1 A WORD FROM OUR PRESIDENT Hi Everyone, THE PUCK I hope everyone is having a great summer. I am excited that there is an NHL team in Las Vegas next season but sad to lose our Gene Hart Award winner Pierre-Edouard Bellemare in the expansion draft. I will be sure to contact Zack Hill so that we can forward the donation to his charity. Lou Milano and Phans of Philly have a great trip to Vegas planned in February for the Fan Club. Please see details of all Lou s trips inside this edition or on the website. I want to also congratulate Mark Recchi on being elected to the NHL Hall of Fame. Mark had two stops here in Philly and was always a fan favorite. I m certainly counting the days to training camp and looking forward to seeing all of the young kids especially Nolan Patrick. It will be interesting to see who makes the team and who doesn t. As I mentioned in my last article, I will be handing the President s torch over to Theresa Carney-Kestenholz beginning in September. So let s give Theresa a round of applause! Enjoy the rest of the summer! Our membership enjoyed several exciting guests at our meetings; Flyers defenseman and PFFC Gene Hart Memorial Award winner Shayne Gostisbehere, Flyers assistant coach Gord Murphy, hockey writer and radio host Russ Cohen, beat writer Dave Isaac, Flyers General Manager Ron Hextall, Hockey Buzz blogger Bill Meltzer and Flyers Head Equipment Manager Derek Settlemyre all joined us this past year. Our guests always have lots of amazing stories to share and these were no exception. Thank you once again, to all of our incredible guests for taking the time to speak with the PFFC. As always, our trip coordinator Lou Milano, along with Phans of Philly Joe DiBiaggio hosted some incredible trips during the season. Fans visited Nashville in early December, attended the Outdoor Game at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh in February, saw the Flyers-Bruins game in March and enjoyed a bus trip to New York vs. the Rangers in early April. Both Lou and Joe are hard at work planning the trips for the upcoming season; the highlight will be in February when the Flyers visit Las Vegas Golden Knights for the first time ever!! See page 3 for details on this and other upcoming trips. Other activities last season were a Flyers Watch Party in October at the Stadium Holiday Inn, our Beef & Bowl night in April and the all new BBQ & Bowl in June and coming up again in August (details on page 1). There was also a trip to New York to see the musical Hello Dolly on Broadway in June and our annual Phillies game outing in July. As you can see, our meetings and outings are always a fun time and there is something for everyone. If you ve never attended a meeting or event, please join us! I hope you all have a great rest of the summer. Contact Lou for more information. Price will available soon on phansofphilly.com LAS VEGAS: EARLY FEBRUARY 2018: Wow a first, a Philadelphia Flyers road trip to Las Vegas!! As soon as the NHL began talking about forming an expansion team in Vegas we knew a Flyers road trip needed to be done right away! There have been over 200 deposits already placed and lots of inquiries. This is going to be our BIGGEST trip yet hands down! For this trip, 4-night and 3-night packages will be offered. All of our flights are NON-STOP with amazing times that will let you get the most out of your trip. And we were able to secure large blocks of seats so that means the flights will be full of ORANGE & BLACK!! The 4-night option departs on Thursday 2/8 at 10:15 AM non-stop into Las Vegas at 12:55 PM, which gives you the entire day to explore! The 3-night option will depart Friday 2/9 at 10:15 AM non-stop into Las Vegas at 12:55 PM. The return flight will be non-stop as well, getting you back into Philadelphia sometime Monday (2/12) evening. We have set up AIRPORT TRANSFERS for our group when we arrive in Vegas, which is included in the package. Our hotel for the weekend, the 4-star PARIS Las Vegas Hotel is in a perfect location in the center of the Las Vegas strip, so you are close to all the entertainment, nightlife, shopping, etc. It is an amazing property that will make you feel like you are in Paris with the decorations, fountains and the huge Eiffel Tower in the middle of the hotel! On a normal weekend this hotel is close to $300 a night after taxes, plus the $35 a night resort fee but we were able to work out a great deal on our rooms. Saturday 2/10/18, the Flyers play on the road (at Arizona) and we know everyone will want to watch the game so we booked a spot just for our group to drink, eat and watch the game with other Flyers fans! The bar will show the game on their TVs with the sound tuned in! ALL OF YOUR BEERS, SODA, AND FOOD WILL BE INCLUDED THROUGHOUT THE GAME! You won't be spending a penny! Sunday 2/11/18, is game day! Our pre-game party is going to be EPIC!! We have a whole rooftop bar overlooking the Las Vegas strip booked for just Flyers fans! It will be at the 10,000-square foot Beer Park located right out front of our hotel, so it does not get any more convenient than that!! Just walk out the door and you are there! For 3 hours ALL OF YOUR DRINKS & FOOD will be INCLUDED! The bar has 42 different beers on tap as well as mixed drinks, wine, champagne, soda and bottled water and a food layout of assorted appetizers. There will be Flyers raffles, pool tables, foosball tables, beer pong tables, shuffleboard tables, and more games! It is going to be one heck of a party to get everyone ready for the Flyers game!! The pre-game party is a short 15-minute walk to T-Mobile arena. When we get into the arena all of our seats will be located together in the upper level on the side the Flyers shoot twice! We are sure to get a ton of attention on the broadcast with all of the Flyers fans that made the trip across country sitting together! There isn't much more to say other than this trip is going to be our biggest and best. Don't miss out on this experience! Spots are filling fast and will become limited. All it takes is a $150 deposit per person to reserve your spot. From there the remaining balance is broken into very flexible payment plans across the months leading up to the trip or however you may want it. All deposits and payments are non-refundable.
