Earlier this season, Jones also joined the RMU 500-rebound club when he finished with seven boards in RMU s final non-conference tilt of the Alabama (1/4/14). Jones is one of just 13 players in school history to eclipse career totals of 1,000 points and 500 rebounds and, based on his current averages, is slated to finish the season with 1,148 points and 639 rebounds, totals that would rank 16th and seventh, respectively, in the career record book. Mission Accomplished - Many have tried over the years, and many have failed. Yet senior guard Karvel Anderson was the one that came through and established a new RMU singleseason school record that had stood for almost a quarter of a century. Thanks to a trio of three-pointers in a overtime victory over St. Francis Brooklyn (2/22/14), Anderson set a new single-season record for triples and on the year owns 103. That total surpassed the old single-season school record of 93 that was established by former guard Scott Shepherd ( ) during the campaign. In 65 career contests, Anderson has drilled 185 three-pointers, an average of 2.85 per game that would also establish a new career record. Dynamic Duo - While senior guard Karvel Anderson has been RMU s leading scorer so far this season thanks in large part to his ability to convert from beyond the arc, junior forward Lucky Jones has developed into a solid outside shooter, as well. Jones enters the semifinals of the 2014 Northeast Conference ranked eighth in three-point field goals made per game (1.84). The duo of Anderson and Jones has combined for 162 three-pointers, an average of 5.06 per game, which has established a new single-season school record for three-pointers by a Robert Morris tandem. The old record of 156 was established last season by Anderson and former guard Coron Williams ( ). Anderson hit 82 triples in , while Williams connected for 74. Double Nickel On A Dime - Senior guard Anthony Myers-Pate recorded a trio of assists in a Fairleigh Dickinson (2/27/14), helping him move into eighth place all-time at Robert Morris for career dimes. Myers-Pate enters Saturday s game against Saint Francis U. with 436 career assists, the ninth player in school history with 400 career dimes, and so far this season owns 121 assists against 51 turnovers. He ranks third in the NEC in assist-toturnover ratio (2.37) while ranking eighth in the circuit in assists per game (3.78). International Waters - Robert Morris produced a record-breaking season in shooting from beyond the arc in , and the Colonials have picked up right where they left off from a season ago. Through 32 games this season, RMU has converted 238 of its 615 attempts (38.7%) from beyond the arc. Robert Morris enters Saturday s game leading the Northeast Conference in three-point field goal percentage while ranking third in the NEC in three-point field goals made per game (7.44). The Colonials are 29-5 (.853) in four seasons under head coach Andrew Toole when converting at least 10 three-pointers in a game, including 6-2 (.750) in The Club - Senior guard Karvel Anderson became just the second player in school history to eclipse the 30-point plateau in back-to-back games when he turned the trick in RMU s swing through New England to open Northeast Conference play. Anderson finished with a career-high 36 points in a Sacred Heart (1/9/14), followed by 32 points in a Bryant (1/11/14). Anderson joins former Colonial Gene Nabors ( ), who accomplished the feat in the 2000 NEC Tournament in Trenton, N.J., at Sovereign Bank Arena. In the quarterfinals of the 2000 NEC Tournament, Nabors scored 38 points in a win over Saint Francis U. (3/3/00). The next day, Nabors dropped 35 points to lead Robert Morris to an win over Mount St. Mary s (3/4/00) in the semifinals of the NEC Tournament. Defense Wins Championships - At the heart of the resurgence of the Robert Morris basketball program over the last seven seasons has been defense. Thanks to a win over Fairleigh Dickinson (3/5/14) in the quarterfinals of the 2014 Northeast Conference Tournament, RMU improved to (.836) since the beginning of the campaign when holding its opponent to less than 70 points. In four seasons under head coach Andrew Toole, the Colonials are (.807) when turning the trick RMU Basketball NEC Champions: 1982, 1983, 1989, 1990, 1992, 2009, 2010

