St. Albert Minor Hockey Association Executive Report NAME Melissa Nollski Position Admin VP DATE March 31 st, 2017 Meeting AGM Report REPORTING PERIOD FROM March 7 th, 2017 TO April 20 th, 2017 It is my pleasure to report to the St. Albert Minor Hockey Association (SAMHA) membership on the many tasks and activities of our hockey association over the past year. The 2016/2017 season was the second year of my term as VP of Admin. It was an interesting season to say the least dealing with many issues within the association alongside Directors and committees alike. Mid-season, it was decided that both our Executive Committee and Hockey Operations (HOC) committee come together to try and merge their way back to one meeting for committee members as there was a lot of duplication of information; yet challenges with communication between the two groups as has been noted in years past. Going back to this structure allowed for greater transparency by providing the ability to work together and forge the relationship building amongst the two committees. I found that by doing so, everyone s voice was heard, challenged and produced supportive outcomes for the entire association for the remainder of the season. Player suspensions were high this year but dealt with accordingly through Division Directors first and foremost and then in collaboration with myself and the VP of HOC. Suspensions handed out were to players, parents and coaches, and some decisions handed down were all for the care and concern for the overall association. The Discipline Committee met once this season, along with our Appeals committee meeting only once this season as well. The Admin VP position remains one that is called upon regularly throughout the season for decision making, suggestions, ideas and clarity and it hasn t come without challenge or criticism in doing what s best for the overall association while following the many policies/processes/bylaws that are in place. Working in collaboration with the HOC VP, Division Directors and all members of the Executive has allowed me to share the fair and transparent processes that took place towards positive outcomes for the various situations that arose this season. I am pleased to share that great relationships have been built with all including both our Hockey Alberta and Hockey Edmonton colleagues this past season as well. Many decisions had the support of our colleagues and were handled sufficiently and on par with both Hockey Edmonton and Hockey Alberta standards. Ongoing communication happened all season long, and as we wrap up this hockey season, any and all discipline actions that are outstanding will continue to be dealt with accordingly and/or carried forward to next season. I wanted to express my gratitude to all individuals who have assisted with my growth in this position and the collaboration it takes to make difficult decisions easier to manage. We have amazing Directors and Administration that support the members of the association and they all make it their mission to provide the best supports to each member at any time. Everyone in every role is a volunteer and works extremely hard giving countless hours to manage responsibilities the best way we know how. I trust that the new membership that moves us forward into the 2017/2018 season will continue in this manner and continue to make this association a leader for other local Minor Hockey Associations to follow! Mel Nollski Admin VP

St. Albert Minor Hockey Association AGM Report NAME Colin Diakow Position Vice President HOC DATE April 20, 2017 Meeting AGM Introduction The role of Vice President HOC oversees the Hockey Operations Committee (HOC) and reports to the Executive. As the Vice President, I meet regularly with the Executive, Division Directors, the Edmonton Minor Hockey Association (EMHA), SAMHA Ice Allocator, SAMHA Administration, and other leagues/associations. Building strong relationships within the community and beyond are a large part of this role. Volunteers I would like to take a moment to thank those that took the time out of their busy lives to volunteer in many different capacities for SAMHA. SAMHA relies heavily on each of you for its success. Our volunteer capacities are roles such as board members, coaches, team staff, parents, players, team volunteers and evaluation volunteers (to name a few) all working together to build a positive hockey experience for our children and a great minor hockey association; SAMHA. Edmonton Minor Hockey Association (EMHA) Meeting with EMHA representatives to support our interlock teams is also part of this role. These meetings include many other associations where we are able to address individual issues or concerns we face as associations. These meetings are beneficial to demonstrate our synergies as associations and to see if we are able to improve current processes based on the success of others. We learn from each other in a trusted environment. Development SAMHA is a large proponent of development. We believe in the development of not only our players but also our coaches. Our coaches contribute timeless effort and energy into our children thus assisting in not only their development on the ice, but also their development as people and the way in which they contribute to our community. SAMHA offers programs such as power skating and goaltender development. We strive to encourage and empower our children to become strong, healthy contributors to our community. We believe we have created, and continue to create, a balanced program for children of all ages and ability. Construction Some exciting news is the construction of a warm-up room at Akinsdale and Kinex arenas! This construction is scheduled to start April 2017.

