2 Hello from the TNT Ranch! Welcome to our 31st Annual Bull Sale! We were not sure this was going to happen, but having the kids help out more made it possible. Lynette has cut back some but it seems like she still gets asked to do a lot. This is the first year she did not do the videoing of the bulls. Kendra was nervous to take over but did a great job! There is still no way this sale could happen without Lynette was a year that we realized we have so much to be thankful for, even when times get tough. Our youngest grandchild, Mayzee Grace was born Feb. 16. She was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palette and two holes in her heart. After lip surgery in April and heart surgery in June, she is doing great. She will have her first palette surgery before the sale and has many surgeries to come, but she is doing better than expected and is cuter than ever! In August, her mom, Brekka, was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and it has been tough. Her chemo should wrap up the end of January and she is planning to have surgery a month later in Rochester and will have radiation to follow. It has been extremely hard to watch our daughter struggle through this, but with her faith, family and everyone s support, she is finding a way to win this battle. On Jan. 13, we also found out that Lynette has breast cancer as well. We are still in the early stage of finding out all the specifics and will know more over the next few weeks. We are overwhelmed by the generosity and support you have given all of us. It really shows our family what wonderful friends we all truly have. Lynette and Kevin We were blessed with another great year on the ranch. We have fantastic help with our son Justin, and Josh Jochim, a young man that helped out with haying three summers and after college is here full time. He is truly like another family member to all of us. His parents raised him well! Kendra lives just North of Almont and helps a lot. She loves baling and checking cows. Shanon and Gabe help when they can and are a huge help with all that goes into the sale, with Shanon pretty much putting the whole catalog together. They raised our ET calves again this year and did a fantastic job. From a production standpoint, we had a banner year, with lots of rain, grass and feed and no hail. The cattle performed extremely well, weaned heavy and haven t missed a beat over winter. It has been great! We did not creep the calves, but we put them on medicated Headstart 70 a week before we weaned, so they would already be on Aureomycin when we weaned. However, Shanon and Gabe did creep their calves and our ET calves. Theirs are in a separate contemporary group. We weaned the end of September and continued on Headstart 70 for a week with free choice hay, then right into a total mixed ration. We worked them up to what they are currently receiving: 10 pounds of corn, 3 pounds of DDG, chopped hay and silage (half corn silage and half alfalfa haylage). The bulls have done very well with our best gains for a long time. Our weather has been exceptional and we know that has been a factor. We really like this ration. It is a little higher in protein, and they consume it well. It is a high roughage ration which insures soundness, longevity and fertility. Disposition has always been important to us, but as we age it seems to be even more important. We have been breeding and culling for temperament for years and we are certainly seeing the benefits. We have grown our Sim-Angus program on both the sire and dam s side long enough to get a feel for their value, and truly feel they have been some of the most predictable and consistent genetics we have used. However, I feel there will always be a need for purebreds as well. The state started their Johne s testing program again, so we tested our herd again this year, and as in the past, our herd remains clean. We started with around 190 bull and culled it down to around 150, but selling 110 is just much easier for us, so we have an excellent set of spare bulls to help in case anyone has a problem with one purchased in the sale. This is truly one of the thickest, deepest, set of bulls, with some real outstanding heifer bulls in the offering as well. 3 TNT Simmental Sale Friday, February 12, p.m. CST At the Ranch, Almont N.D. We will be serving coffee & rolls in the morning and a complimentary lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. DIRECTIONS TO THE RANCH Coming from the North From I 94 take the Almont exit # 123, go south 15 miles (10 miles on pavement and 5 miles on gravel) on County Road #86 to 53rd St. and then 1/4 mile west. Coming from the South Just east of Carson, take County Road #86 and go north 16 miles (all gravel) to 53rd St. and then 1/4 mile west. DISCOUNTS We are offering $100 off each bull that you haul home sale day, and we are also offering a volume discount. The first bull purchased will be full price, the second bull we will deduct 2.5% off that bull, the third bull we will deduct 5% off that bull, the forth bull we will deduct 7.5% off that bull. Any additional bulls will have a 10% discount. INSPECTION We invite you to come and inspect the cattle at our ranch 6 miles south and 1/4 mile west of Almont anytime. TRUCKING If the purchaser requests at the time of settlement, we will assist in making delivery. Trucking will be free within a 300 mile radius of Almont, to central locations. Long distance will either get hired and we will pay for half, or we are willing to meet at central locations, if there is a full load going to your area, for free. CANADIAN SALES We will cover the health papers, semen test, and Canadian delivery to the North Portal or Dunseith, Port of Entries. We will help you in making arrangements to any other Ports of Entry. Border costs are at your expense. HEALTH All the bulls were vaccinated with BoviShield Gold 5, One Shot, Ultrabac 7/Somubac, and treated with Dectomax pour on. Fertility tests and health papers provided by Mandan Veterinary Clinic. FEEDING ARRANGEMENTS If purchaser requests, we will feed your bull and have him fertility tested in early April. We would like to have all bulls picked up or delivered no later than May 1. The fee will be $100 per bull. The bull s ration will be the same or very similar to what they are receiving now. We are not responsible for accidents of cattle kept at the ranch. We strongly encourage insurance. TERMS & CONDITIONS They will be the same as those recommended by the National Associations. If you have any questions, please contact us. In no instance shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price of the bull. The bulls are 100% guaranteed. We guarantee to provide you with a sound breeding bull, capable of passing a semen test within 14 months of age. Should any bull fail, we will refund your money, or we will supply you with a bull for the upcoming breeding season, plus you will receive full credit at the next year s sale. Please contact us if you have any questions. SCROTAL CIRCUMFERENCE Each bull was measured to the nearest.5 centimeter and adjusted to 365 days using a daily adjustment of.033 centimeters. Only bulls with a minimum of 30cm were selected. The ratings for month bulls are 30cm and less = poor; 30 35cm = good; and 35cm and over = very good. HOMOZYGOUS BLACK Will only sire black calves when used on black or nondiluter red cows. You will get mostly gray calves when used on yellow cows or red cows that have the dilution gene. HETEROZYGOUS BLACK Will sire both black and red calves when used on nondiluter red cows. When used on yellow or red cows that have the dilution gene you will get roughly half red and the rest will be gray, with some blacks. HOMOZYGOUS POLLED All calves will be polled and requires both parents to be polled and both to pass on the polled gene to their offspring. The majority of our bulls are polled for several generations. Every bull in the sale is sired by a Homozygous Polled bull and a polled cow.