RMU s Last Game - Robert Morris opened play in the 2014 Northeast Conference Tournament, March 5, with a victory over No. 8 seed Fairleigh Dickinson at the Charles L. Sewall Center. A tight affair all game, sophomore forward Stephan Hawkins gave RMU a advantage with 9:22 to play on a jumper from a feed from junior forward Lucky Jones. Three straight points from Sidney Sanders, Jr., however, pulled Fairleigh Dickinson to within with 8:02 to go, as he hit a jumper and converted one of two attempts at the free-throw line. Jones came back with a three-pointer to push the advantage for Robert Morris to 46-38, and a fastbreak layup from junior guard David Appolon with 6:36 remaining off a steal kept the advantage at eight points for the Colonials, A pair of free throws from Mustafaa Jones for Fairleigh Dickinson would help the Knights trim their deficit to just inside four minutes to play, but a 6-2 spurt over the next three minutes gave Robert Morris its first double-digit advantage, 54-44, with 1:01 left. Freshman guard Kavon Stewart hit a floater in the lane, Lucky Jones hit a pair of free throws and Appolon converted another fastbreak layup. Twice in the final minute of action Fairleigh Dickinson made it a two-possession game, trimming their deficit to six thanks to layups from Mathias Seilund and Sanders, but RMU sealed the win at the free-throw line, finishing 6-for-7 at the stripe in the final 48 seconds. Lucky Jones led all scorers in the contest with 19 points and also recorded seven rebounds, four assists and a steal. He converted seven of his 13 shots from the floor, including 3-for-6 from beyond the arc, and hit both of his attempts at the line. Senior guard Anthony Myers-Pate added 10 points, four rebounds and two steals for Robert Morris, while Hawkins and Appolon each scored eight points. Senior guard Karvel Anderson, the 2014 NEC Player of the Year, played 28 minutes and did not score, finishing 0-for-3 from the field. Through 32 games of the campaign, Anderson and Jones have combined for 1,037 points, eclipsing the record of 1,028 points that former Colonials Myron Walker ( ) and Ricky Cannon ( ) combined for during the season. Anderson enters the 2014 NEC Tournament semifinals with 607 points, while Jones has supplied RMU with 430. Consistency - If there is one thing that 2014 Northeast Conference Player of the Year Karvel Anderson has been over the course of the campaign, it s been consistent. Thanks to a game-high 21 points in RMU s regular-season Wagner (3/1/14), Anderson recorded his 15th game of the year eclipsing the 20-point plateau. That ties an RMU single-season record, which is also held by former Colonials Myron Walker ( ), Gene Nabors ( ) and Maurice Carter ( ). Walker turned the trick twice, first as a sophomore in in leading RMU to the NEC Tournament championship and again as a senior in Nabors reached the 20-point plateau in 15 games as a senior in , while Carter finished with at least 20 points in 15 contests during his sophomore season in Comeback Kids - Robert Morris seemed to have a flair for the dramatic in the waning days of the regular season. RMU enters the semifinals of the 2014 Northeast Conference Tournament having climbed out of a double-digit deficit in the second half in three of their last five games. In a Fairleigh Dickinson (2/27/14), the Colonials erased a 15-point deficit in the second half, 62-47, with 8:34 to play by outscoring the Knights, 22-2, the rest of the game. Robert Morris also climbed out of a 16-point deficit with 17:11 to play to grab a win over LIU Brooklyn (2/20/14) and overcame a 12-point deficit, 43-31, with 17:53 remaining to earn a overtime victory over St. Francis Brooklyn (2/22/14). The win over the Knights marked the 14th time Robert Morris has climbed out of a double-digit deficit to earn a victory in four seasons under head coach Andrew Toole, including the fifth occasion in Protect The Rock - No member of the Colonials has done a better job of protecting the basketball in recent weeks than senior guard Anthony Myers-Pate. As the 2014 Northeast Conference Tournament continues, Myers-Pate has posted 89 assists against just 35 turnovers in his last 24 games, an assist-to-turnover ratio of Myers-Pate is threatening to establish a new RMU single-season record in assist-to-turnover ratio, as he enters Saturday s game against Saint Francis U. ranked third the NEC in the category at The single-season mark of 2.29 was established by former RMU point guard Wade Timmerson ( ) during the campaign. Myers-Pate also ranks second in the Robert Morris career record book for assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.96, trailing only Timmerson (2.02). Grand Concourse - Senior guard Karvel Anderson became the 23rd member of the Robert Morris 1,000-point club in RMU s regular-season Wagner (3/1/14), as his three-pointer at the 18:07 mark of the first half helped him