW SECRETARY S OFFICE. All cars and passengers arriving at any gate will have to pay a non-refundable admittance charge unless they are clearly displaying a car pass issued by the Equine Office. Cars will only be allowed in to the equine areas if they have a valid vehicle pass for this gate. Producers who require a car pass for their owners must apply for a pass in advance from the Show Office. 3

Entries in these classes may not compete in the Small Show Hunter of the Year, and vice versa. Any horse that qualifies for Horse of the Year Show, in a Ridden Hunter class (not including Working Hunter classes) will not be eligible to compete in Novice classes from 1 st January the following year but horses that qualified for Horse Of The Year Show as a 4 year old are exempt. 9 NOVICE MWT / HWT HUNTER, mare or gelding, four years old and over, calculated to carry over 13 stone (82.6 kgs). A Novice Hunter must not have won a first prize of 60 or a total of 200 (or equivalent values) in any affiliated Ridden Hunter Classes at home or abroad, before 1 st January in the current year, excepting all prize money won as a four year old. Any horse that qualifies for Horse of the Year Show, in a Ridden Hunter class (not including Working Hunter classes) will not be eligible to compete in Novice classes from 1 st January the following year but horses that qualified for Horse Of The Year Show as a 4 year old are exempt. 1 st and 2 nd prize winners from classes 8 & 9 to compete for the Championship. FESTIVAL OF HUNTING 2017 All pre-entries will be acknowledged and vehicle passes will be sent out. Horseboxes / trailers must display a valid pass or they will be charged an admission fee on arrival. Entries may be made for all classes on the day but any vehicle arriving without a vehicle pass will have to pay a 10 admission fee on arrival. This will be fully refundable providing entries are made at the Show Secretary s Office and the receipt is shown. All cars & occupants without a valid pass will be charged a non-refundable admission fee. 6

The two highest placed exhibits not already qualified will qualify for the Nupafeed Ridden Cob Championship to be held at the East of England Showground on the 9 th 13 th August The first and second prize winners from classes to compete. 12 ROR JOCKEY CLUB NOVICE SHOW SERIES QUALIFIER Thoroughbred mare or gelding, 4years old or over, any height. Rider must be 15 years or over on 1 st January. To take part in this class, horses must NOT have won an open class (inc SEIB/HOYS, RoR Tattersalls Show Series Qualifier, TARRA Ridden, RoR AMATEUR Ridden Show Series Qualifier or any other open class except RoR TBA Challenge Show Series classes. Horses will be de-noviced after 3 novice wins or any open win, but is still eligible to compete at the RoR National Show that August. Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle. Horses should be plaited. The first three go forward to the championship at the RoR National Show at Aintree in August 2017 or 2018 for shows after 1 st August 2017 to the 31 st July All entries MUST be registered with the RoR and have RACED in GB. The class will be run under the rules of RoR. Horses will NOT be ridden by the judge; each horse to complete an individual show or no longer than 1 ½ minutes to include the following movements: Walk, Trot, Canter showing change of leg, extended canter, halt and stand, walk off on long rein. Horses will be stripped for conformation. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force. Please be aware that the show will split the class on the horse s last run in a race (NH or Flat) should the entries exceed 20. Please mark your entry form accordingly. Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap. Racing injuries and blemishes are NOT ignored in this series. Prizes: Rosette 1 st -6 th & Vouchers 1-4 th : 1 st 50 plus voucher for jacket, 2 nd 25, 3 rd 20, 4 th 10. ROR AMATEUR RIDDEN SHOW SERIES QUALIFIER CLASS 13 An amateur is a person who for the purpose of RoR classes does not/has not during the current season or previous season: Engage (d) in breeding, livery, buying or selling, dealing or hiring horses (for the show ring) in a commercial capacity. Horses must not have been stabled at or reside in a Professional Producer's/Trainer's yard (in the current season or previous season). Riders must not have ridden any animals produced by a Professional/Trainer in the current or previous season. Horses and riders must not have received any help from a Professional Producer/Trainer at a SHOW in the current or previous season. Horses must not have been ridden at a show by a rider who has ridden for a Professional / Producer Trainer in the current or previous season. Any breaches of this ruling will be taken seriously and will result in disqualification from future classes. 13 ROR AMATEUR RIDDEN SHOW SERIES QUALIFIER (FORMERLY TARRA) Open to all RoR and NR registered horses, 4yrs and over, mares and geldings, owned, produced and ridden by an Amateur. The Series is open to AMATEURS only those employed in racing will be allowed to compete. Class will be judged under riding horse format without type being taken into consideration. Blemishes caused through racing will be ignored. The first three horses will qualify. The Judge will not ride at the qualifier but will ride in the final. This class is a qualifier for the RoR AMATEUR Ridden Show Series FINAL at the RoR National Championship Show at Aintree, August Prizes : Rosettes 1 st - 6 th 1 st 40 plus RoR jacket, 2 nd 30, 3 rd 20, 4 th 10 7

