4 NOTICE TO ALL EXHIBITORS PLEASE ADHERE TO PARKING INSTRUCTION ISSUED BY SHOW STEWARDS All horse passports should be available for inspection, if required. ENTRIES - Due to time constraints entries for all classes may be limited, so please ensure your entry is in early to avoid disappointment. FARRIER - Mr Richard Francis will be in attendance at the show. MOBILE PHONES - Mobiles are not permitted within judging rings. DRESS CODE - Grooms/Attendants appearing with animals in the judging rings must be in proper dress code with appropriate headwear. SHOWING ORDER - The Showing timetable may be altered at the Secretaries/Chief Steward s discretion and the times are only a GUIDELINE. There will be a 10 min call before your section is called for judging. No classes can be held over for ANY competitor and if changing the running order causes clashing of classes the show cannot be held liable. Competitors are advised when entering to consider the timetable. No horse/pony can enter the ring when judging has commenced. THE GOWER SHOW is affiliated to the following societies - Welsh Pony and Cob Society - Shetland Pony Society - Equifest - Wales and Border Counties Agricultural and Horse Shows Association - The Showing Register TSR Riders & In Hand Regional Finals This show is a qualifier for the 2018 TSR Regional Finals. Qualify and enter ANY of the Regional Finals Central. East Angliam North West, North East, South East, South,Wales & South West or Scottish. You DO NOT have to be a TSR member to qualify or enter a final. The Rider/Handler qualifies and can enter any horse/pony in any number of the finals! TSR Riders Finals 1st & 2nd riders qualify and will receive a qualification card in the ring. TSR In Hand Finals The two highest placed handlers with a TSR In Hand card will qualify in any In Hand class. Handlers MUST have their cards signed in the ring by the judge/steward, cards are available free from TSR website. Full details at TSR Medal Awards TSR members can collect qualification cards & signatures and redeem for a TSR Medal see TSR website for details. OVERALL WELSH IN HAND CHAMPIONSHIP: Open to Champion and Reserve from sections A, B,C & D. 28 Ridden Welsh Section A,B,C & D Stallion, Mare or Gelding 4 years old and over to be shown under saddle. Cup to the Winner of this Class NOTE FOR WELSH CLASSES:- For ponies not exceeding 13.2hh (137.2cms), no shoe shall exceed 1lb in weight in the case of stallions, or 8oz in the case of mares and young stock. For cobs exceeding 13.2hh (137.2cms) and not exceeding 14.0hh (143cms), no shoe shall exceed 1.5 lbs in weight. For cobs exceeding 14.0hh (143cms), no shoe shall exceed 2 lbs in weight, or in the case of yearling colts and fillies, 1.5 lbs in weight. Half an inch will be allowed in height for shoeing. 6

7 SHOW PONY AND SHOW HUNTER PONY SECTION (Includes Best Turned Out And Local Ridden Section) THIS SECTION WILL BE JUDGED AT 9.00am IN THE PRESIDENTS RING. 29 Best Turned Out, Plaited - open to riders of any age, and horses and ponies of any size. 30 Best Turned Out, Unplaited - open to riders of any age 31 Leading Rein Pony - open to Mares and Geldings 4 years old and over, not exceeding 12hh (122cms) most suitable for and to be ridden by a child not having attained his or her 8th birthday 1st January in the current year. Snaffle bridles only. THE PRIORSWOOD TROPHY AND ROSETTE - Presented by Mr & Mrs Tardioli will be awarded to the best exhibit in class First Ridden Pony - Oopen to Mares and Geldings 4 years old and over, not exceeding 12hh (122cms) most suitable for and to be ridden by a child not having attained his or her 10th birthday on 1st January in the current year. Snaffle bridles only. THE JOHN TAYLOR PERPETUAL MEMORIAL TROPHY will be awarded to the best exhibit in class 32. MINI CHAMPIONSHIP: Open to 1st and 2nd prize winners in classes 31 & 32. Notes to Leading Rein Competitors:- In Leading Rein classes, the rein MUST go directly from the bit to the rider s hand, with no extra aid or attachment to, or on the saddle. The reins must be a normal length and not knotted or stitched together at a shorter length. In Leading Rein classes, handles on the saddles are permitted but reins MUST NOT be attached to the saddle or to the handle. 33 Mixed Height Show Pony - open to Mares and Geldings 4 years old and over, not exceeding 14.2hh (148cms) most suitable for and to be ridden by a child not having attained their 17th Birthday on 1st January in the current year. 34 Mixed Height Show Hunter Pony - open to Mares and Geldings 4 years old and over, not exceeding 15 hh (153cms) most suitable for and to be ridden by a child not having attained their 20th Birthday on 1st January in the current year. 35 Mixed Height NOVICE Show Pony or Show Hunter Pony - open to Mares and Geldings 4 years old and over, not to have won a first prize of 10 or more up to 1st January in the current year not exceeding 14.2hh (148cms) most suitable for and to be ridden by a child not having attained their 17th Birthday on 1st January in the current year for Show Ponies and not exceeding 15 hh (153cms) most suitable for and to be ridden by a child not having attained their 20th Birthday on 1st January in the current year for Show Hunter Ponies. Snaffle bridles acceptable. 