Provincials Congratulations to all of our teams that have participated in provincials. Another incredibly successful season. At this time, I believe it is important to mention those who contributed countless hours to this success of the Provincials. Paul Reid (Midget and Atom Director), Michael Tymko (PeeWee Director), Brian Paradis (Bantam Director) and Shannon Mosanno (Ice Allocator) spent too many hours to count working together on ice allocation, organization and a positive experience for the teams. Thank you from all of us at SAMHA. I would like to take a moment to call out Shannon, our Ice Allocator. A huge thanks to you for all of your assistance this season. SAMHA truly is lucky to have you on our team. Edmonton Minor Hockey Week Another year at Edmonton Minor Hockey Week (EMHW) proved to be a great experience for our teams. Many coming out with medals and many great memories. The End In conclusion, I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who has contributed in any way to the SAMHA association. After many years, this will be my last working with the association and I would like to share how much I have enjoyed the relationships built, the challenges we have overcome and the successes we have shared. Wishing you all continued success in the sport of hockey. Best wishes, Colin Diakow Vice President, HOC SAMHA

St. Albert Minor Hockey Association AGM Report NAME Clayton Billey Position Initiation Director DATE April 3, 2017 Page(s) 1 of 3 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING REPORT The Intro to Hockey and Initiation Programs were a great success this season and I am very pleased with how the program was executed with the support of St. Albert Minor Hockey and the Members and players of the association. 35 St. Albert Minor Hockey Association AGM Report NAME Clayton Billey Position Initiation Director DATE April 3, 2017 Page(s) Page 2 of 3 Registration Summary con t Registration for Initiation and Intro to Hockey Fall Session 266 skaters Registration for Initiation and Intro to Hockey Winter Session 310 skaters Season registration numbers were (293) skaters. It is difficult to make a true comparison to last season as the program design differed with the start of Intro to Hockey and Initiation (formerly I2) allowing 5 and 6 yr old players. In summary, the positive is we seen an increase in registration with the Winter Session of Intro to Hockey. We had an increase of (55) new registrations for the Winter Session of Intro to Hockey from the Fall Session for a total of (126) Skaters. (71) Skaters returned from the Fall Session and (11) did not return for various reasons from wanting to try another sport to just not ready yet, which supported the proof of concept of the program design. The increase is skaters however from the Fall Season had team sizes increase and the creation of two additional teams for the Winter Session. Program Design Intro to Hockey Initially designed for players 4 and 5 years of age to try the game, with a lesser commitment in time and financially than Initiation 1 in the past. Two 10 week sessions were put together, one Fall Session (Oct Jan) and a second Winter Session (Jan Mar) with ice times weekly on Sundays. Ice sessions were half ice, no game play, just simple individual skill development based on the Hockey Canada Skill Development Manual. It was decided to allow (2) 6yr old players in the Winter Session to register to allow them an opportunity to play hockey based on a special request due to siblings and first time playing the game. Initiation The program ran as it did in past years formally known as Initiation 2, with the only change being the ability for 5 yr old players to register which previously Initiation 2 was only for 6 yr old players. Program ran twice weekly, half ice practice on Saturday with a half ice game on Sunday. Player were grouped by spreading out the ability per team. We have had a great Timbit Jamboree at Servus Place on March 19 th which had each team (Intro to Hockey and Initiation) playing two games during the day. A great thanks to Chad Jenkins of Tim Hortons in St. Albert for all their support throughout the season with Jersey s, Medals, Mini-Sticks, Hockey Cards, Toques and sponsorship of the year end Timbit Jamboree. We had a smaller version of a Jamboree for the Fall Session players in December at Kinex the completion the Fall Session.

