Fierce rivals for the last two decades, St. Norbert leads the series with UW-Stevens Point by a margin in a series begun in the season. Senior forward Erik Cooper, leads the Green Knights in scoring with 12 goals and 21 assists for 33 points. Freshman forward Riley Christensen, who had two points and two assists against Augsburg, is now second on the team in scoring with 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points. Senior forward Michael Hill has 15 goals and 10 assists for 25 points, while junior forward Pijus Rulevicius has 15 goals and nine assists for 24 points. Junior goaltender Tony Kujava is with a 1.27 goals against average and.934 save percentage. Freshman T.J. Black is with a 1.45 goals against average and.934 save percentage. St. Norbert is 34-for-152 (22.4 percent) on the power play and is 122- for-135 (90.4 percent) on the penalty kill this season. St. Norbert went 4-0 in 2012 to win its third national title. St. Norbert, all-time in the tournament, has suffered overtime losses in two of its last three NCAA Tournament eliminations. Including the aforementioned Norwich game, St. Norbert lost to Oswego State 4-3 in overtime in a national semifinal game in the 2007 Frozen Four at UW-Superior. Dynamic Duo: St. Norbert boasts the top two goaltenders nationally in goals against average in the NCAA Division III national statistics as of Tuesday, March 22. Junior Tony Kujava is the national leader with a 1.27 goals against average, while freshman T.J. Black is second with a 1.45 goals against average. St. Norbert s goals against average record was set by Kyle Jones, who turned in a lusty 1.09 mark during the season, which included 10 shutouts. St. Norbert also leads the nation in scoring defense at a meager 1.38 goals per game, allowing just 40 goals in 29 games this season. The Green Knights best season defensively came in when they allowed 43 goals in 32 games for a 1.43 goals per game mark. Cooper Chatter: St. Norbert senior forward Erik Cooper had a school-record streak of 19 consecutive games with at least one point snapped in a 4-1 loss to Adrian on March 5. Cooper passed Maris Ziedins for the St. Norbert record for scoring in consecutive games. Ziedins scored in 17 straight games from Jan. 5-Oct. 30, Cooper, recently named NCHA Player of the Year, scored eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points over that 19-game stretch. 6 Cooper has scored at least one point in 27 of 29 games this season. He was also kept off the scoresheet in a 5-2 win over UW-Stevens Point on Nov. 21. Freshmen Facts: St. Norbert has two of the top seven goal scorers among NCAA Division III freshmen this season. Forwards Riley Christiansen and Roman Uchyn both have 13 goals this season for the Green Knights, which ties them for third-most in Division III among first-year players. Adrian s Trevor Boyd is currently the national leader among freshmen with goals scored at 16. Morrisville State s Danny Liscio is second with 15. Five skaters, including Christensen and Uchyn, currently have 13 goals. Cody Keefer was the last St. Norbert freshman to have a doubledigit goal total in his inaugural campaign, posting 13 goals in St. Norbert has not had two freshmen reach double digits in goals in the same season since Andy Cote scored 21 goals and Orrin Hergott added 10 goals in Eastern Eavesdroppings: St. Norbert is all-time against East Region opponents. The Green Knights played at least one game a season against an eastern foe for 18 years before not facing one in as well as until beating Geneseo State 6-2 on March 21, 2014 at the NCAA Division III Frozen Four. St. Norbert then resumed facing an East Region foe with home-and-home series with Buffalo State in and St. Norbert is all-time on East Region ice, which includes four neutral-site visits to the Frozen Four in 2008, 2010 and 2012 in Lake Placid, N.Y., and in 2014 to Lewiston, Maine.
