It has earned three NIT bids (1999, 2005, 2006) and four to the NCAA Tournament (1976, 1977, 2000, 2001). Hofstra is hosting its first-ever Division I postseason game. It enters the Postseason NIT with the nation s second-longest home winning streak at 20 games. Hofstra s current 24 wins ties for the second-highest total in the school s 33 years at the Division I level. Sophomore guard Antoine Agudio enters the NIT tied for his own school record for three-pointers in a season with 82. He is also 40 points from becoming the first player in school history to reach 1,000 points as a sophomore. Junior guard Loren Stokes (517 points) and sophomore guard Antoine Agudio (508 points) are the first Hofstra teammates to have 500 points in the same season. Junior guard Loren Stokes was the runner-up for the CAA Player of the Year Award for the second year in a row. Junior guard Carlos Rivera and junior guard Loren Stokes were both named to the CAA All-Tournament team last weekend. Rivera matched his career high with 25 points in a semifinal win over George Mason, while Stokes scored 26 in the championship game loss to UNC Wilmington. Hofstra is one of only four teams in the nation to have five players score at least 25 points in a game this year. The Pride had more wins (24) than any other team left out of the NCAA Tournament. Hofstra s three guards (Loren Stokes, Antoine Agudio, Carlos Rivera) averaged a combined 51.7 points in the CAA Tournament. Senior forward Adrian Uter has 55 blocked shots this season, fourth all-time at Hofstra and just 10 shy of the school record for blocks in a season HOFSTRA SCHEDULE/RESULTS November 19 FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL W at Notre Dame L at St. John s W December 1 BINGHAMTON W DELAWARE W at Virginia Commonwealth L STONY BROOK W vs. Dartmouth (at MSG) W at St. Francis (N.Y.) Agudio s 34 points eclipsed his previous high of 30 set in a February 4 win over Delaware. Agudio got hot right from the opening tap, hitting three three-pointers in the first three minutes of the game, helping the Pride jump out to a 10-0 lead. It was the fifth time this season that Hofstra has started a game with at least a 10-0 run, and the first since a Jan. 5 win over James Madison. Hofstra maintained a halftime lead, but had to withstand foul trouble to senior center Adrian Uter (Queens, NY) who picked up his fourth foul with 18:02 left and then fouled out 5:23 to play. Junior guard Loren Stokes (Buffalo, NY) also fouled out with 2:37 to play, leaving the Pride shorthanded down the stretch. Hofstra led by as many as 11 points in the second half on three occasions, the last coming at on a tip-in from freshman guard Greg Johnson (Harlem, NY). VCU, though, got the lead down to six points at with 5:23 left on a pair of foul shots from freshman guard Eric Maynor. The lead see-sawed between 6-8 points for the next four minutes, until two Maynor foul shots cut it to with 1:30 left. A three-pointer from senior forward Nick George (28 points, 12 rebounds) got the Rams within with 1:08 to play, and after the Pride made one of two foul shots, the Rams had two chances to cut it to one. A Maynor jumper cut the lead to 68-66, but Agudio made both foul shots with 13 seconds left, enabling the Pride to hang on. CAA Semifinal Recap (Hofstra 58, George Mason 49): Junior guard Carlos Rivera (San German, PR) matched his career high with 25 points and added 10 rebounds to lead Hofstra to a win over George Mason on Sunday, March 5 at Richmond Coliseum. Unlike the quarterfinals, when the Pride jumped out to a 10-0 lead over VCU and led wire-to-wire, Hofstra trailed the entire way until taking its first lead on a three-point play from Rivera with 8:37 left in the contest. The Pride trailed at the break, but held George Mason to only 4-23 shooting in the second half (17.4 percent). Rivera s three-point play was part of an 8-0 run that gave Hofstra a lead with 6:33 left. After George Mason pulled within on a lay-up from sophomore forward Will Thomas, Rivera nailed a threepointer in the corner off a pass from junior guard Loren Stokes (Buffalo, NY) to put the Pride ahead with 4:49 left. A floating jumper from Stokes stretched the lead to with 2:26 left, and the Patriots could come no closer than four points the rest of the way. Stokes (Buffalo, NY) added 20 points for the Pride, before leaving the game in the final minute with an injury. Thomas led the Patriots with 17 points. CAA Championship Recap (UNCW 78, Hofstra 67): Junior guard T.J. Carter had 23 points and 13 rebounds, including 12 straight Seahawk points down the stretch, as UNC Wilmington held off a furious second half rally and defeated Hofstra in the Colonial Athletic Association championship game on Monday, March 6 at Richmond Coliseum. Junior guard Loren Stokes (Buffalo, NY) led Hofstra with 26 points, keying a second half run which saw the Pride whittle a 23-point UNC Wilmington lead (53-30) down to three points at with 4:00 left. However, Carter converted on three straight field goal attempts, the last a three-pointer with the shot clock winding down to make the score with 1:22 left and effectively ice the game. The Seahawks shot from the free throw line down the stretch to seal the win. UNC Wilmington also jumped out quickly in the first half, using a 19-3 run to take a 22-5 advantage with 11:44 to go on a three-pointer from junior guard Temi Soyebo. The Seahawks stretched their first half lead up to as many as 20 points at on a three-point play from Carter, but Hofstra went on an 11-0 run to pull within with 43 seconds left in the half on a free throw from junior guard Carlos Rivera (San German, PR). However, senior guard John Goldsberry answered with a three-pointer to give the Seahawks a lead heading into the break. The second half saw the Seahawks once again jump out to a big run, which