St. Norbert is aiming for its fifth national title in 11 years, capturing the crown at Lake Placid in 2008 and 2012, in 2011 at Minneapolis and in 2014 at Lewiston, Maine. UW-Stevens Point is hunting for its sixth national title, with its last coming in Salve Regina and Colby are both making its first Frozen Four appearances. The Series: St. Norbert has never faced Colby or Salve Regina in men s ice hockey. Fierce rivals for more than two decades, St. Norbert leads the series with UW-Stevens Point by a margin in a series begun in the season. St. Norbert is in the last 64 games against the Pointers after opening the series St. Norbert is also in the last 37 games in the series. The Coaches: St. Norbert coach Tim Coghlin (UW-Stevens Point, 1989) is in his 25th season in De Pere. The Green Knights are in the last 17-plus seasons. Coghlin s eight NCAA championship game appearances and four national championships are the second most in Division III history. Coghlin was the captain of UW-Stevens Point s first national championship team in Colby coach Blaise MacDonald (RIT, 1985) is in his sixth season in Waterville. NCAA Tournament Appearances: St. Norbert is making its 18th overall NCAA Division III Tournament appearance, all coming within in the last 22 seasons. The Green Knights are all-time in NCAA competition, have reached 12 Frozen Fours, and have won 20 of their last 24 NCAA Tournament games. Freshman forward Keegan Milligan has 12 goals along with 13 assists for 25 points, while freshman forward Peter Bates has 11 goals and 14 assists for 25 points. 6 washings from Freshmen Fodder: St. Norbert has benefitted this season from its 10-member freshmen class. Four of the Green Knights top eight scorers this season have been freshmen. Forward Keegan Milligan has 12 goals and 13 assists for 25 points, while forward Peter Bates has 11 goals and 14 assists for 25 points. Bates also has five power-play goals and five game-winning goals. Forward Timmy Nicksic has six goals and 12 assists for 18 points, with goals in each of this last two games. Defenseman Luke Davison is the Green Knights top scoring blueliner this season at five goals and 13 assists for 18 points. St. Norbert s four freshmen in the top eight in scoring are the most of any team in the Frozen Four.