St. Albert Minor Hockey Association AGM Report NAME Clayton Billey Position Initiation Director DATE April 3, 2017 Page(s) Page 3 of 3 Recommendations for Intro to Hockey One session next year that will start later, possibly November and run for 14 wks to end in March, with a breaks at Christmas and the Family Day Weekend. Reason for this is to allow first time hockey parents time to register their children after the start of other divisions. We had a large influx of registrations after the start of the SAMHA seasons as many new hockey parents were not aware of the program offered for 4 and 5 yr old players. We as well want to open it up to 6yr old players too. The format will remain the same, one ice time per week, with individual progression based on the Hockey Canada Skill Development Manual. No game play will occur at this level. Initiation - Format will remain the same as last year with registration for 5 and 6 yr old players. Few changes we are working on are as follows: Increasing the net size from 24 x 36 presently to 36 x 54, which will still allow proportioning of the size of players to half ice surface and net sized based on goalies having equipment. Grouping teams by ability and based on registration to allow 3 groups of abilities and have provisions for team movement throughout the year based on game play. Arena Venue Change We did speak to the City of St. Albert again this season about the possibility of moving the program to Servus Place but it comes down to the issue of storage for the half ice boards which the City can t facilitate as this time. If an opportunity presents itself next season will surely broach this topic again. Thank you to Stefani Schell the Initiation Coordinator who was a great help in putting together the program this past season with all the behind the scenes work! In addition, I want to thank everyone for their support within SAMHA and all SAMHA Members who participated in the division and volunteered to make this past season a great success! I very much look forward to my second year as Initiation Director. Best Regards, Clayton Billey - Initiation Director

St. Albert Minor Hockey Association AGM Report NAME Tug Knowlton Position Novice Director DATE April 20, 2017 Meeting AGM This season we made some small changes to our program. The first of these changes was to add 2 teams to our Novice Interlock program taking our total number of Co-Ed hockey teams from 6 to 8. At season s end all 8 of these teams competed in tier 5C or better. We finished the year with: SA720-Tier 1 SA721-Tier 1 SA722-Tier 2 SA723-Tier 4A (Started in 4B) SA724-Tier 3 (Started in 4B) SA725-Tier 4B (Started in 5B) MHW Gold, EMHA Gold SA726-Tier 5C (Started in 6B) MHW Silver, EMHA Gold SA727-Tier 5B (Started in 6B) MHW Gold, EMHA Silver We added a second Novice Girls Team this year!! This exciting second change was brought about by the growth of female registrations and a reinvigorated interest in girls playing with girls. A special Thank You to Terry Black & Sean Sutcliffe for helping me spread the message about the benefits of the Female Program. Both girls teams competed well and finished the year well but most importantly they had fun!! SA728- SA729- Tier 5C Tier 8C MHW Gold

Our Novice Development Leagues were also a success this year. Once again we invited the Sturgeon Hockey Club to enter 2 teams into our house league. This year they entered 1 team in NDL1 and 1 team in NDL2. These two teams rounded out the 5 teams we had here in each tier. Allowing for Sturgeon to tier their development league teams provided more parody and enjoyment for all the teams in this league. By all accounts we continue to have a very strong Novice Program with 20 teams and over 300 kids registered. It is my hope we continue to push our program to new heights. Success needs to be measured by the enjoyment of the game by all participants. Development of our athletes with an emphasis on their mental development as much as their physical or technical development is also key to future growth to registration. Thank you to our coaches and managers this year. Your leadership and mentorship is paramount in the enjoyment of the game. We continue to be the envy of the hockey community with the quality of people we have involved. Last, but not least, thank you Carrie Selin. Carrie worked tirelessly to organize me and the Novice Division. She is the backbone of any success we have had over my two years as Novice Director.

St. Albert Minor Hockey Association Executive Report NAME Paul D. Reid Position ATOM Director DATE Meeting REPORTING PERIOD FROM April 2017 TO Overview Approx 311 players registered in the season. 20 teams: 2 Female, 18 Co-ed. o St. Albert Atom Development League: 6 teams all Co-ed. o EMHA ( Federation ) 12 Co-ed & 2 Female Evaluations o All players were notified via the SAMHA website. The attendance rate was ~98%. o Bar Down- An evaluation company out of Edmonton was utilized for these evaluations. o Most parents and players were very satisfied with evaluations this season. Bar Down is competent and fairly easy to work with. o Each player attended four scrimmages. o After the placement scrimmage, three 1 hour scrimmages were conducted with the players falling in to either A, B, or C category depending on their time placement from the skill slot. These were based upon ( aggregate ) skill time rankings. o Players were evaluated by Bar Down during these three scrimmages and were moved either up or down ( or stayed where they were ) after the first and second scrimmage. Team Formation o Interlock teams had 15 players ( 2 goalies & 13 skaters ) on each team. Some teams only had 1 goalie due to the shortage of goalies in ATOM this season.

