1 2010 Pacific NW Chapter Garage Tour Saturday, March 27 9 a.m. continental breakfast at Barb Carper s shop 356 Upland Drive, Tukwila, WA See the new home of the Miss Thriftway where Rolls Merlin V-12 maintenance is in progress and plenty of unique posters and boating memorabilia are on display. 9 a.m.: Jim Harvey will be on hand to share technical and historic information about Merlins as boat race motors. Jim s boat racing roles have included crew chief for Bill Muncey s Atlas Van Lines and a 1982 Gold Cup win as crew chief for Fran Muncey. For several years he was team owner and crew chief of his own unlimited hydroplane race team. His U-2 sponsors included Oberto, T-Plus, and TrendWest Resorts to name a few. 10 a.m. speaker: Lou Barrett 11/11:30 a.m.: Depart for next stop There is ample parking at Barb s for people who want to carpool to Gig Harbor Optional side tour: Foss Waterway Seaport, home of the Working Waterfront Maritime Museum and Boat Shop. 705 Dock Street, Tacoma, WA Phone Bruce Bronson s shop, th Ave NW, Gig Harbor, WA Bruce has over a dozen boats in varied conditions, including Capris, Chris Craft barrel sterns, Fairliner Torpedos, a 17 foot Deluxe, and his current project, a foot triple. Bruce has produced professional restorations in his Gig Harbor shop for over 20 years and has collected a wealth of knowledge, skills and fun stuff to see. He s a great resource and friend to antique boating. His current passion is a Cord hot rod that he s building at the same shop so there s a lot for all to see and learn. 2 p.m. lunch: Hosted by Ed and Barb Tronca (right next door to Bruce s shop). Ed and Barb are new ACBS members and will have their garage open for the tour as well. Ed has a 1957 Capri and is currently working on a 17 foot Deluxe.
