3 Presidents Comments by Steve Kennedy First of all I want to thank Dwight and Linda for a great past two years leading the club through many fun events. The Heritage Eagle Bend Golf Club was a great venue for the Christmas Party. MoDaZz, courtesy of Brent McGibbon, provided great entertainment for the evening. Everyone had a nice dinner, a fun gift exchange and even some time for dancing. The Open and One Steal for the gift exchange seems to be working very well. It keeps the evening moving along without making it too long. We are looking forward to the upcoming year and all the fun events we will have. Bill Beeson and Gordon Kenney are looking into a few garage tours. March 31st will be the President s Dinner at the Wellshire Inn. It was a great location for last year s President s Dinner and will be again. If you have any ideas for events, please let me or any board member know. We only have about a dozen of the RMJC 50th Year Anniversary Badges so if you want one, be sure to contact me or Deanie. We are still looking for someone to host the Spring Dust-off. If you have any ideas, please contact me or Bob G. I am looking forward to working with the new board members, many continuing from past years, and some new members. Steve Clock Photos Clocks with the photo you supply for $25. You need to have the photo in Portrait format, long ways top to bottom. The Jaguar - Panasonic entry is called the I-TYPE 2 and for the third season will again be driven by Mitch Evans. We will update you throughout the year on the progress of this entry. editor Cat Tales Page 5 rockymountainjaguarclub.org

Visitors at the board meeting: L-R around Betsy B., Shirley K., Jean O., Linda E., Judy G., Mike R., and Brian R. Editors observation: The Kennedys again had their house beautifully decorated inside and out. And Deanie, with contributions from others, provided a delicious dinner. 8 The Holiday Party of Dec. 9th, 2017 by Dwight Eisnach A beautifully decorated ballroom at the Heritage Eagle Bend Golf Club in Aurora was the scene of the 2017 annual RMJC Holiday Party. It was celebrated by 42 members who enjoyed cocktails, dinner, the Secret Santa gift exchange, the transition to a new President, and many couples who danced until their feet hurt. Dwight Eisnach, president for 2016 and 2017, turned over the gavel to 2018 president Steve Kennedy, who will serve the club in that capacity for the third time in the Kennedys three decades of service and membership. Before relinquishing the reins, Dwight recognized several members for their contributions to the club during 2017 including Frank and Jean Oakley, Vince and Barb Lane, Jackie and Brian Redrupp, Bill and Betsy Beeson, Bob Grossman, Gordon and Shirley Kenney, Brent McGibbon, Mike and Deb Ramirez, Don Leach and Steve and Deanie Kennedy. Although they were unable to attend, Dave and Patti Reed, and Gary and Judy George should be recognized for their 2017 contributions that bettered the club in the past year. Most of the new board were present: L-R Bill B., Dwight E., Deb R., Frank O., Deanie K., Jackie R., Steve K., Vince L., Brent M., Gordon K., and Bob G. Cat Tales Page 8 rockymountainjaguarclub.org

9 Holiday Party, page two In all, it was a memorable evening as the Denver jazz band MoDaZz serenaded members for the second year in a row during cocktails and after the program. Their appearance, as before, was made possible by the generosity of Brent McGibbon. The evening was a great chance for very active members to renew friendships with members who come to fewer events during the year, as Christmas brings many together to celebrate the season. Steve and Jennifer received such hats and posed for a photo op before any stealing could occur. Brian Redrupp stole a very large and impressive photo montage of Jaguar cars from Deb Ramirez. Alex Rubin stole a crystal Jaguar E-Type from Don Leach, who had the gentlemanly grace to point out the fine detail of the model to Alex even as it was being lifted from his hands. Good show, Don, your stiff upper lip was in evidence showing your class and good nature! The Secret Santa gift exchange was emceed by Deanie Kennedy, Jackie Redrupp and Jean Oakley. As usual, there were many surprises and laughs that unfolded as gifts were opened, with some being stolen before coming to rest. There were several bottles of delicious libations that changed hands before coming to rest, and several Jaguar chapeaus that adorned the heads of members before finding a permanent owner. As has become a tradition, Deb Ramirez provided extra table decorations by creating candy cane candles, two for each table, which were awarded to diners who had a Christmas ornament adorning their water glass. Thank you, Deb, for your generous holiday spirit! It was a successful evening in a beautiful venue and members went home happy and ready to spend the rest of December with family and friends. 14 Electric Vehicles (EV s) are here! * by Gordon Kenney U.S. Sales of EV s Jan through Nov 2017 Jaguar to begin sales of the electric I-Pace in 2018 The table at left shows sales of Electric Vehicles (EV s) in the U.S. for the first 11 months of It lists 41 different models from 16 manufacturers. The 6 top models each selling more than 10,000 vehicles totaled 108,226 or 87% of all EV sales. The major players are Tesla, GM, Toyota and Nissan. Most manufacturers are planning to introduce additional EV models in 2018 and Jaguar will be one of them with the I-Pace expected to be sold in the 2nd half of These figures show that the I-Pace will be entering a marketplace that presents consumers with many choices. For reference, Jaguar sold about 20,000 of the F-Pace and 5,000 of the F-Type in However, the EV competition for models priced $75,000 and higher is much smaller and this could work to Jaguars advantage. In this listing of the top selling 6 models, only the Tesla Models S and X sell for more than $50,000 while the majority of models in this list sell for less than $40K and some for $30K or less. There will be two special events that will affect the marketplace in One is the expected ramp-up in production of the Tesla Model 3 in large numbers to fill the backlog of more than 250,000 of Tesla customers who have placed a deposit. Note in this list the Tesla 3 shows only 712 EV s sold and this could easily be 20 times higher next year (or Tesla could fail as a company as some have predicted). The other factor is the $7,500 tax credit made available in a law signed by President Bush many years ago. It provides a credit to buyers of the first 200,000 EV s made by each manufacturer. Tesla and GM will likely reach this 200,000 benchmark in 2018 and this credit will fade away. Some predict the loss of this tax credit will depress sales significantly. Off-setting this is the fact that battery costs, a major factor in EV pricing, has been dropping steadily and this is lowering the sticker price of EV s. *EV sales are only about 1% of vehicle sales in the U.S. and it will take many years before they become a majority of sales and decades longer to be a majority of vehicles on the road. Note that most autonomous cars being developed are electric. Cat Tales Page 14 rockymountainjaguarclub.org