o Development had approx 14 players ( 1 goalie & 14 skaters ) on each team. o Teams were kept at a lower # of players to allow more ice time during games, a better ratio of coach to player which benefits instructional time, more drills reps per player. INTERLOCK The Interlock teams were set up and assigned on the following basis: 14 teams were in EMHA ( Edmonton Minor Hockey Association ). 12 Coed & 2 Female. Two in B1, Two in B2, two in B3, two in B5 and two in B7. Please note I am still using the SAMHA designation of B to denote the SAMHA teams. The B1 teams a provincially ranked as AA, B2 as A, etc. The two B1 stayed in the Canadians AA division throughout the season placing 1 st and 4 th after the final round. The two B2 teams stayed in ATOM A Maple Leaf Division placing 1 st and 2 nd. The two B3 teams stayed in OILERS 1A division and were both competitive at this level. Mostly ending up top 3 in each round. The two B5 teams started at the same tier. One team moved up a tier another moved down a tier. The two B7 teams jumped two tiers to 5A in the final round of tiering in the Capitals division in placed 1 st and 2 nd. Both female teams SA 743 & 744 moved up from their respective tiers. SA743 was tiered far below their skill set for the first round but was rectified for the second round-devils 4B. I will be seeking the returning coaches input on where to place the teams next season. Almost all teams remained competitive in all rounds in EHMA. In most cases placing top 4. Most movement came after the first round. This can be attributed to each season being different (level of skilled players from all clubs in the EMHA ) and placement can be difficult before the season starts. 21 league games were played. Approx 23 shared practices per team but this may have fluctuated due to the ice shortage St. Albert faces.

Provincials: 4 teams participated this season: o SA731,732, 733, & 734 o SA 731 captured Zone in playdowns and the Provincial title in Fort McMurray. Special note about SA 731. This team captured the Triple Crown this season winning MHW, City Championship and Provincials.- Quite the accomplishment. TOURNAMENTS INTERLOCK- Edmonton MHW ( Minor Hockey Week ) was in January once again this year. All Interlock teams participated. Four SAMHA teams captured Gold in this tournament. One winning Silver: SA731 - Gold SA734 - Gold SA735 - Gold SA741 - Silver SA742 - Gold ADL ( ATOM DEVELOPMENTAL LEAGUE ) 8 teams ( 6 from SAMHA & 2 form Sturgeon Minor Hockey Association ) 20 shared ice SAMHA practices per team ( Saturday) 20 league games per team ( Sunday ) Sturgeon team 2 won the ADL Championship with AC2502 The Bandits who won Silver. PLAYOFFS SA 731 GOLD in AA Canadians Division. SA 733 GOLD in A Maple Leafs Divsion. SA 734 SILVER in A Maple Leafs Division. SA 738 GOLD in Penguins Division. SA 742 GOLD in Capitals Divisions. SA 741 SIVER in Capitals Divisions.

Team Player Draft INTERLOCK EMHA ( INTERLOCK ) draft was held two days after the last scrimmage were complete. All the Interlock teams were drafted in one and the ADL the next night. Each draft was observed by VP of Hockey ( Colin Diakow ) for Interlock and Michael Tymko ( Pee Wee Director ) for ADL. At both Interlock and ADL drafts each Head Coach was permitted to pick an Assistant Coach resulting in that player being non draft pick for another team. For a Coach or Assistant Coach to be eligible their child had to be ranked in the appropriate pool of players EDMONTON INTERLOCK- Tier 1( AA Canadians Division ) - Players ranked up to 60. EDMONTON INTERLOCK- Tier 2 ( A Maple Leafs Division ) - Players unpicked and ranked up to 90. EDMONTON INTERLOCK- Tier 3 ( 1A Oilers Division ) - Players unpicked and ranked up to 120. EDMONTON INTERLOCK- Tier 5 ( 2 B Penguins Division )- Players unpicked and ranked up to 150. EDMONTON INTERLOCK- Tier 7 ( 5A Capitals Division )- Players unpicked and ranked up to 180. FEMALE TEAMS ( SA 743 & 744 ) were drafted an A& B teams o SA743 were tiered far too low at the beginning of the season finally settling in at 4B Devils Division. o SA 744 started off at 6C and ended up at 6B Ducks division. Each coach had to return the return the ranking sheet after their draft was complete.