Carter capped off with a three-pointer to make the score 53-30, UNC Wilmington s largest lead of the game. However, the Pride responded with their backs to the wall in a big way, going on a 24-5 run to pull within with four minutes left. Back-to-back three-pointers from Stokes and Rivera pulled Hofstra within Two minutes later, sophomore guard Antoine Agudio (Huntington Station, NY) buried a three to get the lead back under double digits at with 7:12 left. Senior forward Mitch Laue hit a 17-foot jumper to stop the run, but the Pride scored the next eight points, including five from senior forward Adrian Uter (Queens, NY) to make the score Carter, though, then caught fire at exactly the right time for the Seahawks, hitting a jumper in the paint with 2:51 left and adding an old-fashioned threepoint play with 2:11 remaining to make the score Agudio hit a three-pointer from the left wing with 1:57 left to pull the Pride within 67-63, but Carter s deep three with the shot clock winding down finally thwarted the comeback. Rivera had 16 points, eight rebounds, three assists and no turnovers on the day. Rivera played all 120 minutes in the CAA Tournament without a turnover, tallying nine assists. Agudio added 13 points, and hit two three-pointers, tying his own school record for threepointers in a season with 82. Stokes, Rivera Named All-Tournament: Junior guards Loren Stokes (Buffalo, NY) and Carlos Rivera (San German, PR) were both named to the CAA All- Tournament team after helping the Pride reach the championship game. Stokes averaged a team-high 19.3 points over the three games, including 26 in the championship game loss to UNC Wilmington. Rivera averaged 15.0 points per game, including a career-high tying 25 in the semifinal win over George Mason. Rivera also played all 120 minutes in the CAA Tournament without committing a single turnover. Sophomore guard Antoine Agudio (Huntington Station, NY) also chipped in a career-high 34 points in the quarterfinal win over VCU. The Pride s three guards averaged a combined 51.7 points in the CAA Tournament (Stokes 19.3, Agudio 17.3, Rivera 15.0).

4 Scouting Nebraska: The Cornhuskers come into the game with a record after reaching the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament, where it fell to Kansas. Senior 6-10 forward Wes Wilkinson leads the Cornhuskers in scoring with 12.0 points per game, while senior 6-6 guard Jason Dourisseau is averaging 11.2 points and 7.3 rebounds. Sophomore 6-11 center Aleks Maric is averaging 11.0 points and 8.0 rebounds. Freshman guard Jamel White (8.5 ppg) is a Brooklyn native who attended Grady High School. Nebraska uses its size effectively, as it has outrebounded its opponents by +3.5 per game this season, and has shot 227 more foul shots than its opponents (738 to 511). Nebraska closed the regular season in a slump, losing its last three games, but got a second wind in the Big 12 Tournament, defeating Missouri in the opening round and upsetting nationally ranked Oklahoma in the quarterfinals Hofstra-Nebraska Series: This is the first-ever meeting between Nebraska and Hofstra. The two teams also have played no common opponents this year. Hofstra s last game against a Big 12 team was in the 2000 NCAA Tournament, when it faced Oklahoma State and dropped an decision in Buffalo. Hofstra has four prior trips to the NCAA Division I Tournament, and is making its third Postseason NIT appearnace. Hofstra is still looking for its first ever postseason win, although it has come close in each of its last two appearances. Last year, Hofstra was within three points of St. Joseph s in the final minute in the NIT, but ended up falling In it s last NCAA appearance in 2001, the Pride led for almost the entire first half and held a six point lead with less than 10 minutes to go, but UCLA rallied down the stretch for a win in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament in Greensboro, North Carolina. Freshman guard Antoine Agudio (Huntington Station, NY) was the lone member of the Pride in double figures as he scored 16 points in the contest, while also setting a new school record with his 82nd three-pointer of the season. Neither team was able to generate much offense on the day, as the Pride took the lead into the locker room at on a fast break lay-up from junior guard Gibran Washington (Jacksonville, FL). Hofstra then forged its way to a lead on a fast break lay-up from sophomore guard Loren Stokes (Buffalo, NY) with 15:23 to play. Saint Joseph s, though, answered with a 9-0 run to take the lead back at on a steal and breakaway dunk from reserve guard Abdulai Jalloh. Agudio answered with a running jumper and then a threepointer from the left corner, his 82 nd of the season (a new Hofstra single-season school record), to give the Pride a advantage with 9:45 to go. A three-pointer from junior guard Dwayne Lee evened the score at for the Hawks, and a fast-break three-point play from junior center Dwayne Jones gave Saint Joseph s the lead for good at Two free throws from senior center Wendell Gibson (Far Rockaway, NY) pulled the Pride within 40-39, but Carroll shook free for a three-pointer with 4:26 left to give the Hawks a lead. Agudio answered again with a jump shot, but a lay-up from Carroll and a jumper by Lee gave the Hawks their largest lead at with 2:22 to go. Agudio s fast break lay-up pulled Hofstra within with 53 seconds left, but Carroll was fouled off the ball and made two foul shots to stretch the lead to five and the Pride could come no closer. Stokes was held below double figures for only the second time in with eight points, to go along with seven rebounds and four assists. Gibson had seven points and nine rebounds in his final game with the Pride, while fellow senior Michael Radziejewski (Jackson Heights, NY) had six points and four rebounds in his final game.

