Whilst the bowling is our primary focus, we hope that our hospitality will leave only good memories of this momentous occasion. We are proud to announce that the website will carry live scoring throughout the event and the final will be streamed live. In addition, a Facebook page, CTBC2016 and Twitter are in the process of being set-up and will be constantly updated before and during the event. 5 4 P a g e NORTHCLIFF BOWL: Northcliff Bowl is situated in the basement level of Northcliff Corner Shopping Centre on the corner of Beyer s Naude Drive and Milner Avenue, Northcliff, Johannesburg, South Africa. The centre was rebuilt in 2011 especially for the QubicaAMF World Cup. It boasts 24 fully synthetic lanes, a fully functional Pro-Shop and has ball park facilities. In addition, the centre has an in-house coffee shop and a separate bar area. The centre is run on QuibcaAMF equipment, has an automated Conquerer Scoring system and makes use of a Summit S HVO oiling machine. The centre s website is

CTBF Championships (CTBC) 1.1 Frequency Every second (2) year to coincide with the Commonwealth Games and the Commonwealth Youth Games. 1.2 Participants a)teams from affiliated CTBF Federations. b) Teams consist of maximum 4 players, 1 coach and 2 officials/delegates. 1.3 Events a) Six games Singles b) Six games Doubles c) Six games Mixed Doubles d) Six games 4-person Team (until reintroduced into Commonwealth Games programme) e) All Events, consisting of the above 24 games. f) Masters Final:- All Events totals after 24 games (i.e. based on each bowler s accumulated individual scores in all four events) will determine the top 12 male and female bowlers eligible for the Masters final. * The Masters final will be contested in a one game round robin format (12 games including position round) starting from scratch with a bonus of 10 pins for each match won and in case of a tie, five pins to each player. The top 3 players from the round robin will proceed to the stepladder finals. * In the one-game semi-final, 3rd position will play 2nd, and the winner of that match then plays the top seed. There is no repechage in the one-game grand final. * For the Stepladder finals, the left lane will have long oil and the even lane short oil, with the highest placed bowler allowed to choose on which lane to start. 1.4 Tie breaking a) The player or team with the highest score shall be the winner. b) When equal scores (ties) are registered for any of the first three positions in the 4-personTeam, Mixed Doubles, Doubles or Singles events, co-champions shall be declared. There shall be no play off of the tie. Teams or players with equal scores will get the same medals. c) In case of a tie for the first position, the next position will get bronze medal. In case of a triple tie for the first position, all will get gold medals and there will be no other medals. In case of a tie for the second position, no medals will be given for the third position. d) In case of a tie in the Masters final before the position round (after 11 games) between places 2-3, 4-5, 6-7 and so on, the player with the higher position is the one who in the round robin has:

7 6 P a g e - The higher scratch pin fall - Won their match - Won more matches. - The least difference between the highest and lowest game. - The higher game. e) When a tie occurs for the 12th place in All Events total or at the end of the round robin event (for stepladder finals) for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place a one game roll off shall be held. f) If a tie occurs for any position in the stepladder finals a 10th frame shall be bowled to break the tie. If a tie still exists the 10th frame shall be repeated until the tie is broken. 1.5 Medals a) Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be presented to the first, second and third place respectively of each of five events. The winners of the All-Events of each gender will be recognised with a plaque or trophy and not a medal, nor be included in the medals table. This is in line with Commonwealth Games Federation and Olympic guidelines. b) In addition to the medals for the individual players, a medal shall be presented to the national Federation they represent. c) A perpetual Shield (sponsored by the Australian Diamond Company) will also be presented to the country whose athletes accumulate the highest aggregate pinfall of all team members in the Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Mixed-Team Events (that is, 24 games for each athlete). 1.6 Playing Rules These Championships shall be run under World Bowling Playing Rules and in accordance with the Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Federation Statutes. In the case of any discrepancy between these Rules and the terms of the Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Championship Agreement, the latter will prevail. ENTRY FEE The entry fee for members of the official delegation will be US$250 per person and for guests will be US$150 per guest. This will include all lineage fees that form part of the official practice and competition, as well as transportation between the official hotel and bowling centre and official functions that form part of the championship. There will be a US$150 entry fee for accredited media officials. This will entitle them to the same privileges as guests. 8 7 P a g e TOURS Optional tours of Johannesburg will be taking place on Friday 25 November These tours will include at least one nature based outing and one historical site visit. More details about these tours will form part of Bulletin 2. ABOUT SOUTH AFRICA Situated at the southern tip of Africa, South Africa is km² in size and is edged on three sides by nearly 3 000km of coastline, with the Indian Ocean to the east and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. The country is bordered in the north by Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique, and also encloses two independent countries, the kingdoms of Lesotho and Swaziland. South Africa has three capitals: Cape Town (legislative), Pretoria (administrative) and Bloemfontein (judicial). The tourism industry is well established with an exciting sector of emerging entrepreneurs. The country is strong on adventure, sport, nature and wildlife. The last census in 2011 showed a population of about 52-million people, of varying origins, cultures, languages and religions, of which 79,2% are African, 8,9% coloured (a term used in South Africa to describe people of mixed race), 8,9% white, and 2,5% Indian. Just over half the population is female. South Africa is known for its long sunny days, hence the title, Sunny South Africa. Most of the nine provinces (Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape, North West and Western Cape) have summer rainfall, except for the Western Cape, which experiences winter rainfall. South Africa has a well-developed communications infrastructure. A number of cellphone providers offer national coverage and there are well-established landline phone networks. Internet and Wi-Fi are easily accessible in most urban areas. South Africa s national bird is the blue crane. The national animal is the springbok; the national fish, the galjoen; the national flower, the giant or king protea; and the national tree, the yellowwood. South Africa is a multilingual country and there are 11 official languages, namely: English, Afrikaans, isindebele, isixhosa, isizulu, Sepedi, Sesotho, Setswana, Siswati, Tshivenda and Xitsonga. Although only about 10% of the population has English as its mother tongue, English is the language most widely understood, and is the second language of the majority of South Africans. South Africa s three major international airports are OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg); Cape Town International Airport; and King Shaka International Airport (Durban).