ADL DRAFT To promote balance the draft order in odd rounds was determined by lottery with reverse order of selection being used for even rounds. Michael Tymko ( Pee Wee Director ) did draft a team at the time of the draft we were had one team who had not yet had a Head Coach. DEVELOPMENT Coach Mentorship o This was and still is a great idea. Coaches get to learn from a Coach Mentor that is hired by SAMHA to visit teams and work with the coaching staff and players on drills, skills, and practice planning. We need to do this again for the season. PLAYER DEVELOPMENT Each team had Donna Stewart and/or her instructors ( Power Skating ) attend four SAMHA ADL & Interlock practices. Two teams would be on the ice for each of the four sessions. I recommend we continue on with this format for the season. o GOALTENDING o Keep the sessions that are in place. This was heavily utilized by the Atom goal tenders this season. RECOMMENDATIONS for Dissolve ADL. Players are not developing properly in ADL as opposed to being placed on an Interlock team with same skilled players. Also, being on an interlock team allows the teams movement in EMHA to match the player and team skill set. This cannot happen in ADL.

I would like to thank Christine and Holly ( the office girls ) who always has time to pick up the phone for me, my coaches and parents. Shannon Maisano ( Ice Allocator ) who found ice for my teams when needed. Shauna Hudec my Coordinator who is fantastic at what she does, who was a tremendous help during evaluations and throughout the season. Lastly, I would like to thank the coaches, managers, and anyone else that helped make this another successful season. This organization runs on volunteers and it can t be done without you. Paul D. Reid Atom Director

In the St Albert Minor Hockey Association, this past season, the Peewee program was divided into two areas of responsibilities. The Rep Director is responsible for administering the team selection and operation of the AA teams. The Peewee Director is responsible for the team selection and operation of all other Peewee teams in relation to their play within the Hockey Edmonton league, tournaments and Provincials. Upon team selection of the three AA teams, the evaluations process was conducted for the remaining players. The evaluation process was conducted as follows: September 22, 2016 Goalie Evaluation September 23, 2016 Scrimmage #1 (Female Registrants) September 24, 2016 Scrimmage #1 (Coed Registrants) Scrimmage #2 (Female Registrants) September 25, 2016 Scrimmage #2 (Coed Registrants) Final Scrimmage (Female Registrants) September 27/28/29, 2016 Scrimmage #3 (Coed Registrants) October 1, 2016 Final Scrimmage (Coed Registrants) In consultation with the applicants for the coaching positions of the female teams and also consultation with the independent evaluation company, a decision was made to eliminate the final scrimmage for the female registrants. I would like to thank all parents who helped out during the evaluation process to make sure every player received a jersey, had their gate open and that we had all jerseys returned after each skate. During the evaluation process, there were 39 forwards, 22 defensemen and 3 goalies in the female program and 137 forwards, 72 defensemen and 22 goalies in the coed program. Upon completion of the evaluation process, players were selected onto teams as follows: From the 282 co-ed players that were evaluated at the Peewee level, we were able to form 3 AA teams and 15 Peewee coed interlock teams for a total of 18 Peewee coed teams. From the 64 female players that were evaluated at the Peewee level and one goalie whom came down from Bantam, we were able to form 4 interlock teams. The three AA teams were submitted into Tier 1 of the Hockey Edmonton league. The remaining 15 co-ed teams and the four female teams played in the Hockey Edmonton league. There were 15 divisions within the Hockey Edmonton league divided as follows A, 1A, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 4A, 4B, 4C, 5A, 5B, 5C, 6A, 6B and 6C. The Peewee Coaches Meeting was held on October 3, 2016.

The IPRP program monitors the ability of a team to achieve travel permits to participate in exhibition and tournament games. Teams must achieve a point in at least 50% of their games in each round in order to participate in exhibition games and/or tournament games in the next round of play. Teams achieve a point if they are assessed less than the threshold of penalty minutes permitted. The threshold of penalty minutes is less than 18 minutes for Tier 1A to Tier 5C and less than 16 minutes for Tier 6A to Tier 6C. No teams were restricted from travel throughout the season. Highlights include all teams achieving an average of more than 70%, all teams except two achieving an average of 85% or more over the season, 13 teams achieving 90% or more and 11 teams (SA751, SA753, SA754, SA758, SA759, SA763, SA764, SA765, SA766, SA767, SA768) achieving 100% of their points throughout the season. 48 I would like to personally thank Holly and Christina for all their help throughout the entire season. Being a Director, is a great opportunity to learn about the St Albert Minor Hockey Association and see the opportunity we can provide to all children. Also, we can see the number of challenges and numerous hours that people put forth to make everything work. The Peewee program was a success largely as the result of the assistance of these individuals and the leadership provided by the coaches selected. My focus to players and coaches is to represent St Albert Minor Hockey, St Albert, their team, their family and themselves well - I am proud of the way the Peewee division represented this season. I would like to thank all for the opportunity for being the Peewee Director this season. Regards, Michael Tymko Peewee Director