join the fraternity. In 66 career games with the Colonials, Anderson has scored 1,020 points, an average of 15.5 points per contest. Anderson is just the third player in school history to eclipse 1,000 points while playing just two seasons at Robert Morris. The only other Division I player to turn the trick at RMU was former guard Gene Nabors ( ), who scored 1,029 points with the Colonials from 1998 to 2000 after transferring from Louisiana State University (LSU). The first player to accomplish the feat was junior college guard Don Mackey, who scored 1,034 points from 1963 to Rise Up - Senior guard Karvel Anderson continues to the move up the rankings in a number of different top 10 lists in single-season history at Robert Morris this year, and he has a shot of challenging the program s single-season mark for points scored. One of just eight players in school history to eclipse the 500-point plateau in a season, Anderson enters the semifinals of the 2014 Northeast Conference Tournament with 607 points so far in Based on his current scoring average (19.0 ppg), Anderson is on pace to establish a new single-season record in points in the semifinals Saturday against Saint Francis U. He is just seven points shy of the record of 614 points that former guard Myron Walker ( ) scored as a sophomore in RMU Basketball NEC Champions: 1982, 1983, 1989, 1990, 1992, 2009, 2010

Sewall Center, hitting all 10 of his shots from the floor in the victory, including 8-for-8 from beyond the arc. Anderson is the first student-athlete in school history to post a perfect shooting night from the field with as many as 10 field goals. Anderson is also just the second student-athlete in school history to convert eight field goals from beyond the arc without a miss. Former Colonial Scott Shepherd ( ) also finished 8-for-8 from deep in a win over LIU Brooklyn Feb. 8, 1990, at the Sewall Center. 25 In The Beginning - Robert Morris was the first institution to jump directly from the junior college ranks to NCAA Division I. RMU played basketball at the junior college level for 13 seasons from 1963 to 1976, posting a record of (.832) under head coach Gus Krop. Krop led the Colonials to a record of 30-1 (.968) in in its sixth season as a junior college program, with its only loss a setback to Paducah (Ky.) in the national title game. In his time leading Robert Morris, Krop coached nine All-Americans and also recruited Earl Cureton, a native of Detroit, Mich., who played one season with the Colonials when it was a junior college program ( ) as well as the first season of Division I basketball in Half A Century - The campaign marks the 51st season of intercollegiate basketball at Robert Morris. The Colonials compiled an overall record of (.832) in 13 years as a junior college program from 1963 to 1976 and since moving to Division I with the campaign has posted an overall record of (.494). Combined, Robert Morris posted a record of (.572) over its first 50 years as an intercollegiate program from 1963 to In honor of 50 years of intercollegiate basketball, Robert Morris will enshrine the Colonials, the first squad to qualify for the NCAA Tournament, into the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame Feb. 15, The First Superstar - Don Mackey ( ) was the only player in junior college history to score over 1,000 points in his two seasons with the program. A native of Homestead, Pa., Mackey finished his two years with the Colonials by scoring 1,034 points, and his 43 points in a win over Walsh Jan. 30, 1965, still stands as the most points scored in a game by a player in a Robert Morris uniform. He went on to finish his collegiate career at Gannon University and was inducted into the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame Oct. 9, Mackey is one of nine members of the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame from the junior college ranks, which also includes former All-Americans Perry Johnson (1969), Cleveland Edwards (1969) and Ron Hightower (1971 and 1972). The Twirl - Arguably the best basketball player in school history, in his one season at the Division I level in a Robert Morris uniform Earl The Twirl Cureton ( ) averaged 17.2 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in Cureton still owns Robert Morris single-season records for rebounds (274) and rebounding average and is the only player in the program s Division I history to average a double-double. He transferred to the University of Detroit to continue his Division I career and was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the third round of the 1979 NBA Draft. He