2 Previous Action Items: Gina Wright Secretary s Katherine Lemke League Admin Erika Hockinson- Spande 2016 National Tournament: Bloomington Chamber of Commerce, Entertainment/Meeting Space, Solicit Volunteers o Draft a Letter to be sent to associations/teams Contracts: Bookkeeper, League Admin National Tournament Happy Hour Celebration-October Book Richfield Ice Arena for Fall C2/C3 Warm-Up Handbook-Make Needed Changes to Rules Goalie Clinic-Assign Coaches to Scheduled Dates Team Declaration is August 15 th and Registration Opens September 1st D1 Referee Recap o A summary outlining the decision will be posted to the website The Board Reviewed the Following: o Team Declarations o Rules (Handbook Season) Going back to three penalties and you re out the rest of the game Formalize Injury Reporting-through Commissioners; saved by secretary Clarify Emergency Goalie Rule and Sub-goalie rule Terminology Change: change sub-up to dual-rostering Clarify that players may ONLY dual-roster one level above their primary level Review Forfeit Rule Form: Provide useful forms in the handbook as an appendix Formalize Assessment Process o Scheduling o Survey Results Board will look at hosting the 2017 End of Year Tournament at the Super Rink as long as sponsorship can be secured to cut the cost and that WHAM is guaranteed the front four rinks Reviewed and updated action log WHAM sweatshirts are needed for Terri Loken, Nicki Golbeck, and Chelsea Ray An Assessment for New Players will be held during C2/C3 Warm-Up Tournament Meeting with SportNgin (3.5hrs): Added Features/Options o Drop-down Function

3 Treasurer s Jennifer Bessinger o Apps for Teams/Players o CANNOT lock players into divisions o An upgrade of SportNgin is available for $1,000-$2,000 more mobile access/friendly For $850 (or $7 a team) SportNgin can update the players/teams of the National Tournament Schedule and have a logo/picture associated with each team o USA Hockey has their own software to update game times/scores Requests that teams bring the first referee payment to the Fall Scheduling Meeting The Board agreed to take a deficit in order to provide two, rather than one, referees at Development Scrimmages A Vice- Chelsea Ray B Vice- Beth Chaplin C Vice- Julie Hokeness MN Hockey Women s Director: Nancy Wefler USA Hockey Girls / Women s Liaison: Doug Foster Communications Director: Candi Danek Nothing to further to report Individual Players have chosen to stay with their current WHAM Teams rather than form a B1/B2 Team with their AHA Team o Refer to May Board Meeting Minutes Hockey 101 has a Scrimmage at 6:15 on 7/14 o An Assessment will be conducted at the scrimmage for new players o Cathi Rude and Julie Hokeness will be in attendance o A list of 101B Players is needed, so they re not assessed C3 Team Update: There are approx. 5 new teams from Hockey 101 Jennifer Bessinger sent approximately $16,000 worth of invoices to Nancy Wefler o Wefler will calculate how much she can allocate to WHAM from her MN Hockey funds. 4 Events Director: Dani Bennett Old Business WHAM Referee Group-Terri Loken o Bring Referee Payment to September Fall Scheduling Meeting on 9/19 A Plan was established to call/ potential new WHAM members from names collected at the Pride Booth In the future WHAM will only sign-up for the booth; NOT the parade due to lack of volunteers Eric Olson is in support and wants to implement our plan of retaining women referees. Steps for the Upcoming Season: o WHAM Referee Director needs to be assigned WHAM referee questions should be directed to the President, Gina Wright, for now o The WHAM Board is working out a plan to submit the game schedule(s) to Terri for referee assignment. o Committee: Chelsea Ray-Captain, June Wheeler, Terri Loken, and a couple more referees (unknown yet) o Piggy backing onto D6 Evaluation Process-Promotion Process o Referees paid monthly-due Date TBD o C3 Mentors-Terri Loken will create a field to schedule mentors from October through December 2 experienced refs: one shadowing and one officiating the game Games assigned manually for Mentor C3 Game o Codes 100-A Elite 200-As 400-B2/B1 600-C1/B3 800-C3/C2 (Mentor) 850-Newbie o There are 28 referee spots open and June Wheeler, with help from the Board, will provide Terri Loken with names of reputable referees o Scheduling Duluth Referees Beth Chaplin will the team managers of the C1/B1 Duluth Teams about their referees Nancy will contact the Duluth Referee Supervisor for referees; will discuss referees with committee and send names to

5 National Tourney Committee Next Meeting Date: Terri Loken Terri Loken s refereeschedulerwham@gmail.com o Terri s daughter Laurie/husband Tom will cover for her in an emergency Referee Assignment: Arbiter is set-up as self-assign, not auto-assign, so referees are sent an warning them of the time/date they re able to choose games to officiate. o Referees are limited to choosing 5 games to officiate per scheduling period (Note: back-to-back games are considered one game, so referees that pick 3 games that are back-to-back can officiate up to 15 games). WHAM is in charge of making sure that Arbiter is correct o Erika Hockinson-Spande will have access to the game#, etc from arbiter and will copy and paste game changes to Terri Loken o Hockinson-Spande will format the schedule from SportNgin to the Arbiter format Fees/Payments/Charges: o $11 per referee to have an account with arbiter o Referees will be paid $39.50, rather than paying $40 to Terri Loken at the beginning of the season The $.50 will go towards administrative fees o $50/yr for 1099 o $79/yr for Payroll o Referee Fees to Terri Loken by the 10 th of the month for the previous month o Referees owe $80 if they no show, and the other referee reported the no show or $40 for a no show if the other referee never reported it to Terri Loken.