5 Hofstra In The CAA Tournament: The Pride has a 6-5 all-time record in the CAA Tournament after going 2-1 this season. Hofstra has won at least one game in four of its five trips to the CAA s, with the only exception a quarterfinal loss to Old Dominion in This year marked the Pride s first appearance in the championship game after reaching the semifinals for the third time. Hofstra also tends to overachieve in the postseason. The Pride has upset a higher seed in the CAA Tournament five times, but has never been beaten by a lower seed. That team had seven seniors on it, though, leaving Hofstra without a senior on the entire roster as it ventured into a new conference. The Pride s inaugural season in the CAA saw it finish tenth at 5-13 in conference play, although it reached the semifinals of the CAA Tournament. The following year saw the Pride improve to 6-12 in league play (ninth place), while the campaign saw Hofstra surge above.500 to a 10-8 finish, good for fifth place. Last year, the Pride s CAA record jumped to 12-6, tying it for fourth place, while this year s team finished 14-4, improving to a third-place finish. Hofstra s Conference Records - CAA Year CAA Record Finish Overall Rec rd th th th th A Balanced Attack: Hofstra is one of only four teams in the nation which has had five different players score 25 or more points in a game this season. Senior forward Adrian Uter (Queens, NY) was the last to join the club with 27 points in the Pride s win over Siena on Saturday, Feb. 18, making Hofstra the first team in the country to have five 25-point scorers (Houston, Lamar, and Louisville have since accomplished it). Senior forward Aurimas Kieza (Marijampole, Lithuania) had 25 in a road win over Georgia State on Feb. 9, while junior guard Carlos Rivera (San German, PR) had 25 for the second time this season in the CAA semifinals against George Mason on March 5. Junior guard Loren Stokes (Buffalo, NY) has done it seven times, including 26 in the CAA Championship game on March 6, while sophomore guard Antoine Agudio (Huntington Station, NY) had a season-high 34 in the Pride s quarterfinal win over VCU on March 4, one of four times he has scored at least 25. A year ago, he tied his then-career high with 22 points in a semifinal loss to Old Dominion. In this year s quarterfinals on March 4 against VCU, Agudio set a new career high with 34 points in the Pride s win, which also tied a CAA Tournament record held by three different players. The 34 points were the most for any Hofstra player since former guard Rick Apodaca poured in 34 in a home win over Old Dominion on January 18, 2005.

6 Your Turn: Hofstra s three-man backcourt has had a history of achieving their personal bests in the CAA Tournament. In four straight CAA Tournament games, the Pride had one of its three guards reach his career high in scoring. Junior guard Loren Stokes (Buffalo, NY) had a career high 31 in the Pride s quarterfinal win over Drexel last year, while sophomore guard Antoine Agudio (Huntington Station, NY) followed by tying his career high with 22 points in Hofstra s semifinal loss to Old Dominion. This year, Agudio set a new career high with 34 points in the Pride s quarterfinal win over Virginia Commonwealth, while junior guard Carlos Rivera (San German, PR) tied his career high with 25 in a semifinal win over George Mason. Stokes, Agudio Make Hofstra History: Junior guard Loren Stokes (Buffalo, NY) and sophomore guard Antoine Agudio (Huntington Station, NY) have been going back and forth in the race for the team scoring lead over the last few weeks, with Stokes currently holding a narrow lead (17.2 ppg to 16.9 ppg). Both players went over the 500- point plateau for the season in the CAA final, with Stokes now standing at 517 points and Agudio at 508. It is the first time in Hofstra history that two teammates have had 500 points in the same season. Speedy Claxton and Norman Richardson came close in , but Richardson ended with 487 points. Rich Laurel and Ken Rood also came close in , but Rood fell just shy at 483 points. Stokes, Agudio Honored By CAA: The Pride had two players named to the All-CAA teams, which were announced on March 2. Junior guard Loren Stokes (Buffalo, NY) was named to the first team for the second year in a row, while sophomore guard Antoine Agudio (Huntington Station, NY) was named to the second team (after earning third team honors last year). He was joined on the 20-member All-America team by Jose Juan Barea of Northeastern out of the CAA. Stokes was also named the Colonial Athletic Association MVP by College Insider as well. In The Blood Lines: Hofstra s dynamic backcourt duo of Loren Stokes (Buffalo, NY) and Antoine Agudio (Huntington Station, NY) are not the first members of their respective families to excel at the Division I college level. Stokes older brother Leonard was a four-year standout at Cincinnati, where he once scored 39 points in an NCAA Tournament game against UCLA and was named secondteam All-Conference USA as a senior. Agudio s father, Alex, meanwhile, was a key player on Niagara s 1987 Postseason National Invitation Tournament (NIT) team and still holds the Purple Eagles school record for steals in a season (77). Stokes Moves Into Top 10: Junior guard Loren Stokes (Buffalo, NY) became the 26th player in school history to score 1,000 career points in the Pride s win over Stony Brook on Dec. 14. Stokes now has 1,440 points in his three seasons, ranking him seventh (see below), giving him a chance to become the school s fifth 2,000-point scorer. Agudio Closing In On Milestone: Sophomore guard Antoine Agudio (Huntington Station, NY) is approaching the 1,000 point club, as he enters the NIT with 960 points. He needs 40 to become the first sophomore in school history to score 1,000 points. His 960 points already is the highest total for any sophomore in Hofstra history, eclipsing teammate Loren Stokes previous record of 923 (freshmen became eligible in 1973). 