4 KANNAPOLIS: Approximately 20 miles northeast of the City of Charlotte, Kannapolis is located in the counties of Cabarrus and Rowan. The name, Kannapolis, comes from Cannon Mills Corporation with early variations of the name being Cannon-opolis or Cannapolis.
