3 Introduction The IPC and the broader Paralympic Movement are looking forward with great anticipation to the London 2012 Paralympic Games. The Paralympic Movement is undergoing dynamic growth and we will no doubt see expanded programmes right across the Games this year. The Games Experience Programme (GEP) is a new initiative of the IPC Academy in order for governments and those involved in the supply chain of the Paralympic Games to understand the complex delivery of such an event. Specifically it aims to deliver a multi stakeholder perspective of Games management by providing unprecedented access to understand and observe specific core operating functions. The GEP is delivered as an integrated learning programme based on the successful Executive Education methodology of the World Academy of Sport, IPC s education partner in establishing the IPC Academy. Standing alongside but distict from the IPC Observers Programme, the GEP allows governments and other stakeholders to immerse themselves in a three day tailored learning programme. the Paralympic Movement is undergoing dynamic growth PAGE 2 PAGE 3

4 THE PROGRAMME Programme Aim Programme Schedule For governments and those involved in the supply chain of the Paralympic Games The core focus of the programme is for delegates to develop a multi stakeholder perspective of Games management by providing unprecedented insights and privileged access. This includes understanding the management process of partner integration for the delivery of key functions. Who Should Attend? The programme is primarily targeted towards national and regional government agencies with a remit to enhance trade and investment through the major event industry. Companies with a sport business portfolio will also greatly benefit from the programme as they will gain valuable insight to further develop their planning processes related to major events. Delegates will be engaged throughout the programme in various activities including: Site visits to main venues, with suitable accreditation providing behind the scenes access to key operational areas Opportunities to meet in person IPC, OCOG and supply chain experts Presentations from IPC Advisors, OCOG Managers, industry experts and key partners including government representatives and providers Informative workshops Networking opportunities with future OCOG staff and government representatives throughout the programme, culminating in an IPC Academy cocktail function that combines the GEP, Observers Programme and Inclusion Summit Day Theme Content Mon 3 Sept Tues 4 Sept Wed 5 Sept An International Perspective Addressing City AND Organisational Challenges Crafting A Sustainable Legacy Programme Registration In order to register on the IPC Academy GEP for the London 2012 Paralympic Games you must complete the IPC Academy GEP registration process ( and also the accreditation application process for the London 2012 Paralympic Games with the IPC. The programme registration fee is VAT and can be made online following registration or via invoice upon request. Should you wish to register more than one delegate, please contact the IPC Academy on info@ipc-academy.org or 44 (0) Programme registration will not be confirmed until cleared funds have been received into the designated bank account 1. Once programme registration and payment details have been confirmed, delegates must complete their accreditation application process as indicated opposite 2. Programme Registration AND Payment IPC Academy ( IPC Accreditation Application Details provided once payment confirmed PROGRAMME AND ACCREDITATION CONFIRMATION Full details of the accreditation application process for the London 2012 Paralympic Games and required documentation will be provided once payment has been completed. 1. Payments are made to World Academy of Sport (UK) Ltd 2. Please note the IPC Academy cannot guarantee that the accreditation application process will be successful. 5 ACCREDITATION Passport and PIAC or appropriate visa Accreditation Application Accreditation and Travel Visas to enter the United Kingdom All delegates in the IPC Academy GEP need to obtain a valid accreditation for London 2012 Paralympic Games in order to attend the programme. Following programme registration and confirmation of payment the delegate will be provided with user access to submit applications and photos online for their accreditation to be approved. The information provided in the Accreditation Application will be used to produce the Paralympic Identity and Accreditation Card (PIAC) for each delegate. The PIAC, which will be sent to delegates prior to their departure, constitutes a document, accompanied by a valid passport, authorising multiple entries for its registered holder into the UK between 30 March 2012 and 8 November 2012 for a maximum period of six months from the first entry. In order for a visa to be automatically processed, delegates information and photo must be submitted to the IPC by 09 May (Please see information below regarding criteria for photo submission). Individuals whose accreditation data arrives after the deadline will not receive a Pre-Valid Card and will need to follow the normal visa procedure to enter and work in the UK. Please visit the UK Border Agency (UKBA) website for more details: policyandlaw/immigrationlaw/immigrationrules/ appendix1/ The acceptable forms of identification for the London 2012 Paralympic Games include the following: NATIONALITY UK European Economic Area (EEA) Countries Outside EEA Countries Switzerland The UK government has taken