St. Albert Minor Hockey Association AGM Report NAME Brian Paradis Position Bantam Director DATE April 10, 2017 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING REPORT The season is complete and I would like to thank all Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Managers, and Treasurers on all of the Co-Ed and Female teams that represented St. Albert Minor Hockey Association this past year. A big thank you goes out to all other team officials and parents for the work that they did throughout the year with each team to make this a successful year in the Bantam program. In the St Albert Minor Hockey Association; this past season; the Bantam program was divided into three areas: Checking, Non Checking and Female. The Bantam Director is responsible for organizing the tryouts and selection process as well as the operation of all SAMHA Bantam teams, both male and female in relation to their play within the Hockey Edmonton league, tournaments and Provincials. The first event that took place in the Bantam division was the Checking Clinic on the weekend of August 27/28, male skaters and 24 female skaters participated in this clinic, which is administered every season by the Bantam Division prior to tryouts. Once the Raiders Organization Bantam team selection was completed; 1 Male Bantam AAA, 3 Male Bantam AA and 1 Bantam Elite Female; the evaluations process was conducted for the remaining players. During the evaluation process we had 99 forwards, 50 defensemen and 12 goalies for the male program and 20 forwards, 6 defensemen and 5 goalies for the female program. The evaluation process was conducted as follows: Bantam Checking Evaluations MALE Wednesday Sept. 21 Goalie Evaluations Saturday Sept. 24 Scrimmage1 Sunday Sept. 25 Scrimmage 2 Monday Sept. 26 Scrimmage 3: Movements were made. 50 I would like to thank all parents who helped out during the evaluation process to make sure every player received a jersey, had their gate open and made sure that we had all jerseys returned after each skate. Bantam Checking Divisions: Hockey Edmonton implemented Bantam A and Bantam B as Checking Divisions for the 2016/17 season and with that SAMHA was allowed to have 1 Bantam A team and 2 Bantam B teams. Checking Division teams received full schedules of 21 regular season games with no movement allowed from one tier to another. Bantam A Mark Wiltzen: 11 forwards/6 defense/2 goalies Bantam B Denis Dubois: 11 forwards/6 defense/2 goalies Bantam B Craig Piercey: 11 forwards/6 defense/2 goalies Bantam Non-Checking Divisions: There are three rounds of play within the Hockey Edmonton league where teams are provided the opportunity based on their records to move up or down into a more competitive division. All Bantam teams were placed in tiers that I felt along with the coaches where they should begin the season. Tier 1A Rick Reiter: 11 forwards/5 defense/1 goalie Tier 2A John Stankey: 11 forwards/5 defense/1goalie Tier 3A Leo Sanelli: 11 forwards/5 defense/1goalie Tier 4A Terry Degner: 11 forwards/6 defense/1goalie Tier 4A Coach Pat: 11 forwards/5 defense/2 goalies Tier 5A Vince Anderson: 11 forwards/6 defense/1goalie Bantam Female Divisions: For the 2016/17 season SAMHA was able to have 1 Bantam A team and 1 Bantam B team which included PeeWee Female players that moved up to fill the team rosters. Without the assistance of Peewee director Michael Tymko and from the parents of the players the Bantam division would not have been able to ice 2 teams. Female Division teams received full schedules of 21 regular season games with no movement allowed from one tier to another. 51 Minor Hockey Week was very successful in the Bantam division for St Albert. I would like to acknowledge the following accomplishments: SA779 (Geoff Giacobbo) - Gold in Bantam A Female SA780 (Chris Gallagher) - Silver in Bantam B Female SA769 (Mark Wiltzen) - Silver in Bantam A (Butler Division) SA770 (Denis Dubois) - Gold in Bantam B (Frederick Division) SA775 (Leo Sanelli) - Silver in Bantam Tier 3B (Wells Division) In the 2016/17 Hockey Edmonton playoffs we acknowledge the following accomplishments: SA779 (Geoff Giacobbo) - Gold in Female A Division SA780 (Chris Gallagher) - Gold in Female B Division SA770 (Denis Dubois) - Silver in Tier B Frederick Division Teams entered into Provincial tournaments and we acknowledge the following accomplishments: SA779 (Geoff Giacobbo) Female A Provincial Champions SA780 (Chris Gallagher) Zone 3 Representatives in Female B Division St. Albert Minor Hockey Association was represented locally at many tournaments and in the United States. I would like to thank all the teams for representing St. Albert and SAMHA on the highest level of respect, behavior and competitiveness, I am very proud of all the players and coaches. To the teams that went to the United States, Mark Wiltzen SA769 Missoula Montana, Denis Dubious SA770 San Diego and Craig Piercey SA771 Las Vegas, your teams represented SAMHA with class, dignity and ability, which is what our community desires from our citizens. I would like to personally thank Holly, Christina and Shannon for all their help throughout the entire season. I would also especially like to thank Alice Cameron for her assistance at the Registrar s role this season. I did learn a great deal in my first year as Bantam Director, it has been a great opportunity to learn about the St Albert Minor Hockey Association and see the opportunity we are able to provide to all children. Without the support of the SAMHA board and the administration I would not have been able to work through the number of challenges throughout the season. Everyone provided me with his or her knowledge and experience to help with the evolution of the season. I am amazed by the numerous hours that the SAMHA Board puts in to make everything work. The Bantam program was a success largely as the result of the assistance of these individuals and the leadership provided by the coaches selected. As expected players and coaches represented St Albert Minor Hockey, St Albert, their team, their family and themselves well - I am proud of the way the Bantam division represented this season. I would like to thank all for the opportunity of being your Bantam Director this season. Regards, Brian Paradis Bantam Director