7 Home, Sweet Home: Hofstra s win over Drexel in its regular season finale on Feb. 25 was its 20th in a row at Hofstra Arena. Its last home loss was a defeat to Old Dominion on Jan. 19, The 20-game streak puts the Pride alone in second place in the nation, trailing only Gonzaga s current 40-game streak. Akron 18 Postseason 5. Air Force 17 Postseason Mr. Durability: Junior guard Loren Stokes (Buffalo, NY) has always played with a fearlessness that belies his 6-3, 175-pound frame. This year, though, Stokes has played through a myriad of injuries. He was slowed down in preseason practice with a back injury and then broke his nose just before the regular season started. He has since had a cut over his eye, a tooth knocked loose, and injuries to his wrist, thumb, hip, knee, and ankle. Despite the various injuries, Stokes has still never missed a game in his career, appearing in all 90 games in a Hofstra uniform, including 81 straight starting assignments. Three times this year, injuries have prevented him from finishing a game (at La Salle on Dec. 30, home vs. Drexel on Feb. 23, vs. George Mason on March 5), but he returned to start the next game each time. Agudio Ties Own Record: Sophomore guard Antoine Agudio (Huntington Station, NY) made 82 three-pointers last season, breaking the old school record of 81, which was set by Demetrius Dudley in (see chart below). Agudio hit two three-pointers in the second half of the CAA Championship game against UNC Wilmington on March 6, and has tied his own record heading into the NIT. Agudio shot a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point territory in the Pride s win over Drexel, on his way to 19 points. The performance from beyond the arc was the best for a Hofstra player since former Pride swingman Michael Radziejewski had a 5-for-5 effort in a loss to Drexel on February 5, Agudio shot 56.3 percent on three-pointers (27-48) in February (nine games) to improve to 43.9 percent overall on the season, which ranked him 14 th in the country through Sunday s games. He made his first three shots from beyond the arc against VCU in the CAA quarterfinals to stretch his streak to eight straight, one shy of Radziejewski s school record. A Three-For-All: Only 11 players in Hofstra history had made 100 three-pointers in a career prior to this season, but the list became much more crowded when the Pride had a player make his 100 th three-pointer in three consecutive games. Sophomore guard Antoine Agudio (Huntington Station, NY) became the 12th player in school history to make 100 three-pointers in a career when he knocked down a trey in the first half against La Salle on Friday, Dec. 30. One game later, senior forward Aurimas Kieza (Marijampole, Lithuania) knocked down his 100 th career three-pointer in the Pride s win over James Madison on Jan. 5. Junior guard Carlos Rivera (San German, PR) then joined the club in a Jan. 7 win over Georgia State. Agudio currently has 164 three-pointers, putting him alone in third place as a sophomore, only 28 shy of the school record already. Rivera moved into the top 10 with two threepointers against Drexel on Jan. 28, and now has 133 (alone in seventh place), while Kieza now has 123 three-pointers, tying him for tenth place. George Mason debuted in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll at #25 on Monday, Feb. 20 (it was the first team in the also receiving votes category in the AP poll) and was playing its first game as a nationally ranked team. It was also the first time that the Pride has ever hosted a nationally ranked team in its Division I history. Uter Records 100 th Block: Despite only playing for Hofstra for two seasons after transferring from Broward Community College in Florida, senior forward Adrian Uter (Queens, NY) became only the third player in school history to record 100 career blocks in a Feb. 18 win over Siena. Uter accomplished the feat in his 50 th career game, and now has 115 in his career (in 56 games an average of just over two per contest). 