9 Indoor Building Updates - This month, I will conclude my series of class changes with the Food Dept. The biggest change will be in the canning section with additional classes. There will be 4 classes of jellies--grape, Strawberry, Blackberry and Other Jelly. There will be 6 classes of jams-- Raspberry, Strawberry, Blueberry, Peach, Cherry and Other Jam. This will give our 4-Hers more classes to enter and increase our canning exhibits. The Cookie of the Year will be Flavorful Favorites. The Cake of the Year will be Create a Cake. The recipes for both of these will be listed in the Foods Dept. of the Fair Catalog under the Forms and Docs section on the Fair website. This should be updated the beginning of May. If you are entering a Cookie Gift Basket, a recipe is needed for each cookie. Another gingerbread class will be offered. It is Gingerbread Kit Creations--made from a purchased kit for Christmas house, sleigh, tree, etc. using royal icing and candies. May is the time to start practicing the Cookie and Cake recipes of the year. By fair time, you will have them perfected. Any questions about classes in the Foods Dept. should be referred to the superintendent of that section. Contact info is listed at the beginning of the Foods Dept. in the Fair Catalog.