St. Albert Minor Hockey Association AGM Report NAME Paul D. Reid Position Midget Director DATE April, 2017 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING REPORT The Midget division of the St. Albert Minor Hockey will complete yet another successful season at the end of March with just over 95 players registered throughout the program on five different teams. Evaluations: All players were notified via the SAMHA website. The attendance rate was ~92%. Evaluations were done over two scrimmages, where players were evaluated by coaches with the exception of the goalies. BAR DOWN produced goalie evaluators I recommend we keep the two scrimmage format as very little movement is present and having a third skate seems to be redundant. Draft took place in Oct where five teams ( four coed & one female ) were formed. ( SA ) 787 for female EMHA Due to EMHA changing the format of hit and not hit this season ( hit was tiers 1 & 2 only ) this season the teams were placed below. SA 782 started in A Bonner finished in B Davis. SA 783 started in B Davis and stayed. SA 783 started in 4A Hetchler and stayed SA 784 started in 4A Hetchler and stayed. SA 787 started in B and stayed in B.

Minor Hockey Week Still great to see Midget players participate in this tournament. Although I would like to see the tournament return to a two game loss knock out and not just a guaranteed two games. We had one team medal this season: SA 782 SILVER DEVELOPMENT Gold in the Net was not utilized this season for goal keepers. This didn t preclude any midget from requesting to attend any sessions as we would accommodate that request the best we could. Midget goalies piggy backed on the Bantam sessions. The structure of this included: -Players and Coaches signed up a week in advance for their available time slot -All Coaches in attendance will received handouts of drills, tips; in effect, learning with their Goaltenders At this time I am not sure SAMHA will be doing this again for the goalies in the season. This is still a fantastic program but is not utilized by Midget players enough to warrant using them having their own session next season. 1 st Annual Midget NO HIT Tournament. SAMHA hosted the first every No Hit Midget Tournament Family Day weekend. It was a tremendous success. 8 teams played a minimum of 4 ( three-20 minutes ) games utilizing Servus & Kinex/Akinsdale ice. Teams that participated were

o St. Albert SA 784 o St. Albert SA 785 o Vancouver o Beaumont o Cochrane o Bow River o Airdrie o Canmore I had over 15 teams on the wait list and another 14 teams inquire about wanting to enter. We need to do this again for the no hit teams every season as its very difficult for these teams to find a tournament to play in. PLAYOFFS All teams battled hard during playoffs. The following teams ended their playoff run with: SA 782 Silver in Davis division. SA 785 Silver in Hetchler division. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SEASON Depends on what EMHA does for their upcoming season regarding their tiering situation because of the proposed hit tiers from 1-5. Tier 5 and below will be no hit. If this doesn t happen and EMHA sticks with hitting only in tiers 1-2 SAMHA should only have two teams in and drafted in parity at tier 2. EMHA has to change their playoff structure for the season. Again this was been an major disappointment in the season. Due to the round robin format we saw, penalties and suspensions spiked due to this format. Teams playing in their 3 rd game of the round robin that had no chance of winning their division made the games turn in