8 Man Of The Block: Senior forward Adrian Uter (Queens, NY) threatened the school record for blocks in a season last year, and is once again in the top five this season. Uter s 60 blocks last winter was the third most in school history, leaving him only five shy of the record held by David Taylor, while his 55 so far this season ranks fourth, 10 shy of Taylor s record. Hofstra Single-Season Block Leaders Name Year Blocks 1) David Taylor ) Roberto Gittens ) Adrian Uter ) Adrian Uter ) Greg Springfield Uter Has Unprecedented Hot Streak: Senior forward Adrian Uter shot 6-for-6 from the floor, all in the first half, in the Pride s win over William & Mary on Feb. 20. Uter also shot in the Pride s win over Siena on Feb. 18, making his last 12 in a row after missing a jumper on the first possession of the game. The 18 straight made field goals is a school record and left him seven shy of the NCAA record held by Ray Voelkel of American, which has stood since Uter missed his first shot against George Mason on Feb. 23 to end the streak at 18, before bouncing back to make his next four. His 6-for-6 effort against William & Mary was also the first perfect shooting day for the Pride (with at least five field goals made) since November of Uter also shot a perfect 5-for-5 in the CAA Tournament, including 3-for-3 in the championship. Making A Difference: There s no question that senior forward Adrian Uter (Queens, NY) has proven to be one of the most indispensable parts of the Hofstra line-up. The St. John s game on November 29 was the first indication of how much he means to the Pride. When he picked up his second foul in the first half, St. John s outscored the Pride Once Uter returned in the second half, it was all Hofstra the rest of the way. Overall, the score was Hofstra with Uter on the floor, and 26-9 St. John s without him. Uter also missed four games with an injury from Jan. 5-14, and his impact on the Pride s defense and rebounding is clearly evident in the statistics. In the 26 games with Uter on the floor, Hofstra has outrebounded its opponents by 3.9 boards per game and held its opponents to just 41.0 percent shooting from the floor. In the four games without him, opponents shot 49.1 percent and outrebounded Hofstra by 7.0 boards per game. The Defense Never Rests: Hofstra held George Mason to only 16 second half points on 4-23 shooting (17.4 percent) in its CAA semifinal win on March 5. It was the second time that the Pride has put on a defensive clinic in the second half of a memorable win. Earlier this year, the Pride held St. John s to only 11 points in the second half of its win on Nov. 29. What makes those two defensive performances even more remarkable is the fact that the Pride relied almost exclusively on its starting five during the second halves of both those games. All five starters played all 20 minutes in the second half of that St. John s contest, while only Antoine Agudio (two minutes) and Loren Stokes (one minute) came out in the second half of the George Mason win. Lithuanian Connection: Hofstra features three players on its roster this season from Lithuania. Senior forward Aurimas Kieza (Marijampole, Lithuania) was the first to join the Pride in after playing his senior season at Florida Air Academy in Melbourne, Florida. He was joined this season by two of his country-mates, as freshman forward Arminas Urbutis (Kaunas, Lithuania) and freshman swingman Zygis Sestokas (Vilnius, Lithuania) came to Hempstead. Urbutis played for two seasons at Montverde Academy in Florida, while Sestokas played at Statesville Christian High School in North Carolina. Kieza graduates this season, but he will be replaced next season by Mantas Leonavicius (Vilnius, Lithuania), who is currently playing at Statesville Christian. Kieza has started every game for the Pride this season, averaging 11.3 points and 7.5 rebounds. Sestokas and Urbutis have consistently been in the rotation and have stepped up at different times this season. Sestokas was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Dec. 19 after scoring 10 points in a home win over Stony Brook and adding six points in a win over Dartmouth at Madison Square Garden. Urbutis, meanwhile, shot 7-of-10 from the free throw line down the stretch to help the Pride defeat Georgia State at home on Jan. 7. Going Streaking: Hofstra had its third six-game win streak of the season heading into the CAA championship game. The Pride has now had a win streak of at least six games five times in the last two years. In the Pride s 33 years at the Division I level, it has had a total of 13 win streaks of at least six games, with five of them coming in the last two seasons. A year ago, the Pride began the season 9-0 (its best ever start at the Division I level) and added a sevengame streak late in the year (the final six regular season games and a CAA quarterfinal win over Drexel). Included in that stretch are consecutive ECAC Holiday Festival titles in 1998 and In fact, Hofstra nearly three-peated at the Holiday Festival, but lost in the 2000 title game to Penn State

