There will be food/drinks for sale at the competition site, there is also shopping mall and restaurants within walking distance of the venue. Best athlete determined by Sinclair points based on absolute body weight Team awarded according to IWF team scoring, male and female combined PARTICIPANT ELIGIBILITY: -An athlete participating in a Western Canadian competition must be; Duly affiliated member of his/her P/T Weightlifting Association A member in good standing with his/her P/T Weightlifting Association A citizen of Canada OR possesses a permanent resident status of Canada -Coaches registered to participate in a Western Canadian competition by a P/T Weightlifting Association must be Level # NCCP certified Coaches, team leaders and technical officials registered to participate in a Western Canadian competition by a P/T Weightlifting Association must be; Duly affiliated member of his/her P/T Weightlifting Association; A member in good standing with his/her P/T Weightlifting AssociationSpeakers and Time keepers must be Category or higher referees Technical operators need no referee qualifications There is a limit of athletes per bodyweight category per team. -Team format: Male 8 male athletes total & Female female athletes total Each P/T weightlifting association may enter up to team per gender. 2 Each P/T weightlifting association may enter up to guest lifters above and beyond their chosen team. If a P/T weightlifting Association wishes to bring more than guest lifters they may make a request and it will be at the discretion of the organizing committee for acceptance. The maximum amount of athletes participating at the 0 Western Canadian Weightlifting Championship will be 8. Additional guest lifters might be accepted. The organizing committee will decide on Wednesday March, 0. Each association president will be contacted if additional lifters can be added past the 8 lifters. Priority will be awarded to lifters with the highest marker registered since October 0,0. If you want to send more then two guest lifters, list the lifters separately on a additional sheet. c/w lifters weight class & best total, marker. Even effort will be made to accommodate lifters trying to qualify for the Sr. Nationals. All questions and concerns regarding eligibility must be addressed at the technical meeting. The competition scale will not be available at the hotel, organizer will attempt to provide a electronic scale at with each P/T to borrow, DOPING: -This competition is subject to in-competition drug testing administered by the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport. All athletes and coaches are strongly encouraged to familiarize themselves with the applicable rules and procedures. 3 - Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded for the Total in each category - Best athlete awards for men and women are determined by Sinclair points based on actual bodyweight of the athlete - Best Team will be awarded based on IWF points (men and women combined) In case of a tie:! The team with the largest number of first place totals shall be declared the winner.if still a tie, the team with the largest number of second place totals shall be declared the winner. If still a tie, the team with the most total Sinclair points using the bodyweight category will be declared winner - A zero in the snatch does not eliminate athletes from the competition. Athletes are allowed to continue in the clean and jerk, but do not receive points for the total. Points are earned in the total only. ACCOMMODATIONS & BANQUET DETAILS: - Canad Inn-Fort Garry, 8 Pembina, Winnipeg, MB ( minute drive to Venue) Site: Room Registration Deadline: February, 0.Please indicate that you are booking at the rate for the Western Canadian Weightlifting The team leaders and participants are responsible for contacting the hotel directly. Standard Accommodations: $9 (single or double occupancy), guest rooms are equipped with queen size beds Payment for accommodations is arranged directly with the Canad Inn The banquet will be held approximately at Canad Inn-Fort Garry, 8 Pembina. Start time to be finalized and announced at the competition TRANSPORTATION: -Flights will arrive in Winnipeg at the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport. - The organizers will be providing transportation: On Friday to the Canad Inn-Fort Garry, 8 Pembina on Friday until PM, with a minimum of two people. - A pick up schedule with pick up instructions will distributed to the associations presidents on Thursday We ask associations please book in groups, We will renting two vans with capacity of seven. - Transport for departures on Sunday will be reviewed at the technical meeting. - Transport will be provided to/from venue form hotel. Technical staff, etc.) for the competition. FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES PROVINCIAL/TERRITORIAL ASSOCIATIONS: - P/T Weightlifting Associations with participating teams are eligible to submit names of technical officials with certified national level (level ) of higher qualifications wishing to officiate at the championships. - If technical officials are interested in upgrading their Officials Certification during the championships, please indicate it on the Entry Form. Please ensure the address and contact information is made available on the contact form of each technical official so that the committee can forward the technical officials schedule. - Each P/T is responsible for the expense of their selected technical officials -All P/T participating in the championship do so at their own risk. The provinces must undertake full moral and financial responsibility for their delegates regarding their health and in the case of accidental damages. ACCREDITATION: - A technical meeting will be held at the Norwood Community Ctr, 8 Walmer St, Winnipeg MB March 8, 0 at :0pm - The technical meeting will consist of the following; Verification of eligibility athletes, coaches, team leaders and technical officials. Verification of final entries into bodyweight categories Final declaration of athletes to their team Lot numbers will be made available; lot numbers are drawn using Microsoft Excel RAND function prior to the technical meeting Sessions and groups will be determined. Updated start times. Competition schedule, and technical officials schedule will be assigned Any other pertinent information will be covered and addressed OFFICIATING: - Auxiliary technical officials are those nominated by the committee and shall include the competition chairpersons, directors, speakers, timekeepers, and technical officials. - Adjudicating technical officials are those nominated by the provinces and shall include referees, jury members and technical officials. AGREEMENT: - We the undersigned agree to accept the conditions in this Competition Regulation as the official protocol agreement between the Western Canadian Provincial Associations (the provinces) and the 0 Western Canadian Weightlifting Championships Committee (the committee) and the Manitoba Weightlifting Association (the host). Norwood Community Ctr Competition Rules And Regulations The most recent IWF Rule Book will govern the competition. All Athletes, Coaches, and officials participating in the 0 Western Canadian Weightlifting Championships, at Norwood Community Ctr (including the warm-up area) must be accredited. In order to be accredited, all individuals must be registered and in good standing with the Provincial Weightlifting Association or their Provincial Sport Organization (PSO). Medical:The contest will be subject to doping control. The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) (the drug testing body in Canada - will perform the tests at their prerogative. Doping Control Station will be the Gym Washrooms. Communications During the Contest MWA Committee will be available on the day of the event to direct questions and concerns. During the Contest: Athletes and/or Coaches will be given a copy of the Start List as soon as possible after each weigh-in. After the Contest A copy of the results package will be available.
