PSU dominated most of Thursday s game, but settled for a 2-2 tie before falling 4-2 in Friday s contest that was controlled by St. Lawrence. Penn State skated to its first tie of the season in its first meeting with St. Lawrence on Thursday. The Nittany Lions were held to a season-low two goals, while holding the Saints to only two goals, the second-best defensive effort this season. Penn State fired 50+ shots for the second time this year, doubling up SLU Alec Marsh opened the scoring in the first and Vince Pedrie supplied the game-tying goal in the third period. Eamon McAdam made 24 saves in the tie to move to on the season. The Nittany Lions went 1-for-14 on the power play over the weekend (0-for-7 Thursday, 1-for- 7 Friday). On Friday, Penn State fell in a 2-0 hole due to special teams with SLU scoring on a power-play goal in the first and a short-handed goal in the second. Kenny Brooks scored his second of the season, while on the power play, just 24 seconds after PSU gave up the short-handed tally to cut the deficit in half. Luke Juha s first goal of the season evened the score just three minutes before the second intermission. St. Lawrence bagged two third-period goals within six minutes of each other for the final 4-2 score line. Eamon McAdam suffered his first loss of the year despite a great effort in net. McAdam had 35 saves including stops on two breakaways. WE RE GOING STREAKING! David Goodwin enters Friday s game riding a seven-game point streak. Goodwin s streak is a career best and the second-longest in Penn State s nascent Division I history (9, Taylor Holstrom, ).