9 Starting Fast: Hofstra has shown a rather remarkable propensity this season for jumping out of the gate quickly. Eleven times this season, the Pride has jumped out to a lead of at least seven points in the opening minutes of the game. There have also been five times when it led by at least 10-0 before its opponent could score, including a 10-0 run to start its CAA quarterfinal win over VCU on March 4. Hofstra finished the game with 15 three-pointers, breaking the previous record of 14 set in a road loss at James Madison on Feb. 1, Sophomore guard Antoine Agudio (Huntington Station, NY) hit six three-pointers to tie his career high, one shy of the school record, while junior guard Carlos Rivera (San German, PR) added five. It was only the second time in school history that two Hofstra teammates had hit five three-pointers in the same game. Home Wreckers: Old Dominion has nearly had a perfect record at home in each of the last two seasons, but both times Hofstra has spoiled the unblemished record. A year ago, the Monarchs took a 14-0 home record into its final game at the Constant Center, but the Pride stepped in and spoiled the perfect season with a win. This year, Old Dominion was a perfect 8-0 at home heading into its Jan. 19 game, but the Pride again came away with a win. Old Dominion is now a combined 28-2 at home over the last two seasons, with Hofstra accounting for both losses. Hofstra Earns Third Straight Win Over St. John s: Junior guard Loren Stokes (Buffalo, NY) had 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists and the Hofstra defense held St. John's to only 11 points in the second half as it pulled away for a win Tuesday, Nov. 29 at Carnesecca Arena. St. John s has long been known as the premier college basketball program in the New York metropolitan area, but the Pride has been able to perhaps steal the crown of late. St. John s completely dominated the series in the 1900 s, winning all 19 meetings between the schools. In the 2000 s, though, the Pride has won four of the six meetings, including the last three in a row (all three coming by double-digit margins). Hofstra first broke through in December of 2000, when it captured an win at Nassau Coliseum. St. John s bounced back to win the next two meetings, but Hofstra went into Alumni Hall in and came away with an win, the second-worst loss that the Red Storm has ever suffered at its on-campus facility. The Pride added a win at Hofstra Arena last year, and the win this season. Pride Signs Three In Early Period: The Hofstra Men s Basketball team signed three players in the fall signing period: 6-7 power forward Mantas Leonavicius (Vilnius, Lithuania/Statesville (N.C.) Christian), 6-2 guard Sal Patricio (Queens, NY/Florida Prep), and 6-10 forward Greg Washington (Islip, NY/Winchendon (Mass.) Prep). Mantas Leonavicius is a 6-7 power forward from Vilnius, Lithuania, who is currently playing at Statesville Christian High School in North Carolina. He was high school teammates with current Hofstra swingman Zygis Sestokas at Statesville Christian last year, and also played with Sestokas at Sarunas Marciulionis' sports academy in Lithuania before coming to the United States. Sal Patricio is playing his second season at Florida Prep Academy after previously starring at Bryant High School in Queens. Greg Washington is attending Winchendon Prep after previously playing at Central Islip on Long Island. He was ranked among the top 300 recruits by Hoop Scoop, and represented Suffolk County in the Coaches vs. Cancer All-Star game. Player of the Week Honors: Junior guard Loren Stokes (Buffalo, NY) was named the CAA Player of the Week for the third time this season on Monday, Feb. 27, tying him with Towson s Gary Neal for the highest total in the conference this season. Stokes also won the award a league-high four times last year, when nobody else won it more than twice. He was also named the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Player of the Week on Feb. 27. The Pride has nine different weekly awards from five different people this year (see below). Pecora stepped into the head coaching position in , and Hofstra has improved its Colonial Athletic Association record in each of the last five seasons, including a third-place finish and a 22-5 final regular season record this winter, its second 20- win season in a row. Hofstra ended last season with a 21-9 overall record, and earned a berth in the Postseason NIT. The NIT bid was Hofstra's sixth all-time Division I postseason appearance, an accomplishment which helped Pecora earn the Coach of the Year award from the Basketball Coaches Association of New York (BCANY). He is a 1983 graduate of Adelphi, where he is a member of the school s Athletic Hall of Fame. Tom Pecora Year-By-Year Year Overall CAA Total Odds And Ends: Some strange, unusual, and sometimes relevant facts regarding the Hofstra Men s Basketball program: Defense Tells The Story: Hofstra is 55-2 in the last 57 games when it has held its opponents to less than 60 points (9-0 this season). In a strange coincidence, both losses in that stretch have been in the Postseason NIT, a loss to Saint Joseph s last year and a loss to Rutgers in 1999 the only two NIT appearances in school history. Hofstra has won 65 regular season games in a row when holding opponents below 60. Just Give Us The Damn Ball: Hofstra has won the opening tap a remarkable 26 times in 30 games this season, including 16 in a row heading into the NIT. Two of the four taps it lost were without starting center Adrian Uter, who missed four games with an injury in January. Reigning Over The Empire State: Hofstra is a perfect 16-0 this season in games played in the state of New York. It is 13-0 at home, 1-0 at Madison Square Garden (vs. Dartmouth) and 2-0 in road games in New York (St. John