We are quite certain that your players, coaches, family members and friends will greatly enjoy the Ripken complex, as well as all of the amenities that Myrtle Beach, South Carolina has to offer. We highly recommend sharing this info with your family, so they are fully informed of the league policies & general information. 5 GENERAL INFORMATION NO ALCOHOL OR TOBACCO PRODUCTS Absolutely no alcohol or tobacco products will be permitted inside The Ripken Experience Complex. Failure to comply with this regulation will result in being asked to leave the complex. GUM/SUNFLOWER SEEDS Gum and Sunflower Seeds are not permitted in the dugouts or on the fields at The Ripken Experience. BIG LEAGUE GRILL/CONCESSIONS The Ripken Experience offers a variety of food and beverage options for your convenience. The Big League Grill in the main building is a great place to grab some hot food including hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, pretzels, chicken tenders and more. PRO SHOP/MERCHANDISE The Ripken Experience merchandise will be on sale throughout the summer. The pro shop will carry a limited amount of Summer Collegiate League t-shirts. Enclosed is a pre-order t-shirt form. BASEBALLS/EQUIPMENT Game balls will be provided by The Ripken Experience for all games. Teams are also provided a bucket of practice balls. Other team equipment provided by the Ripken Experience includes batting helmets, coaching helmets, 3 wood composite bats, fungo bat, and team equipment bag. Ripken will provide a cooler in each dugout with ice water and cups for each game. Gatorade products will also be provided. UNIFORMS/APPAREL Players and Coaches of The Ripken Experience Summer Collegiate League will be provided Under Armour apparel which includes: two jerseys (home & away), fitted baseball hat, socks and belt. Players and Coaches are required to bring two pairs of baseball pants (white & grey). PARKING There is plenty of FREE parking available for all visitors at The Ripken Experience. ADMISSION There will be NO GATE FEE for any of our events! We encourage family and friends to come to the complex to cheer on the athletes and show their support. PRACTICES Practice (outside of the initial team practice on May 30th) is at the discretion of the team s head coach. Players are welcome to use The Ripken Experience training islands, and/or batting cages. Coaches will be advised of training island schedule at the team s first practice. JOB POSTINGS For those looking to work during the summer. A listing of local area part-time job opportunities (through Ripken sponsors) will be made available to players at the arrival day Welcome Event on May 29th. 5

6 2018 SUMMER COLLEGIATE LEAGUE RULES NCAA baseball rules are in effect for all games. All practices will be 2 hours. All Games will be 9 innings, with the exception of doubleheaders, which will be 7 innings. The 10 run rule will be in effect (After 7 innings, 6½ if the home team is ahead for 9 inning games, and after 5 innings, 4½ if the home team is ahead for 7 inning games). The grounds crew will get 10 minutes to prepare the field for the game. Each team will get 10 minutes of infield/outfield providing the weather and schedule dictate. Home team will be listed first on the master schedule, and occupy the 1st base dugout. See below for rain procedure IMPORTANT: RAIN PROCEDURE Although we cannot guarantee rain-outs will be rescheduled, every effort will be made to make up those games based on availability of fields. Suspended Game: A game that has been stopped at any time because of inclement weather, darkness, or light failure, will be continued from the point of suspension at a date and time to be determined by the site director. Suspended games are official games if 5 innings are completed or if 4 innings have been played and the home team is ahead. RAINEDOUT.COM: TEXT COLLEGELEAGUE TO This will be used as the primary method for disseminating information regarding weather-related delays. You will receive text messages directly to your cell phone regarding schedule updates LIGHTNING POLICY The Ripken Experience utilizes lightning detection devices or programs (or both) that allow for the implementation of a consistent policy regarding the suspension of games. On days/times when a storm is anticipated, lightning detection device or program will be monitored by the staff. When a lightning storm approaches within 8-20 miles, The Ripken Experience staff will continuously monitor the storm activity and prepare for a possible suspension of games. When lightning is detected within 8 miles, all games will be suspended. At that time, players, coaches, and spectators should proceed to the safest possible place. All fields, batting cages, and training areas are closed until the staff clears the complex for play. Games will be resumed once the lightning has moved outside of the 8-mile radius from the complex for a period of 15 minutes. It should be noted that lightning could be visible (usually in the clouds) over 20 miles away. These observations should obviously alert everyone that a storm may be approaching; however, it does not necessitate the suspension of play. 6

7 ACCOMMODATIONS - RIVER OAKS RESORT CHECK-IN TIME - 4PM CHECK OUT TIME - 10AM River Oaks Resort is a Condo Community, rooms tend to be larger than hotel rooms, with more amenities inside. However, they do not come with daily housekeeping, additional toiletries, etc. Some things you may want to bring: additional towels, personal hygiene items such as soap, shampoo, bath tissue, laundry detergent, and general cleaning supplies. Starter supplies will be provided to get you through the first day or two. They include: two rolls of toilet paper, bath soap, trash bags, two dishwasher packs, and coffee. HOW DO I ACCESS WIFI? Not all units are guaranteed to have WiFi, but passwords and network info are located on the router. Typically this is located near the TV in the living room. WHERE CAN I TAKE TRASH? Inside your welcome pack (you will receive this at check-in) is a resort map. Trash areas are located on the map. WHAT IS THE STANDARD LINEN SETUP? Each unit is stocked with four towels and two washcloths per bedroom (ex: two bedroom units receive eight towels and four washcloths). HOW DO I RECEIVE MORE TOWELS/WASHCLOTHS? The majority of our rentals are equipped with washers and dryers, and you will be able to launder your own linens. WHAT TOILETRIES ARE PROVIDED? Each bathroom will get a roll of toilet paper, 2 bars of soap and 1 bottle each of shampoo and lotion. The kitchens will have a roll of paper towels and 2 packs of dishwasher detergent. HOW DO I RECEIVE MORE TOILETRIES? Due to the large area our staff must cover, we cannot guarantee being able to replenish every request for restocking toiletries. There are several area grocery stores within a very short drive, and we suggest guests purchase what they need above the initial setup. WHERE ARE THE AREA POOLS? Pool areas will be marked on the resort map included in your welcome pack you receive at check-in. ARE THESE UNITS PET FRIENDLY? Our properties do not accept pets at this time. ARE THESE UNITS NON-SMOKING? Yes, all our properties are non-smoking. Smoking is permitted outside the units. However, please be mindful of ash and litter caused by cigarette butts. WHO SHOULD I CONTACT WITH AFTER HOURS EMERGENCIES? For emergency maintenance situations (ex: large water leak, heating or A/C failure, electrical failure, non-secure entry) guests should contact our night service at Non-emergency issues should be reported during normal office hours. 7

10 CORE FITNESS CLUB Core Fitness Club will be offering all Ripken Experience Summer Collegiate League players and coaches a membership for the duration of the season (5/29-7/1) for just $20 (*does not include classes or crossfit). 11 College Internship Program (2018 Spring and Summer) The Ripken Experience complex is searching for quality individuals to serve as operations interns at our world-class facility in Myrtle Beach, SC. This internship will provide experience in several different aspects of the operation of the facility. Interns will perform a variety of tasks including: administrative duties, PA announcing games, facility/grounds maintenance, food and beverage duties, and other operational responsibilities. This is a great opportunity for Sport Management majors or anyone interested in working in the sport industry after college.