went on to play 12 seasons in the NBA, earning a pair of championship rings, one with the 76ers in 1983 and the other with the Houston Rockets in Robert Morris Historical Tidbits Who Was Robert Morris? Robert Morris, Jr. (January 20, 1734 May 8, 1806) was a Liverpool-born American merchant and signer of the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation and the United States Constitution. He was elected to the Pennsylvania Assembly, became the Chairman of the Pennsylvania Committee of Safety and was chosen as a delegate to the Second Continental Congress, where he served as chairman of the Secret Committee of Trade and as a member of the Committee of Correspondence. From 1781 to 1784, he served as the powerful Superintendent of Finance, managing the economy of the fledgling United States. As the central civilian in the government, Morris was, next to General George Washington, the most powerful man in America. His successful administration led to the sobriquet, Financier of the Revolution. He was one of Pennsylvania's original pair of U.S. senators, serving from 1789 to A look at his legacy: - A portrait of Morris appeared on U.S. $1000 notes from 1862 to Morris and Roger Sherman were the only two people to sign all three significant founding documents of the United States, the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the U.S. Constitution. - The dollar sign ("$") was in common use among private merchants during the middle of the 18th century. It referred to the two columns draped with scrolls on the Spanish milled dollar, which predated the U.S. Dollar. Morris was the first to use that symbol in official documents. Charter Member - Robert Morris played independently as a Division I program for five seasons before becoming a charter member of the ECAC Metro Conference in 1981, which changed its name to the Northeast Conference in The Colonials have won seven NEC Tournament titles, the most in league history, and have also appeared in the NCAA Tournament seven times. Robert Morris has won back-to-back NEC Tournament titles on three occasions, including the first two championships in 1981 and RMU also claimed back-to-back NEC Tournament titles in 1989 and 1990 and again in 2009 and Dynamic Duo - Led by guards Chipper Harris ( ) and Forest Bay Grant ( ), Robert Morris claimed the first two ECAC Metro Conference Tournament championships in 1981 and In four seasons, Harris and Grant combined for career totals of 3,434 points, 869 rebounds, 991 assists and 782 steals. Harris served as RMU s all-time leading scorer with 1,940 points from the conclusion of his career until 1994 and still owns the Robert Morris career record for steals (450), while Grant is the program s all-time leader in assists (555). The pair helped the ECAC Metro Conference garner its first victory in the NCAA Tournament, as the Colonials upended Georgia Southern, 64-54, in a play-in game at the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio, in the 1983 NCAA Tournament. Harris was enshrined in the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995, followed by Grant in Walk On The Ocean - Former guard Myron Walker ( ) continued RMU s lineage of stellar guards when he arrived on the scene in the fall of 1990 and was a key part of a squad that claimed the program s fifth NEC Tournament championship and berth in the NCAA Tournament. In his second year with the program, Walker scored an RMU single-season school record 614 points en route to being named the 1992 NEC Player of the Year, the only sophomore in league history to earn the honor. Walker, a native of Aliquippa, Pa., went on to become the program s all-time leading scorer with 1,965 points and also owns the single-season record for scoring average (20.1 ppg as a senior in ) and career marks for 20-point scoring games (47) and scoring average (18.7 ppg). Keep On Rockin... Robert Morris played at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky., earlier this season, taking on a No. 1 ranked team for just the second time in program history in the Kentucky Wildcats. Rupp Arena is one of seven arenas that the Colonials have played in that has also featured a concert by Pearl Jam since the band s formation in Also included in the list is the Palace at Auburn Hills (Detroit, Mich.), the Prudential Center (Newark, N.J.), Savage Arena (Toledo, Ohio), the Wolstein Center (Cleveland, Ohio), the Bryce Jordan Center (State College, Pa.) and the A.J. Palumbo Center (Pittsburgh, Pa.), home of the Duquesne Dukes. NCAA Tournament: 1982, 1983, 1989, 1990, 1992, 2009, 2010 NIT: 2008, 2013 CIT: 2012