s, St. Francis). Going back to last year, the Pride s Empire State streak is 23 in a row. Just Pretend They Are ALL Blue Hens: Hofstra has shot a combined from the free throw line (88.9 percent) in its two meetings with Delaware this season (21-22 at home, at Delaware). Closing Time: Hofstra is since when leading with 2:00 to play. Two of those four losses came in consecutive home games last year, a Jan. 19 loss to Old Dominion (67-66) and a Jan. 8 loss to Drexel (84-81, OT). Beyond The Arc: Hofstra has made at least one three-pointer in 287 straight games, dating back to a loss at Boston University in The Pride s streak was in jeopardy against Florida International on opening day this season, but Antoine Agudio finally knocked one down with 8:45 to play. Working Overtime: Hofstra is 11-1 in its last 12 overtime games, after defeating Drexel in overtime on Jan. 28. Two of those 11 have been in triple-overtime, including one earlier this season against UNC Wilmington (Jan. 14). Who Figured A Half-Hour Could Matter So Much?: Hofstra has a 24-6 record on the season. Strangely, it is 0-3 this year in 7:30 p.m. games (compared to 12-2 at 7 p.m.). Saved By The Buzzer: Hofstra s Aurimas Kieza accomplished a rare feat under Head Coach Tom Pecora when he made a game-winning buzzer-beater on Feb. 2 vs. Old Dominion. Over Pecora s five seasons, only two meaningful buzzer-beaters have gone in, with a game-winning three-pointer from Carlos Rivera against Columbia in being the other. Overall, Hofstra (2-13) and opponents (0-13) have combined to shoot 2-26 on meaningful buzzer-beaters in the Pecora Era (not even counting desperation shots of 30+ feet). Steal Away: The Pride has won 17 straight games when reaching double figures in steals (including 5-0 so far this season). Lucky Number: It seems that the number 45 has a key role in the Pride s success this season. When it shoots 45 percent or better, it is When it holds opponents below 45 percent shooting, it is also 19-0.

12 Hofstra Regular Season Recaps Game 1 Recap (Hofstra 64, FIU 51): Sophomore guard Antoine Agudio picked up where he left off last season by scoring 17 points as the Hofstra Men's Basketball team overcame a sluggish start to defeat Florida International in its season opener. Agudio, the unanimous Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Year selection, stepped up in the first half after Hofstra fell behind with 7:11 left. He started a 17-2 run to close out the half with a jumper in the lane, and added a driving lay-up and another jumper to pull the Pride within Once Agudio heated up, the rest of the team followed suit. Freshman forward Arminas Urbutis came off the bench to make six straight free throws in the final 2:07 of the half to put the Pride up at intermission. Florida International rallied in the second half to pull in front on a banked-in three-pointer from Johwen Villegas. However, Hofstra used a 12-2 run to take control of the game for good at 42-35, capped off by a three-pointer from Agudio, the first for the Pride after it missed its first 12 shots from behind the arc. Agudio was followed by junior guard Carlos Rivera with 14 points and freshman guard Greg Johnson with 12. Johnson stepped up after junior guard Loren Stokes (Buffalo, NY), a first-team All-CAA selection last year, had foul trouble and finished with four points, only the fourth time he s been held below double figures as a starter (47 games). Senior forward Ivan Almonte led the way for Florida International with 18 points and 10 rebounds, both game highs. Game 2 Recap (Notre Dame 69, Hofstra 50): Junior guard Colin Falls had 19 points and senior guard Chris Quinn had 16 points to lead the Notre Dame Men's Basketball team to a win over Hofstra on Tuesday evening at the Joyce Center. After Hofstra took a lead into the half, Notre Dame came out of the locker room on a mini-spurt to take a lead on a three-pointer from Russell Carter. A lay-up from senior forward Adrian Uter gave Hofstra the back temporarily at 38-37, but the Fighting Irish went on a 9-0 run, keyed by five points from Falls, to take a advantage. Hofstra bounced back to pull within on a basket from sophomore guard Antoine Agudio with 11:33 to play, but Notre Dame then pulled away with a 16-3 run to take a lead with 4:59 to go and cruised from there. Stokes led the Pride with 13 points, while junior guard Carlos Rivera had 11 and Uter had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Agudio was held to eight points, ending his streak of 17 straight games in double figures dating back to last year. Notre Dame outscored the Pride in the second half, as Hofstra shot only 7-31 from the floor (22.6 percent) after intermission. Game 3 Recap (Hofstra 64, St. John s 51): Junior guard Loren Stokes had 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists and the Hofstra defense held St. John's to only 11 points in the second half as it pulled away for a win at Carnesecca Arena. St. John's took its final lead of the game on a putback from junior forward Lamont Hamilton with 8:06 remaining, putting the Red Storm ahead Hofstra, though, did not allow a point the rest of the way as it closed out the game with a 14-0 run. Senior forward Aurimas