3 October Presidents letter by Steve Kennedy Summer is over for the most part. We had a bit of rain right after the Conclave. Did you ever notice that right around Conclave time every year we get a minor storm of some kind? One year we even had snow the day after the Conclave. This year we had 40 Jaguars on the field. There were a few non-club Jaguars on the field and quite a few club cars. Roxanne from the new Jaguar-Land Rover dealership brought one of their new cars. Everyone had a great time visiting with her. Hopefully we will see her at other events as well. Photos are elsewhere in the newsletter but the Grand Opening for the Flatirons Jaguar Land Rover Dealership was well attended by club members and many others. There were well over a hundred people in attendance. Their showroom is wonderful and the service area is spectacular to say the least. With tiled floors and all new equipment, I m sure they will turn out quality work. I would like to encourage everyone to support this new dealership. The International Jaguar Festival, IJF, will start on Wednesday, October 31 st with a tour of the Peterson Museum in LA. Thursday is the JCNA slalom at the Solvang Airport. Thursday evening is the Welcome Reception. Friday is the concours on the Greens at the Santa Barbara Hilton. Saturday is the Monte Carlo Rally and Sunday is the Farewell Brunch at the Hilton Beachfront. The deadline for registration is October 13th. You can go to jcna.com and follow the links to register. The Christmas Party will be here before we know it. It will be at the Eagle Bend Golf Club, where it was last year. Deanie is working on prices. Brent has said MoDaZZ will provide the entertainment, thanks Brent. Harry Figley will provide the program for October. If you have something you think will be of interest, or have been on a recent trip and have photos you think will be of interest, please let either Gordon or Steve know. Stevinson s New Location Stevinson Imports has moved to their new temporary location on Littleton Blvd, just east of Broadway. It s only about 2 blocks from their old location. They will be here until their new building is built in Golden and that will be around 2 years away. Cat Tales Page 3 rockymountainjaguarclub.org

5 Report of the July 4 th Evergreen Music Festival by Gordon Kenney The July 4 th Music in Evergreen festival had more than a dozen English cars on the grass during the day long event. The Jaguars shown were a XK Convertible, a right-hand drive Mk 2 saloon, a XJS coupe and the XJ8 VDP saloon of Don Leach. Photos and story line provided by Don Leach Report of the Aug. 8 th Scottish Highlands Festival by Gordon Kenney In years past the annual Scottish Highland games were held in Highland Ranch. It was usual for 8 to 10 Jaguars from our club to join with other British car owners and parade all 40 to 50 cars into the field for one of the best English events of the year. Then the event was moved to Aspen but was poorly attended by our members. This year it was moved to Citizens Park in Edgewater and Alan Magnuson coordinated the event. He had come to a Piccolos meeting to promote it. Display space was limited and there were only about 2 dozen English cars shown. A short video showing all the cars can be seen at The show was a success and we can look forward to it next year and get some of our Jaguars in the show. These photos show the 1954 XK 120 DHC of Jim and Cindy Hegy and the Mk L Saloon of Karl Johnson; the other Jaguar on display was a white XJ Saloon with the license place JOROYSE. Janet Guthrie video available Earlier this summer Bob Grossman took his XK 140 to the Aspen race track where it was used in the filming of a 20 minute special report about Janet Gutherie. She often raced a similar Jaguar on that track during her long racing career. The report was shown on the NASCAR TV channel but is available as a U-Tube at (ask Bob about details) Cat Tales Page 5 rockymountainjaguarclub.org
6 Report of Vail Classic, Sept 6-8, by Mike Ramirez Deb and I have attended this car show for the past four years, and have thoroughly enjoyed this event. This show benefited the Vail Veterans Project and Senior Eagle Life. Although, we have only attended the activities on Saturday and Sunday, the event begins on Thursday with a meet and greet activity on Thursday, and a Mountain Tour on Friday. Saturday, approximately 200 cars were staged at the Vail Jet Center, along with airplanes, aircraft and motor cycles for the Wheels and Wings Festival. The day included a spectacular air show and an auto auction. Jaguar was the highlighted automobile this year. In the past, there has been a great turnout of Jags. Unfortunately, this year there were only seven cats. We were fortunate to place first in our class. The event concluded on Sunday with the staging of 75 or so automobiles in Vail Village. A beautiful venue to end the weekend. Cat Tales Page 6 rockymountainjaguarclub.org

Mark is big fan of professional soccer and an even bigger fan of the British team from the city of Leeds. He traveled to the United Kingdom this spring to catch some of the games and enjoy the sites. Mark s presentation included several photos and narrative of many of the sights in and around Leeds. While he was there, he also watched a lot of the British Touring Cars series and shared photos of the variety of race cars involved. An interesting note of the trip was from his stay in the town of Morley, which was the site for the manufacture of firearms for both the Union and Confederate sides of the American Civil War. Many of Mark s photos showed the contrast between modern technology and classic architecture that one sees in England. Thank you, Mark for sharing your experiences. The evening was concluded with birthday cake and the club raffle. Deb R won ½ the Raffle pot. Other winners included; Marty C, Betsy B, Gordon K, Brent M, Mark K, Mike R, and Roger N The meeting was adjourned at 8:09pm Cat Tales Page 9 rockymountainjaguarclub.org

14 Collector Car Council of Colorado CCCC Meeting Minutes of Meeting, 5 September 2018 Air & Ground Show, Rocky Mountain Metro Airport (August 4 th ): We sincerely appreciate the help provided by volunteers from many clubs. Dick Thompson reviewed our involvement with the airport show that drew about 17,000 spectators. RMMA management was very pleased with the air shows, the response from the public and with our assistance. CCCC organized the car show and swap meet, in addition to providing car parking lot management. The financial summary was disappointing but not unexpected for a first time event. Parking was planned for 10 lots but law enforcement sent many visitors to an outlying free lot in anticipation of traffic backups. This seriously reduced income we expected from parking management. The swap meet was unable to contact potential venders as early as might be hoped. We have learned from this experience and can make changes to improve future results. RMMA does not anticipate having an air show in 2019, holding these events instead every two years. Nevertheless, they would welcome CCCC holding a car show and swap meet in 2019 and this can provide continuity for our events.