8 13 OPEN SMALL RIDING HORSE - mare or gelding, four years old and over, exceeding 148cms and not exceeding 158cms. The two highest placed exhibits not already qualified will qualify for the Nupafeed Riding Horse Championship to be held at the East of England Showground on the 9 th 13 th August OPEN LARGE RIDING HORSE - mare or gelding, four years old and over, exceeding 158cms. The two highest placed exhibits not already qualified will qualify for the Nupafeed Riding Horse Championship to be held at the East of England Showground on the 9 th 13 th August The first and second prize winners from classes 13 & 14 to compete. CHAPS CLASSES ENTRY FEES: ENTRY FEES ON THE DAY: PRIZES: 1st: 55 2nd: 50 3rd: 45 THIS INCLUDES A CONTRIBUTION FOR HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW, NEC, BIRMINGHAM, 4 th - 8 th OCTOBER 2017 This show is affiliated to the COLOURED HORSE & PONY SOCIETY (UK). All stallions must be graded with CHAPS (UK). CHAPS (UK) Stallion ID Disc must be worn in the ring Lead Reins are not eligible for these classes. For full rulings and information on competition/qualification, please refer to the CHAPS (UK) Members Handbook; or visit These classes will be run in accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook, a copy of which can be downloaded from Only one exhibit may qualify per class. If the 1 st placed animal has already qualified, the qualifier may pass down to the highest placed exhibit standing to 5 th place only, who has not already qualified. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. No spurs to be worn by junior exhibitors (under 18 years) or any rider competing in a restricted height section. All ages taken as at 1 st January in the current year. Horses/ponies to be produced at Horse of the Year Show in the same type category in which they qualified. Failure to comply with ANY of the qualifying rules will result in forfeit of the qualifying place. The pull-in or no pull-in system is at the discretion of the Judges on the day. The Judges must make this decision prior to the commencement of the first class and Stewards to be instructed accordingly. If no pull is used, competitors will be asked to line up in any order from the initial presentation. These classes are open to mares, geldings and CHAPS (UK) graded stallions, four years old or over, to be registered in, and complying with the showing requirements of, the main body of the stud books of the Coloured Horse and Pony Society CHAPS (UK) or the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association (TGCA). Stallions are required to wear CHAPS (UK) stallion discs in order to compete. All Riders and owners must be Members of the Coloured Horse and Pony Society, The Showing Register or the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association. For height restricted exhibits a valid JMB number must be lodged with the respective society. These classes will be run in accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook, a copy of which can be downloaded from Marks will be awarded in the following way: Ride/Performance - 50 Marks Maximum Conformation, Movement & Quality - 50 Marks Maximum In the case of equality, the horse with the highest Ride/Performance mark will be deemed the winner. 11 WORKING HUNTER RING CLASSES: 24-25: NON-HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW QUALIFIER ENTRY FEES: ENTRY FEES ON THE DAY: PRIZES: 1st: 40 2nd: 35 3rd: 25 CLASS 24 THE RoR/TBA RETRAINED RACEHORSE CHALLENGE 2017 PHASE 1 Jumping to be judged: 8 rustic jumps ( 2 6 to 3 foot with a maximum spread of 85 centimeters ) The following points to be deducted at the end of each jumping round: 10 points to be deducted for a knock down. 15 points to be deducted for a refusal. 20 points for second refusal. Elimination for third refusal or fall PHASE 2 Class returns without boots and judged for an individual show/conformation. Each horse to complete an individual show of no longer than 1 ½ minutes. Show to include the following movements: Walk, Trot, canter showing change of leg, extended canter (gallop) halt and stand, walk off on long rein. Total marks out of 30% for Show, manners and suitability to be retrained. 24 THE RoR/TBA RETRAINED RACEHORSE CHALLENGE Mare or gelding 4 years old or over and of any height. Riders must be 15 years old or over on the 1 st January. Horses to be ridden in any suitable bridle and should be plaited. All entries must be registered with RoR and HAVE raced in GB. The first three go forward to the championship at the RoR National Show at Aintree in August Horses will NOT be ridden by the judge. Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force. Racing injuries and blemishes ARE IGNORED in this series. The class to be judged 50% jumping, 20% Style while jumping and performance and 30% awarded for show, manners and suitability to be retrained. Prizes: Rosettes 1 st -6 th and Vouchers 1 st to 4 th place. 1 st 50 plus voucher for jacket, 2 nd 25, 3 rd 20, 4 th 10. Veteran prize (15+): 25 voucher to be redeemed from RoR office and qualification for the Veteran final at the RoR National Show at Aintree CLASS 25 NOVICE WORKING HUNTER Minimum of eight fences, maximum of 12, maximum height 3ft 9ins. Fences will have a natural appearance and not be easily dislodged. The manner of going of horse and rider will be taken into account. Refusals will be severely penalised. The highest placed un-qualified horse in the first three will qualify. Please note Grade A Show Jumpers and Advanced Event horses are not eligible to compete in this class. No hind boots or bandages may be used. No change of rider or tack will be allowed. Current approved standard BSI or European skull cap or hard hat must be worn. All obstacles are to be numbered. 25 NOVICE WORKING HUNTER, stallion, mare or gelding (competing stallions must have a red, white and blue ribbon displayed in their tail) four years old and over not to have won a total of 200, excluding championship prize money, (or equivalent values) in prize money in any affiliated Working Hunter Class, or more than 25 BE points or 200 BSJA Show-jumping, at home or equivalent abroad before 1st January in the relevant year. Fences in Novice Working Hunter classes should have a minimum height of 0.85m (2 9 ) and a maximum height of 1.00m (3 3 ). Exhibitors to declare at the ring. 11

Any horse which has qualified as a Grade A Show Jumper or Advanced Event Horse as at 1st January in the current year is not eligible to compete in Working Hunter classes. All Riders, Owners and Producers must be Members of the British Show Horse Association. Horses must be registered with the British Show Horse Association. Fences will not exceed 1.14m (3ft 9ins) in height, there should be a minimum of 8 fences and a maximum of 12 fences. The course must contain a combination and should contain a water tray. This class will be judged in two parts. Part One (Jumping) will be judged first, without a jump-off. All clear rounds and any other horses the judges may require will go forward to the next part. A rider can ride up to two horses in the jumping phase but then must select only one horse to take forward into the ride and conformation section if so required (no change of rider is allowed).