Kieza gave Hofstra the lead for good with a floating jumper to make the score Junior guard Carlos Rivera followed with a fast break lay-up and a jumper from sophomore guard Antoine Agudio made it with 3:15 to play. St. John's continued to misfire from the perimeter down the stretch, and a Stokes breakaway dunk sealed the win with 1:26 to go. After falling behind at halftime, Hofstra regrouped in the locker room and got back in the game behind Stokes and Agudio, who combined to score the Pride's first 12 points of the second half. Agudio's second three-pointer in the spurt pulled Hofstra within 47-41, and junior guard Carlos Rivera followed with a floating jumper to pull the Pride within Hofstra took its first second-half lead on a tip-in from Kieza, making the score with 9:40 to play. Lamont Hamilton scored on a putback for St. John's to make the score with 8:06 left, but the Pride held the Red Storm without a point the rest of the way. Hofstra held the Red Storm to only 17.2 percent shooting (5-29) in the second half, including 1-16 from three-point territory. Agudio scored 16 points and Rivera finished with 11 as the Pride's three guards combined for 46 of the Pride's 64 points. Hamilton led St. John's with 18 points. Game 4 Recap (Hofstra 69, Binghamton 55): Sophomore guard Antoine Agudio scored 19 points to lead four players in double figures, and senior forward Adrian Uter added a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds as Hofstra captured a win over Binghamton at Hofstra Arena. Junior guard Carlos Rivera chipped in with 13 points and a career-high seven assists, while junior guard Loren Stokes added 10 points. Hofstra led 16-6 early on a three-pointer from freshman guard Zygis Sestokas, but the Bearcats hung tough and pulled to as close as three points at on a lay-up from guard Andre Heard. A pair of Agudio foul shots and a Rivera lay-up pushed the lead back up to six, and the Pride settled for a seven-point lead at the break 37-30, despite the fact that Stokes, Uter and senior forward Aurimas Kieza all played seven minutes or less after picking up two early fouls. The Pride's starting five was finally reunited in the second half, and an early threepointer from Kieza gave the Pride a advantage with 18:57 to play. Game 5 Recap (Hofstra 79, Delaware 65): Sophomore guard Antoine Agudio tied a career high with 22 points to lead Hofstra to a win over Delaware in its CAA opener at Hofstra Arena. Hofstra used a big 16-0 run in the first half to take control of the game, extending a narrow 6-4 lead into a commanding 22-4 advantage at the 10:02 mark on a lay-up from senior forward Adrian Uter. Kieza scored a seasonhigh 17 points and added nine rebounds for the Pride, while junior guard Loren Stokes (Buffalo, NY) chipped in with 16 points. Uter just missed his second straight doubledouble finishing with nine points and 11 rebounds. Senior forward Harding Nana led the way for Delaware with 20 points and seven rebounds.

Game 27 Recap (Hofstra 70, Drexel 68): Senior forward Adrian Uter celebrated Senior Day with 13 points and 11 rebounds as Hofstra held off a late Drexel rally to capture a win in its regular season finale at Hofstra Arena. Hofstra took a seemingly insurmountable lead with 2:57 remaining on the fifth three-pointer from sophomore guard Antoine Agudio. Agudio was 5-for-5 from behind the arc, the best shooting performance from three-point territory since former swingman Michael Radziejewski was 5-for-5 against Drexel on Feb. 2, However, Drexel responded with a 10-0 run and had four shots to take the lead in the final 30 seconds but were unable to convert. Junior guard Dominick Mejia started the rally with a threepointer, his school record 91st three-pointer of the year, breaking the old school mark of 90 held by Phil Goss. Freshman guard Tramayne Hawthorne then hit a jumper in the paint, and capped off the rally with an old-fashioned three-point play on a fast break to make the score with 45 seconds to play. After junior guard Bashir Mason stole the inbounds pass for Drexel, the Dragons had three chances at a go-ahead basket. Mason missed the first shot, got his own rebound, and missed the follow-up. Sophomore forward Frank Elegar then came down with the offensive rebound, but missed a short jump hook, and Uter earned the defensive rebound when the Pride had the arrow on the held ball. Freshman guard Greg Johnson was then fouled on the ensuing inbounds pass and calmly made both foul shots to put the Pride ahead with 12 seconds left. The Pride fouled to prevent a tying three-point attempt with just under four seconds remaining, and Mejia made the first before missing the second on purpose. Drexel came down with the offensive rebound and kicked the ball out to Mason, who had an open look from 23 feet but left it short at the buzzer as the Pride held on for the win. Junior guard Loren Stokes led Hofstra with 20 points in 23 minutes, but was injured with 9:02 to play and did not return. Junior guard Carlos Rivera also fouled out in the final minute, leaving the Pride without two-thirds of its backcourt down the stretch. Elegar led the Dragons with 15 points and seven rebounds, while Mason finished with 14 and Mejia added 12.
