2 penn state HOCKEY PennStateMensHockey HOCKEY THIS WEEK IN HOCKEY Penn State leaves the Keystone State for the first time in 63 days to face Ohio State in the team s first Big Ten road series of the year. Both games will be streamed live through BTN Plus ($) with live audio through GoPSUnow. Over the radio, the game can be heard on the Penn State Sports Network. TIME TO BECOME ROAD WARRIORS Eleven of the final 14 regular-season games will be played away from Hockey Valley. Penn State is on the road this year and in all games away from Pegula Ice Arena. PSU has yet to win a game at Ohio State, having gone in two previous series. WISCONSIN SERIES RECAP No. 15 Penn State swept the Wisconsin Badgers for a third straight time with an exciting 4-3 overtime win on Friday and a 4-1 victory the next night. On Friday, Penn State dominated the shot count (58-25), but the Badgers forced overtime behind 54 saves by Matt Jurusik. The Lions were led by David Goodwin s two-point game, tallying an assist on Andrew Sturtz s third-period goal and supplying the game-winning goal 44 seconds into OT. Tommy Olczyk evened the score in the second period and Dylan Richard put the Lions ahead with a short-handed tally only 13 seconds shy of the second intermission. PSU outshot Wisconsin, 24-3, in the period. On Saturday, Eric Scheid s three points led the Nittany Lions to a 4-1 win. Penn State staked an early 2-0 lead through a Curtis Loik power-play tally and an Andrew Sturtz left-circle snipe in the first period. Loik s goal came on the immediate play following Eamon McAdam s incredible breakaway save on Seamus Malone. McAdam finished with 39 stops. Following UW cutting the lead in the second period, Eric Scheid scored the first of his two goals on the night, putting away a rebound during a 5-on-3 power play with 13 minutes to go. Scheid tallied his third short-handed goal of the year with 3: to play, assisted by David Thompson and McAdam. MCADAM TABBED BIG TEN 2ND STAR Eamon McAdam s 39-save, one-assist performance was recognized by the Big Ten as he was named the second star of the week. PENALTY KILL EXPERTS Penn State has had a complete turnaround on the penalty kill this season, going from (almost) worst to first.
