1 Welcome to The Battle Ground Youth Rugby Jamboree Saturday March 11 th, am to 2pm Laurin Middle School, NE 97th Ave, Vancouver, WA Each of the 35 teams plays 2 Games of 20-minutes (2 x 10-min halves with 3-min Half Time) Important message to all Coaches & Players from the Jamboree Hosts It s a Jamboree!! Please remember it s a Jamboree, a time for teams to come together in a positive rugby atmosphere before the competition starts and for them to have some fun! Yes, it is a time for teams to form up, sort themselves out, confirm player positions, learn to play against other teams and put their game plans into action. But please have some fun in this non-competitive environment while you are doing it. All coaches need to be very mindful, at the beginning of the season, of the varying skill levels of teams they are playing, adjust accordingly and embrace the true Spirit of Rugby Sportsmanship. If you are easily beating another team your players are not learning anything, so mix it up, try something like; playing one player down or out of position or giving the other teams your best 2 or 3 players for the 2nd half. You decide, but do something to make it fun for Both Teams. As one of my Coaches always said: Celebrating a try when it s a tough game or a close game is always acceptable, so go for it, but it soon becomes un-acceptable if you are handing out a beating to another team. This is a time for silent dignity and respect for our opponents and the game. Hot n Cold Concessions will be available and credit cards are accepted. Pop-Up Tents Rumor has it that it might rain here in the Pacific NW. Coaches, Parents Supporters, bring your pop-up tents. There is a great area on the map for team tents and Parents & Supporters are welcome to line the sidelines, as long as they share when it rains. Technical Zones Please refer to the map for position of Players/Coaches and Parents/Supporters. For the safety of all it is each Coaches responsibility to ensure that the Parents/Supporters are in the right locations, are not on the same side of the field as the Players/Coaches and conduct themselves appropriately. Parking No Entry. No Parking label on the map. There is no parking in the center between the buildings, where the BGYR logo and Laurin Label is on the map. Parking beside Field 3. There will be a rope across part of this line of parking but you can still park there. Rope is just there to stop you parking too close to field 3 where Parents/Spectators will be standing. Additional parking is along NE 197 th Ave and at Glenwood Heights Primary on NE 134 th Street. Stick Around, Enjoy The Atmosphere, Support Your Clubs Other Teams
