3 President s Report - October 2014 G Day All, Well the Festival is over, and although the numbers were down a bit, the atmosphere and Friendship between everyone was great. The results are further in the magazine. I would like to thank all our Sponsors for their support. To all the workers, and this year we had a lot of Members work hard all weekend, my heartfelt THANKS, you made the weekend a real success. I would also like to thank Kelso Country Music Club for foregoing their Sunday Afternoon Country to ensure the success of our Festival. To all the competitors well done, as I said in the program you don t have to be a placegetter to be a winner. The A.G.M. is on Thursday, the 20 th November, if you want to nominate for a position the forms are in this Magazine. We will have a re-hash of the Festival following the A.G.M. The Christmas Party is coming up on Sunday, 14 th December. This year will be a different format, it being an afternoon party because of all the children we now have in the club. We may even have a visit from the gentleman in the red suit. If you will be attending please let us know by Sunday the 7 th December for catering purposes. Good wishes to Elvio Folini and Ray Knuth who are going in for operations this month, get well soon. I am pleased to see Ruby McNae and Ken Knuth walking around so well on their new knees. To our Members heading down south for the Champs, good luck and I know you will do us proud. I wish I could be there with you. Again, thank you to all that helped to make the Festival a great weekend. Until next time remember, Country Always, Darryl

If anyone does wish to purchase their own microphone sock, we suggest they contact Arties Music on Ross River Road as apparently they are relatively cheap to buy and come in a number of weird and wonderful colours.

7 A Polish couple were delighted when their long wait to adopt a baby came to an end. The adoption centre called and told them that they had a wonderful Russian baby boy and the couple took him without hesitation. On the way home from the adoption centre, they stopped by the local college so they each could enrol in night courses. After they filled out the forms, the registration clerk inquired, "Whatever possessed you to study Russian?" The couple said proudly, "We just adopted a Russian baby, and in a year or so he'll start to talk. We just want to be able to understand him." Solution to Crossword on Page 26

It suddenly made a right hand turn, heading up a side track towards a nearby farm house. Intrigued, the motorist decided to follow the chook. At the end of the track, he met a farmer leaning on a gate. The motorist said, "You probably won t believe this, but I reckon I saw a three-legged chook running this way." The farmer was nonchalant in response. "Yep, we breed them here." "But why?" asked the motorist. "Well, you see, I like a leg, my wife likes a leg, and me son likes a leg." "And what do they taste like?" "Dunno", replied the farmer, "No one can catch the blighters".
