This rodeo continues in the tradition of calling Waco its home as the Extraco Events Center hosts this great event. The rodeo action will start on Friday, January 6 th at 7:30 p.m. followed by 2 performances on Saturday, January 7 th with one beginning at 1:00 p.m. and the second beginning at 7:30 p.m. This rodeo will include 7 rodeo events and Mutton Bustin. Back by popular demand, the Style Show will be held on Saturday, January 7 th after the 1:00 p.m. rodeo performance in the Extraco Creative Arts Building. You ll see some of the hottest new looks for both men and women, modeled by the PRCA cowboys and cowgirls. The Style Show includes dinner catered by Carino s Italian Restaurant, door prizes, gift bags and much more! Tickets are $25 each. The Heart O Texas Fair & Rodeo Sweethearts and T-Bone promote, support and represent the Heart O Texas Fair & Rodeo at various community events throughout the year including festivals, fundraisers, benefits and parades. They serve as public relations ambassadors for the Fair & Rodeo and volunteer a minimum of 100 hours of community service per year. Some of the requirements for applying to become a Sweetheart include being a sophomore, junior or senior in high school for the school year, maintain a B or above grade average, be a resident of Bell, Bosque, Coryell, Falls, Hill, Limestone or McLennan counties, willing and physically able to serve as a volunteer for a minimum of 100 hours throughout the year of which 30 hours will be served during the Heart O Texas Fair & Rodeo and sell a minimum of $500 in the Heart O Texas Fair & Rodeo pre-sale program. If you would like to try out to become a 2012 Heart O Texas Fair & Rodeo Sweetheart, or know someone who is interested, have them download, print and complete the application from our website at hotfair.com, and return it to the Heart O Texas Fair & Rodeo offices no later than Noon on February 3, Contact Melinda Moss at melinda@hotfair.com for additional information or questions.

This year, we awarded 73 scholarships totaling $80,500 to students in McLennan County and the surrounding areas. At least one senior at each of the 20 public high schools, at least one student from one of the private schools and at least one home-schooled student in McLennan County will be selected. These scholarships are open to any high school senior in McLennan County; we have added scholarship opportunities for students in Bell, Bosque, Hill, Falls, Limestone and Coryell Counties as well. Scholarship applications will be available to 2012 graduating seniors on January 13, Applications must be postmarked by or before March 23, 2012 to be considered. The Party Deck reservation is $1000 and includes free parking, admission into the Extraco Coliseum for the Rodeo, hor d oeuvres and waitress service for twenty guests. He will be providing leadership and guidance to the overall Fair & Rodeo and related events.

Jarrod s background and years of experience here at the Events Center gives him the right tools to guide the Fair well into the future.

Through his leadership we can expect new and exciting changes in fairs to come. Michelle Whalen is being promoted to Managing Director for Competitive Events and Sponsorship.

Michelle brings a world of knowledge and experience to the table and will help to develop and grow new exciting competitive events and the funds to support those events.

In addition, Michelle will guide the Fair s social media outreach and work closely with other Fair and Events Center staff to promote both fair and non-fair events.

Vicki will provide assistance to events such as the RAM Texas Circuit Finals, HOT Winter Slide, One HOT Reining and Margarita & Salsa Festival.

Emily Dressen is being promoted to Director of Fair Events in the Fair Division.

4 Moving Up the Ladder The Extraco Events Center, Home of the Heart O Texas Fair & Rodeo, is proud to announce the advancement of the following employees. Jarrod Metzgar will be taking on a new role as the Vice President of the Fair Division. He will be providing leadership and guidance to the overall Fair & Rodeo and related events. We are excited to be able to have dedicated leadership to the Fair & Rodeo as it continues to grow and prosper. Jarrod s background and years of experience here at the Events Center gives him the right tools to guide the Fair well into the future. Jarrod will head up a team of Fair staff members who will dedicate the proper time and effort to ensure the ongoing success of the Fair. Through his leadership we can expect new and exciting changes in fairs to come. Michelle Whalen is being promoted to Managing Director for Competitive Events and Sponsorship. Michelle has been employed since 2010 in the Sponsorship Development Division and will continue some responsibilities there while taking on new tasks in the Fair Division. Long time Fair employee Vicki Hobbs will fill a new position as the Manger of Special Events and Commercial Exhibits. Vicki will provide assistance to events such as the RAM Texas Circuit Finals, HOT Winter Slide, One HOT Reining and Margarita & Salsa Festival. In addition, Vicki will manage bookings for the Operations Division and facilitate the sale of commercial exhibit space at fair and non-fair events. Emily Dressen is being promoted to Director of Fair Events in the Fair Division. Emily s new position will included many of the duties she has filled in the past as well as providing leadership to the overall Committee Management Program. Her duties include the Volunteer Pre-Sale Program, fair events, promotions and presentation. Emily is an outstanding employee and we look forward to her continued success.