9 MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND SECTION 38 Leading Rein Open to registered Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest, Welsh Section A or B mares and geldings four years old or over not exceeding 122 cm. Riders must have attained their 3rd birthday but must not have attained their 9th birthday before the 1st January in the current year. To be shown in a snaffle bit. 39 First Ridden Open to registered Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest, Welsh Section A or B mares and geldings four years old or over not exceeding 128 cm. Riders must have attained their 3rd birthday but not reached their 12th birthday before the 1st January in the current year 40 Ridden Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Welsh A, Welsh B Open to registered pure bred Mountain and Moorland Stallions, mares and geldings four years old or over. 41 Ridden Connemara, Dales, Fell, Highland, New Forest, Welsh C, Welsh D Open to registered pure bred Mountain and Moorland Stallions, mares and geldings four years old or over. CHAMPIONSHIP: Open to 1st and 2nd prize winners in classes THE FERNEL GANOL FARM TROPHY: Awarded to the best exhibit in classes In Hand Mountain and Moorland SMALL BREEDS 43 In Hand Mountain and Moorland LARGE BREEDS CHAMPIONSHIP: Open to 1st & 2nd prize winners in classes EQUIFEST 2019 This show is affiliated to Equifest. To be ridden by a lady or gentleman. 45 Lightweight Hunter - Mare or Gelding, 4 years & over, capable of carrying 82.7kgs (13 stone) and under. 46 Heavyweight Hunter - Mare or Gelding, 4 years & over, capable of carrying over 82.7kgs (13 stone). CHAMPIONSHIP: Open to 1st and 2nd prize winners in classes THE HUNTER CHAMPIONSHIP CUP: Kindly presented by Rosemary & David Rees, Aberlogin Holiday Cottages, Wernffrwd, Gower will be awarded to the Champion. Rosettes to Champion and Reserve. RIDING HORSES, HACKS, COBS, ARABS This show is affiliated to Equifest. The two highest placed exhibits not already qualified in classes will qualify for the relevant Equifest Championship to be held at the East of England Showground in August No membership is required, open to all exhibits. Horses must compete under original name registered at Weatherbys. Class will be judged in a Riding Class format and must be plaited. CHAMPIONSHIP: Open to 1st and 2nd prize winners in classes THE FOXWELL CHALLENGE CUP: Will be awarded to the Champion. 51 Riding Cob - (Lightweight or Heavyweight) Mare or Gelding, 4 years & over exceeding 14.2hh (148cms) but not exceeding 15.1hh (153cms) to be ridden by a lady or gentleman. 52 Maxi Cob CHAMPIONSHIP: Open to 1st and 2nd prize winners in classes 51 & 52. THE BLACKHILLS TROPHY: Will be awarded to the Champion. 15 WORKING HUNTER SECTION Unaffiliated Novice Working Hunters. All classes below are for horses and ponies four years old or over, to include Mountain & Moorland ponies. Riders any age but must be the correct size for the animal they ride. A novice is a horse or pony not to have won a first prize of 50 in any Working Hunter Competition. Correct riding dress must be worn in the ring. All riders must wear hard hats for the jumping phase with chin strap/harness fastened. Hats to comply with or exceed current British Standard. Body Protectors are strongly recommended. Boots of a plain colour, i.e. black or brown may be used for jumping but must be removed for showing phase. Entries for Clases 54 and 55 s in the Working Hunter section will be taken on the day at no extra cost provided you have pre entered Class 53 or Class 54 by the closing date. Payment will be made to a steward in the collecting ring for the extra class and will be 10 as per pre entry cost 53 Novice Working Hunter - Fences will not exceed 2ft 6ins. 54 Novice Intermediate Working Hunter - Fences will not exceed 3ft. 55 Novice Open Working Hunter - Fences will not exceed 3ft 6ins. CHAMPIONSHIP: Open to 1st and 2nd prize winners in classes SHETLANDS This section is affiliated to THE SHETLAND PONY STUD BOOK SOCIETY and their rules are deemed to be understood and adhered to be all competitors in this section. SHETLAND PONY STUD BOOK SOCIETY 1. Classes must be confined to Registered Ponies. Ponies must be named on the entry form and in the catalogue if one is produced. Society rosettes must only be given to ponies registered with the Society or eligible for registration (i.e. foals) 2. Three year old fillies with foals at foot may not be shown. All foals must be a minimum of three weeks old on the day of the Show. 3. There must be no colts or entire males in Young Handlers classes. Children under 14 yrs old may not show colts (excluding foals) or entire males in In-hand classes. Children under 11 yrs old on the day of the show may not show entire males in ridden classes. In the interests of safety, hard hats must be worn by all handlers aged 14 yrs or under in In-hand classes. Exhibitors should not kneel but remain standing while in the ring. Hard hats must be worn by all exhibitors, irrespective of age, in ridden classes. In ridden Classes, if a rider falls off at any time whilst in the ring, both pony and rider must leave the ring, rider dismounted, and take no further part. 56 Stallion, four years old or over 57 Mare or Gelding, four years old or over, rosette for best foal 15