the decision to ensure biometric data is collected from visa national delegates. Due consideration will be given to whether a visa national has previously provided biometric details. GEP delegates who would normally require a visa to enter the UK but do not hold a valid visa, may travel to the UK with a valid passport and their Pre-Valid Card, which will act as a visa waiver. This waiver will apply from from 30 March 2012 to 08 November The Pre-Valid Card will act as evidence of their status as a Paralympic Games delegate to both airline carriers and the UKBA. On arrival in the UK, delegates in this category will be required to provide their biometrics. Delegates who have an EU passport or identity card or are non-visa nationals (that is, those who do not normally require a visa to enter the UK) are not required to provide biometric data and will follow their normal border entry process. Please note that the UK is not currently a signatory to the Schengen Treaty, which allows borderless passage through signatory countries of the EU. As a result, any delegate who attempts to pass through the border in another EU country will require, where necessary, valid visa documentation. In summary, the Pre-Valid Card will not act as a visa waiver to gain entry into any EU nation other than the UK. Identification type Passport or UK Driving License Passport or National Identity Card Passport and PIAC or appropriate visa Passport or National Identity Card Please Note - All identification documents must be valid until at least 08 November Beginning 13 August 2012, Pre-Valid Card holders will be able to validate their cards at London Heathrow Airport international terminals upon arrival. Pre-Valid Card holders whose privileges and/or information on the card have changed after delivery will be required to go to a primary accreditation centre to get their PIAC issued. Photo Submission Digital images must follow these guidelines: Face forward, looking straight into the camera with eyes open and nothing covering the face Looking natural with no facial expressions, for example, smiling, grinning or frowning Nothing covering the eyes, for example, hair or glasses frames No sunglasses or tinted glasses No hats or anything covering the head unless for medical or religious reasons In colour, not black and white With a plain white or light grey background All accredited delegates must submit their digital photo to the IPC by 09 May 2012 deadline in order to fully complete their registration process and receive their visa entry. 6 OTHER DETAILS Transportation Inclusions and Exclusions Paralympic Hospitality Centre Optional Tours, Transportation and Local Services Questions The PIAC provides delegates with free access to the public transport network London. Please note that the PIAC alone does not provide access to: Paralympic Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies Spectator seating areas Use of local ground transportation provided by LOCOG s transportation department (T3 Service) Airport train and bus services (Heathrow Express, Gatwick Express, Standstead Express, etc.) Delegates will be provided with appropriate access for venue tours along with organised transportation on these days. The GEP has been designed as a comprehensive executive education programme and as such the registration fee includes programme materials, all presentations, transportation for venue tours, access to public transport network, London, lunches and refreshments throughout the programme, London 2012 Paralympic Games accreditation and entrance to the IPC Academy cocktail function. Please note that the IPC does not cover any travel, meals (other than those specified above) or accommodation costs related to your stay in London. Delegates wishing to attend Paralympic events outside the GEP will be required to purchase tickets through the normal channels (details below). The Paralympic Hospitality Centre (PHC) is located in an exclusively dedicated venue at the brand new Holiday Inn Hotel in Stratford City, only steps away from the Olympic Stadium and other Olympic Park venues. The Centre will provide a rewarding hospitality experience for select guests and valued corporate partners offering an environment for informal business dialogue and relaxing entertainment. Delegates will have the opportunity to meet and network with delegates from the IPC Observer s Programme and the IPC Academy Inclusion Summit along with other eminent dignitaries. This event will take place at Lancaster House, a historic residence close to Buckingham Palace and the site of many state receptions. Access to the event is complimentary to delegates on a first come, first served basis as spaces are limited. 1 Medical Insurance While all accredited Paralympic Family members are covered by LOCOG s medical coverage for treatment in Paralympic Family hospitals, we would recommend that you consider taking out additional travel medical insurance that could cover any additional medical services or treatments that may not be included through LOCOG s coverage. Games Tickets Should you wish to purchase tickets for the London 2012 Paralympic Games, please submit your orders through the eventurezone website the IPC s official ticketing agent. Pre-Opening and Pre-Closing Ceremony receptions will also be offered on 29 August and 9 September. Passes for these special events can be purchased through the IPC Hospitality Department. There will also be opportunities for organizations to host their own special events, receptions and private dinners within the PHC.
