In their inaugural season, Orlando City fell just short of becoming the fourth expansion team to earn a postseason berth in its first LS season, finishing in seventh place in the Eastern Conference. Head coach Adrian Heath guided the Lions to 44 points and a seventh-place finish last year, just five points behind Toronto FC for the final postseason berth in the Eastern Conference. TEA NEWS Seb Hines and Kaká put a resounding punctuation on Orlando City s preseason schedule, as Hines scored four goals all set by Kaká in a 6- defeat of Brazilian side Esporte Clube Bahia on Saturday evening at the Orlando Citrus Bowl. Orlando City scored just four goals from set pieces during the season the fewest of any team in ajor League Soccer. The quality of the ball was great tonight, said Heath. There were large players in the box which played to our advantage. We had a lot of practice in the set pieces in the off season. We wanted to change our styles from last season because we didn t score enough off set pieces. Said Hines: To score four is something I m very proud of. I couldn t believe I had the opportunity [to score four goals. Working on the head set piece has been really important and it has really paid off. We have the players with the stature to do it and working has really paid off. Orlando City recorded a pair of victories against LS competition during their preseason campaign, claiming a - vs. Toronto FC when Kaká scored two goals, and also taking a 3- win vs. the New York Red Bulls. Cyle Larin, who set an LS record with 7 goals in his rookie season and won Rookie of the Year honors, did not score a goal during the preseason campaign. If you look back he started a bit slowly last year, Heath said.... From my point of view, I am sitting here fully confident that he will have the same sort of season he had last season. I don t see any reason why he shouldn t he s bigger, he s stronger, he s quicker, he understands the game better than he did this time last year. TEA NEWS Real were eliminated from the CONCACAF Champions League at the quarterfinal stage following a - draw with Tigres UANL in the second leg of their series Wednesday evening at Rio Tinto Stadium, losing the tie 3- on aggregate. Joao Plata scored the Real goal, netting the opener in the nd minute to pull the LS side back within a goal on aggregate. Javier orales also saw a penalty saved, before Tigres killed off the tie with a stoppage-time goal from Andre-Pierre Gignac. Hopefully these two games, minus the results, is going to breed confidence in the way that we re going to be able to attack. We re talking about our attack, but I thought our defending was fantastic tonight. And sometimes a good attack makes for a good defense. 16 ORLANO CITY NEWS AN NOTES #FILLTHEBOWLAGAIN Almost exactly a year ago, Orlando City opened its inaugural ajor League Soccer season with a groundbreaking attendance number: 6,38 fans in a complete sellout of the Orlando Citrus Bowl. The Club has officially launched a campaign to repeat the feat and #FillTheBowlAgain for Sunday s match, proving Orlando truly is the Soccer Capital of the South. 3 VS ORL VS RSL BENVENUTO, NOCERINO Antonio Nocerino will be at the Orlando Citrus Bowl watching the match on Sunday after having his first training session with the Club and making an appearance at the Orlando City Pub Crawl in front of the supporters on Saturday. Nocerino, 3, was acquired by the Lions in February from C United, who held his rights. While at AC ilan, Nocerino played alongside current Lions playmaker and captain, Kaká. SEB [S]HINES Centerback Seb Hines was the man of the match in City s final preseason game last weekend.