SKEWBALD AND PIEBALD SECTION 63 Inhand Skewbald and Piebald horse or pony - Any age height or sex to be shown plaited. 64 Inhand Skewbald and Piebald horse or pony - Any age height, sex to be shown native, traditional or hogged. 65 Inhand Skewbald and Piebald horse or pony - Yearling 2 or 3 year old any height or sex. 66 Skewbald and Piebald Ridden horse or pony - Four years old or over to be shown under saddle - plaited. 67 Skewbald and Piebald Ridden horse or pony - Four years old or over to be shown under saddle - native, traditional or hogged. 68 Traditional Gypsy Cob Ridden horse or pony - Four years old or over to be shown under saddle. 18 SIDE SADDLE GOWER AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY 82 Open to horses or ponies 4 years old or over to be ridden Side-saddle. Conformation and manners will be taken into consideration. Horses/ponies will not be stripped 83 Side-Saddle - Concours d Elegance - The sole criterion for this class is the elegance of the picture presented by horse and rider. Attention may be paid to the rider s personal appearance, but detailed inspection of rider or tack is not required. Fancy dress or period costume is not permitted. Competitors are required to walk, trot and canter. No individual show is required, but the Judge may ask groups of three or four riders to give short displays. CHAMPIONSHIP: Open to 1st and 2nd prize winners in classes HARNESS CLASSES Driving classes for the best horse / pony irrespective of size, correctly and smartly harnessed to a sound, suitable and well maintained vehicle, suitable for a competent whip to drive in company. All horses / ponies must be 4 years old or over. Refund of Entry fee on Appearance. 20 RULES 1. The Society shall be called THE GOWER AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY and shall consist of ordinary members from whom shall be elected annually President, Vice-Presidents and Honorary Treasurer, an Honorary Secretary or Secretaries and a Committee to manage the Society. 2. The Payment of an annual subscription of 20 family, 16 double and 8 single (inc. VAT) shall constitute a person an ordinary member of the Society. 3. The principal objects of the Society shall be the improvement in the breeds of cattle, horses, sheep and pigs and the improvement of agricultural machinery and implements and the developments of agriculture generally and to hold an Exhibition thereof, and if the Society so decides to combine with such Exhibition classes for Horticulture, Forestry, Dogs, Bee Keeping and Rural Arts and Crafts. 4. All subscriptions shall be paid to the Secretary or Secretaries not later than the 31st July in each year and the Annual General Meeting shall be held not later than March in each year. 5. The Annual General Meeting of the Society shall appoint annually a President, an Honorary Treasurer and a committee to manage the Society and any officers and such committees as it may consider necessary for the running of the Society during the forthcoming year. 6. Persons, who for special services to the Society, or its objects, the Society may wish to honour by appointment as Vice-Presidents or Honorary Members or other similar positions, shall be appointed at the Annual General Meeting only on the recommendation of a majority of the Management Committee. The Management Committee shall only make such recommendations in the case of persons proposed and seconded by members of that Committee and shall ignore representations made by other than their own members. 7. The Treasurer and the Chief Financial Steward shall be responsible for the collection of all subscriptions all donations and any sums due to the Society and the making of all payments authorised by the Committee on behalf of the Society, except prize money, shall be paid by cheque signed by any two of the President, the Treasurer and two members appointed by the Finance and Organisation Committee of the Society. 8. The funds of the Society shall be utilised for the purpose of maintaining and developing the objectives of the Society. 9. Closed classes shall be confined to exhibitors occupying a residence or farm building within the boundaries of the City and County of Swansea. 10. The rules of the Society shall be altered only by a General Meeting of the Society. CONDITIONS OF EXHIBITION 1. All exhibits in the livestock and poultry section must be on the showground no later than 9.00am on the morning of the show. Exhibits shall not be removed from the showground before the prize presentation without the permission of the Livestock Secretary. No exhibition in other sections to be removed before 5.30pm. 2. Horses should arrive in good time for their class and to allow enough time for preparation and warm-up. Parking for horse trailers and horse lorries is not guaranteed. Every effort will be made to stick to the running order but the committee reserve the right to make a change if circumstances deem this necessary. 3. The decision of the Judges shall be final. 4. Any objection to an exhibit must be lodged with the Secretary in writing and a deposit of 10 paid within two hours of the Class being judged. The deposit of 10 will be returned if the objection is upheld, but forfeited to the Society if the objection is not sustained. The objection will be considered by the Committee. 5. If in the opinion of the judge or judges the exhibits in any class are of insufficient merit, the Committee reserves the right to withhold the whole or any part of the prize money. 6. All entries must be made in writing and delivered no later than as stated in your relevant section. 7. The Committee reserves to itself the right to refuse or reject any entry without stating the reason for doing so and to cancel any class or group of classes not less than three days before the date of the Show. 20

