2 PAGE 2 THE MAINE DIFFERENCE BULL SALE 2015 Welcome to our 11 th annual sale of maine bulls, our 3 rd as the Maine Difference bull sale at Dryland Cattle Trading Corporation in Veteran, Alberta. Sale time is 1:00pm March 28 th, With prices like we have never seen before this is truly a very exciting and rewarding time to be involved in the cattle business. Bull sales are in full swing with prices at record levels. With the phenomenal prices experienced this past fall and even into this spring on all classes of cattle it is a pleasure to bring a strong set of 2 year old bulls for your offer. You cannot find the volume of 2 year old maine bulls at any other sale in Canada that we have available. By purchasing maine genetics you will be getting traits such as feed efficiency, performance, and lots of hair. Buyers are starting to take note of the maine breed and you will see the top prices paid for those offspring. Whether grassers, feedlot, or cow/calf operator the maine steers are well sought after. The females are hard to find to buy, as anyone raising them doesn t want to part with them. From pasture to the show ring maines are tough to beat. As yearlings, our bulls were turned out on pasture in June and were put in the feedlot in December. They are on a balanced silage based ration and a bull developer pellet from Cargill. The whole pen of bulls have been averaging 3.65 lbs/day. All bulls have been on a full herd health program receiving 7 way with somnnugen, Bovshield Gold, Ivomec as well as fusoguard. All bulls sold will be palpated, semen tested and vet inspected prior to the sale. Please bring your trailer or arrange transportation for your purchase from the sale. Let us know prior to the sale if you need assistance in arranging transportation so we can work with Dryland staff to ensure they are transported to your location in a timely manner. 4 PAGE 4 THE MAINE DIFFERENCE BULL SALE 2015 The terms of the sale are cash of cheque payable at par to Dryland Cattle Trading Corporation (D.C.T.C.) at Veteran, Ab unless credit arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Please call Graham at or Rick at to make arrangements. All monies are in Canadian funds. The right of property shall not pass until settlement is made. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle are released. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer s decision in such matters will be final. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as the animal is sold. Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements. Consignors are in good standing with both the American Maine Anjou Association (A.M.A.A.) and the Canadian Maine Anjou Association (C.M.A.A.). All bulls have been DNA tested for parentage and are able to be registered with the A.M.A.A. or the C.M.A.A. All bulls sold are guaranteed breeders by the owners. We guarantee to provide you with a sound breeding bull. The bulls on offer will have been vet inspected, palpated, and semen tested prior to sale by Dr. David Weeks D.V.M. of the Rangeland Veterinary Clinic. If you have a problem with your bull please notify us immediately. Insurance will be available sale day from Stockman s Insurance. We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value. We will assist in arranging transportation wherever possible. Contact Graham or Rick prior to sale if transporting long distance or out of province in order to make arrangements with D.C.T.C. staff so bulls can be delivered in a timely manner. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. All persons who attend the sale do so at their own risk, and the owners, auctioneer and sale staff assumes no liability, legal or otherwise, for property loss or for any accidents that may occur.