to out of control mayhem. I have addressed this already with the EMHA Midget Director Jim Williamson for the I would like to thank Christine and Holly ( the office girls ) who always has time to pick up the phone for me, my coaches and parents. Shannon Maisano ( Ice Allocator ) who found ice for my teams when needed. Jenn Beres my Coordinator who is fantastic at what she does, who was a tremendous help during evaluations and throughout the season. Lastly, I would like to thank the coaches, managers, and anyone else that helped make this another successful season. This organization runs on volunteers and it can t be done without you. Paul Reid Midget Director

St. Albert Minor Hockey Association Executive Report NAME Deb Vollrath Position Rep Director DATE April 4th, 2017 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING REPORT REP SUMMARY FOR SEASON Our season started off with the help of numerous parent volunteers helping to facilitate the try-out process. I can t thank these volunteers enough!! ProStar Hockey was hired as our third party evaluators. Once again we were provided with a dedicated goalie evaluator and four player evaluators that attended each and every session. Head Coaches also participated in each ice time, along with most of the assistant coaches. This was the second season in which Hockey Alberta implemented the PeeWee AA Model. The PeeWee AA Model allows for some player movement between associations for those wanting to have a second tryout at the PeeWee AA level, however, this season we had no outside requests for players from any of the other associations. This season saw the Rep program encompass three teams at the PeeWee AA Level. The PeeWee AA teams played in Tier 1 of the Edmonton Minor Hockey Association League. All of these teams had numerous successes both on and off the ice in regards to development, team play and wins. I would like to thank the three Head Coaches, numerous Assistant Coaches, Parent Volunteers and the players for a fantastic season. Overall results A summary of the performance of each team is below: Peewee AA Saints Coach Rob Taylor 1. Tournament Play: -Spruce Grove Icebreaker: Silver Medal -Crowchild Challenge: Consolation Final Winners (5th) -Springbank: Overtime loss in D Final 2. Final Placement in League Standings: 16th overall with 25W, 19L and 6T. 3. Final Placement in Playoffs: Not available Coach Selection Coaches were interviewed and selected via a committee made up of SAMHA Directors and a third-party, non-samha coach. Coaches were selected in June to allow for adequate preparation time as per our bi-laws. Try-out Process For the season, we compressed the entire process into a three day tryout that occurred after September 1st as per the PeeWee AA Model. The rationale was to avoid stretching out over a prolonged time, and avoid the distractions of back-to-school. Numerous positive comments were received during this process, and in particular, how it wasn t unnecessarily drawn out. For the upcoming year, we will look at repeating the same process. The draft was overseen by Colin Diakow (VP of HOC) and Deb Vollrath (Rep Director). This year was the third year in which must picks were instituted at the PeeWee AA. The independent rankings from Pro Star Hockey Development were used to identify the top 9 forwards, top 6 defensemen, and top three goalies as MUST PICKS at the AA level. All three teams drafted full rosters of 9 forwards, 6 defence and 2 goalies. Thank-you, Deb Vollrath Rep Director St. Albert Minor Hockey Association

Hockey Operations Committee Year End Director Report Development Director Andrew Chuckrey April 6 th 2017 The year has been full of learning and growing for me into this position. I have begun to find my way in the big world of hockey development. I have said from day one that I am here for one reason and one reason only, the kids! My role with SAMHA is to look after Coach and Player development with my focus being the association becoming development minded. From Intro to hockey all the way to Midget, we can always strive to be better. We are one of the largest associations in Western Canada and with well over 1800 kids playing with us and development has a huge role to fill with minor hockey in St Albert. If we can bring all of our players and coaches onto the same page we will be a step ahead for years to come. This past season I have accomplished the following: - NCCP Coach certification courses o Coach 1 & 2 o Development 1 - Facilitated Coach development sessions - Facilitate the team development program (Hockey 200, Donna Stewart) - Facilitate the player development sessions (Gold In The Net, Donna Stewart) This upcoming year, I have the following items in progress or ready for implementation.