21 8. The Committee reserves to itself the right to withhold or reduce the scheduled prize money in the event of there being insufficient number of exhibitors or is so recommended by the judge. 9. Any exhibitor who does not comply with the rules of the Society or these conditions shall be debarred from exhibiting and may at the discretion of the Committee forfeit all prize money won. 10. All horses must be properly haltered and secured to the satisfaction of the stewards. The Society, its Officers or Stewards will not be responsible for any errors or mistakes that may occur in the placing, penning or securing of exhibits. 11. Any person riding a horse/pony anywhere on the showground is required to wear a hard hat of a standard approved by their appropriate governing body. No horse/pony is to be ridden or led through the showground except on designated horse walks/areas. 12. A fall of horse/pony or rider during any class will result in elimination. The rider must NOT remount in the ring and should see a medically qualified attendant before remounting. 13. All exhibitors and their servants in charge of stock will be subject to the orders of the stewards, and any such person disobeying such orders may be expelled from the Show Yard. 14. No diseased animal will be allowed to enter the Show Field. The Society s Veterinary Surgeon to be the sole judge. The certificate of the Veterinary Inspector, whether as to age or soundness, shall be required only in cases where the judges are in doubt, or where the stewards consider it necessary. The decision of the Inspector in such cases, shall be final and conclusive. 15. The Society will not in any case or under any circumstances hold itself responsible for any loss, damage, mis-delivery, illness or accident that may occur through or to any exhibit or person from any cause whatsoever and it shall be a condition of entry that each exhibitor shall hold the Society harmless and indemnify it against legal proceedings arising from any of the above- named circumstances. 16. No person shall enter any of the rings, enclosures or tents during the time judging is proceeding, except the Secretary s Steward properly appointed to assist the judges in such ring, and the attendants in charge of the animals being judged and no person shall have communication; on with the judges except the Secretaries and such Stewards. All exhibitors acting in opposition to this condition shall forfeit such premiums as may be awarded to them and the Stewards shall report to the Committee any infringement of this condition. 17. A number label will be allotted by the Secretary to each exhibitor and such number shall be displayed when the animal is exhibited. 18. Should any question arise as to the construction or applicability of any rules of these conditions, or any other matter requiring urgent decision, on the day of the Show, the same shall be decided by the Committee, consisting of the Director, the Assistant Director, the Chairman, the Secretary/Secretaries and the Hon. Solicitor and the Chief Steward of the Section concerned. 19. Any animal shown in the Brood Mare Class must have produced a live foal in the current year or a veterinary surgeon s certificate to that effect must be produced to the Secretary or Secretaries. 20. An exhibitor on winning and receiving a trophy shall sign for the trophy and be responsible for its safe keeping. The trophy must be returned to the Society (unless won outright) not later than one month before the following show. Return of the trophy should be in person or with proof of posting receipt. 21. In these rules the Committee referred to shall be the Committee constituted in accordance with Rule 1. THIRD PARTY LIABILITY The Society, its Officers or Servants, shall not be responsible to any person whatsoever while on the Society s premises or while entering or leaving same, for any damage or loss however caused, to the property of any such person or for any injury fatal or otherwise to any such person. The Society, its Officers or Servants shall not be responsible for any accident, damage or loss, however caused, that may occur to any exhibitor or his servant, or to any animal, article or property, brought into the Showground, or while entering or leaving or being carried into or out of the said Showground. Each exhibitor shall be solely responsible for any loss, injury or damage that may be done to or occasioned by, or arising from any animal, article or property exhibited or brought on to the Showground by him, and he shall indemnify and hold harmless the Society from and against all actions, suits, expenses and claims on account of or in respect of any such damage or injury which may be caused or occasioned. 21
