Reminder of the Month Payments to Members for Services Is Not Permitted: Under the terms of the 501-C3 regulations, the Chapter is permitted to reimburse its members for actual expenses incurred, but is not permitted to pay them for services to the chapter. Monthly Shoot News The center fire pistol shoot was well attended. There were 15 shooters and 3 others. John Nelson scored, Scott called the line and Larry grilled. Lots of shots were placed in the black but John Kerekes won with a 99-7x. This is John s second win. Figure 1 Relay One On the Line March 27, 2017 Volume 26 Number 3, Page 2
3 were working with Tom and Ron. The rest worked on the rifle and pistol ranges. Figure 2 - Relay Two During the Prep Phase Figure 5 - New Backers, Installed with a Level Thanks to Nate Heiner for the donated plywood that was used as backers. Much appreciated. Figure 3 - John Takes Home the Steaks Next up: There will be a rimfire rifle Tic-Tac-Toe shoot on April 29 at 9:00. Tic-Tac-Toe boards will be shot at 50 yards. Property, Rifle and Pistol Workday The work day on the rifle and pistol ranges had 24 people attending. Trees were cut, target numbers were installed, brush was cleared, new backers were installed and a general cleanup was performed. Work on the pistol pavilion was performed to remove some of the panels. This will allow a bit more light in. Figure 6 - New 300 Yard Target Numbers Club Property This article is on a personal note and is NOT addressed to everyone. As noted in the previous article, new target numbers were installed. Some were installed a few months ago. I put tons of work into making nice visible numbers. I purchased and donated the material. I purchased a special router bit. I used my tools. I spent hours in a cold shop. And then I installed the numbers. The pictures show the sequence to make the numbers. Figure 4 - Weed Whacking on the Tom did some property work to fix up the building. And Ron did some work around the clubhouse. Four folks And then some idiot shoots up the numbers. Take a look at Figure 7. This is destruction of club property. This wasn t the only number with holes. I understand that there are random flyers when shooting and equipment gets holes in it. If these shots were not deliberate then you need to get some basic instruction and work on your shooting skills. If they were deliberate then may the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits. 4 Figure 9 - Great Concentration Figure 7 - Seven Holes in the First Month I replaced the #1 number at the 100 yard targets during the work day. 10 days later the new number already has holes in it. Save Our Streams A meeting was held with James Becker on Looking to identify 10 locations to monitor. Kits are needed and will cost about $400. Boundary Walk A boundary walk was performed. Blue and orange blazes have been placed to mark the property line. Nice job. Skeet Field The new skeet field had new Chairmen. Light poles have been worked on and four doors have been hung with two more to go. The four trap machines have been checked and are working. Archery "Explore Archery" is a program of USA Archery, the certifying body for our instructors. It is NOT associated with girl scouts (but you can be one). It's a beginner's program with games to sharpen skills. A Girl Scout Brownie troop was hosted indoors in March when the wind chill was in the teens. See the pictures. NRA Museum Tour Seventeen people had a great time at the NRA museum. We carpooled in a couple of vans and met new people. The collection is extensive and broad. Most of us went downstairs to take a look at the indoor range. No road trip is complete without food. Willard s Barbeque served us lunch.
